I don't know enough about Toy... what role in defence would he play? Looking at his height he isn't overly tall, so is he competing for the 3rd tall? or is he a "quarterback" (Don't like the use of this term) or more a running defender?

If he was rated top 5, and has had a year in the system, I suspect Warnock would be bundled with a compensation pick at least.... and if we are still in the running regarding the 17yr old mini draft that might have to play out first.

I thought he was seen as more of a midfielder than a defender but I'm only going on memory of reports from 1-2 years ago. Can't remember seeing him play either.

Will turn out like Luke Hodge. Control play off half back, can defend one on one, and make an impact when moved onto the ball. Seems to be much like Grimes, but better skilled and less injuries, although (for reasons below), mentally well behind Grimes.

I think his father died two years ago, that was the main reason why he didn't move up to Qld straight away, and that is why he is rumoured to want to return to Victoria. I think that it may have had an impact on him this year

Not really sure on the injury front WJ. But what Gold Coast did do was rotate a lot throughout the year to keep their kids reasonably fresh for games and so that their bodies wouldn't tire. I do recall there were a tough couple of games for him where guys like Ashley McGrath kicked big bags on him which left him 'reportedly' deflated. I think they worked on his defensive aspects whilst out of the side to help develop his game and confidence. You could say McKenna & Co. were being quite patient with their young crop.

I can't really explain '8' games, that's a little bit of a surprise.

From the games i saw, he was terrible and not surprised he was dropped.

Played far too loose and was punished on the scoreboard. Didn't really have much urgency to his game and looked like a deer in headlights.

Didn't see anything that made him so highly rated but disposal looks solid. Think Toy should wipe 2011 away and press restart and play some defence.

Emma Quayle loved him... although people are asking if he was one of the "man child" types against the juniors

I think he was more of a midfielder in U18's and is out of sorts playing in the back half, i dont think its position at all personally

Have heard many times that he seems disinterested, especially while playing in the magoo's, didnt work harder to get back in.....ect

It was always pretty much the intention that Toy would be on a limited schedule in 2011. Remember that Toy only played 4 VFL games in 2010.

This from a preseason interview with Guy McKenna:

"Has Josh Toy done enough to play this year, considering his convoluted 2010?

He's going to be playing senior footy. He's certainly in our best 22 and he's one of those kids that if he gets to 12 games, that's great. Because of his limited preparation last year with school, he's probably more eight to 12 games rather than 12 to 14."
