Still waiting for a sponsor to be announced.

Only one flaw in the above wyl even the struggling ones buy new planes e.g American

Interesting to see if they are buying "American" planes. I have been zooting around China since 1986 and it always amused when sitting on the old 737's people in the seat next to me would say they felt safe because they were on Boeing rather than fly on Russian or locally produced planes. The Boeing 737's for China are made in a factory outside Shanghai in a JV with Boeing.

So true. The "Cheaper" Sony gear is made in korea and China. The "Top End" gear was made in Japan.

Bit quiet Thomo. Can't you hear those jet engines firing up?

We still don't have a sponsor. The airline deal is a rumour that started on this site.

Hopefully the club picks up a sponsor and it is a big one, but at this stage Melbourne are playing a competitive game on the weekend without the FOJ sponsor. I cannot remember a club in my life time that has been in this situation.

If I remember correctly, Richmond last year didn't sign Jeep as their FOJ sponsor until just before the season started. Port also are chasing a major sponsor.

Bank of Melbourne still looks a chance as I haven' t heard that they have taken on another major sponsor. I heard we have lost Volvo as well, therefore a car sponsor could be a chance. But I feel we should be trying to get a sponsor such as China Air.Or a large Chinese company or a government agency

This appears to be where the Chinese airline deal stems from. Newspaper and TV journalists and callers to talkback often get there info from internet sites, so it would not surprise me if it was the case in this instance.

If indeed there is a deal with a Chinese airline, JCB needs to let me know what the lotto numbers are.

I'm happy to be on Team Thomo here. Fantastic Port also don't have a FOJ sponsor that's puts us in elite company. I'm sure their CEO is saying the same thing-

"Currently we have numerous companies knocking down our door to be the major sponsor of Port Adelaide Football Club. We're very close to a deal it's just hard because there's so many interested parties".

There is a reason Port and us are last and it is because we have the stigma of being the least professional and least desirable and the longer we wait for this years deal the more we're keeping up this stigma for future years and deals.

We're doing an amazing amount of right things on and off the field, but the 2012 Team picture displayed all year without a sponsor on the breast will be an avid reminder of how far we still have to go to be where we as supporters think we are.

Port Adelaide are an ugly club to call company, agreed. It's frustrating, that is the fact we haven't got a FOJ yet. But it seems it's going to go either one of two ways.

a.) We've been in negotiations with a major company, currently finalising the last details of what is going to be a prosperous and long-term relationship. Happy Days.

or

b.) We simply can't find a date for the dance. We're desperate and looking for a sponsor akin to Hankook. (No disrespect to Hankook intended) A sponsor though, that is going to cough up an adequate amount of $$.

I think it is the waiting that is causing unrest. Bit of an understatement I know, but whoever we gets on board is seriously going to reflect on where we are heading as a club.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
