I just want to get an idea of other members thoughts on this and I thought where better than demonland forums? I believe Fevola would be a gamble but this club needs to start taking some gambles coz being safe has gotten us nowhere! He would stand strong one out in the goal square and take pressure off our youngsters. He's in outstanding form and I think we would be kicking ourselves if he goes elsewhere and kicks 100 goals next year which is well within his abilities. Am I alone?

There's already a poll running on this one mate.

The nays have it about 55%-45% as I recall.

Sorry should have looked harder... Wonder how many of those who weren't even willing to think about it went to see the team play at Casey, saw him at quarter time 3 qtr time and after the game getting around the young blokes and pumping them up. Making lead after lead and not cracking it once even tho they kicked it over his head or too short time n time again. Put him on the minimum hell I'll even chip in some more $$$ to help pay his wage with a clause that says any breach of team rules will result in immediate dismissal with no payout.

I'm with you Muzze, but sadly, I don't like our chances.

Considering he's nominated for the draft and with a nominal fee, I really think we should look at him. Doubt it would happen, but if it did we could possibly put a clause in his contract regarding his own conduct on and off-field. This could relate to his pay and dismissal should anything occur.

Also the fact that he's nominated on the base salary I reckon is a good indication that he's just keen to play some football.

Massive myth. Fevola has never kicked 100 goals in a season. Got close one year with 99, but in 12 seasons he has averaged 52 goals per season.

Even without the terrible history, the question should be "would you recruit a 31 year old ,who has not played AFL for 12 months, and averages 52 goals as a stay at home full forward, for a season when MFC are years away from challenging for a flag?"

No chance.

I've been a 'no' for a long time, but I've been thinking about the prospect of having Brendan Fevola in the forward line... and I have to admit, it's pretty exciting. He's been at rock bottom, and I do believe in his determination to "win back respect".

If it were up to me, I'd seriously consider throwing him a 1 year contract, with a misbehaviour clause similar to Brisbane... except we won't be paying him $750,000 a year.

He's been at Casey for a whole season and our footy dept would know better than anyone how far he's come - I'll put my trust in them.

Not another Fev thread

How bout we just hand him the number 31 and move forward! Couldn't be any more draining on the club than the $culls saga this year eh..... or could it

I'd take him as a rookie only.... if you pay peanuts, you get champions

Champion of what?

Never won anything other than a personal honour.

I just don't think the universe believes he deserves it.

And quite Obviously that Universe has turned against both Melbourne & the Tigers. Don't you think? Why would that be???

I think he is saying Fev is a chronic loser that will never recover and his exploits are pretty well known, thus any chance he had of being picked up is overridden by his stupidity.

Bloke needs to be bound and gagged anywhere near booze or the punt.

What ?!

Not a post about Fev.

But generally about Us lacking some extroverted forwards. We've shy'ed away from them, instead of trying to do a 'Stevie Johnston' with them.

Unless Neeld has signing Fev down as his top priority I can't see it happening. He has less baggage, but he still has baggage.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
