Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Collingwood's nightmare returns

This could all turn around with a change in player personnel and considering this is basically a dead rubber, but tonight can't be good for the woods. Two bob the MM drama has impacted on their psyche and they will go out in straight sets. Post-season fall-out may be spectacular and may see every player heading to GWS. What a team that would make, with TS captain of course.

would be funny if west coast beat them it just goes to show when geelong are on they are still an awesome side they can win the flag no doubt, if they can get over the hawks and get to grand final the pies will [censored] themselves

looks like the september colliwobles are back

Haven't turned up for a dead rubber. Only thing it will do is ensure that they are switched on for the rest of the year. Still the team to beat.

yeh agreed, be crazy to write them off

The look on Eddie's face was worth every bit of humiliation Geelong inflicted on them.Pity they couldn't make it 100 points.

Geelong also seem to have found the way to get around the Collingwood press. I'm sure others will do the same - not rocket science.

They've been a bit a bit smarty pants about they way they've gone about it all year Collingwood. Sure they've been the best team in it, but the Arizona trips, arrogant tweets, Mick's self indulgent Footy Show appearance plus Eddie's constant stirring of clubs like ours ... all had the whiff of we've already made room on the mantlepiece for Cup No.16.

It's not going to be that easy. Hawthorn and Geelong can beat them, West Coast I'm not so sure about. If they play the Cats again in a knock-out final watch the jitters set in if the Cats stamp their authority early.

Scarlett and Taylor are their keys. If they can adequately shut down Cloke and Dawes like they did last night, the Cats 'll get up again.

It would be an immense pleasure to watch Collingwood go out in straight sets. Immense pleasure. The ensuing recriminations within that club would be a delight behold as well.

Those who are laughing would do well to remember that even in losing by 16 goals, Collingwood's game against the Cats was still 15 goals better than our last one was against them.

Let's worry about getting our house in order first before making fun of the side that finished on top of the ladder.

I think Geelong put up one of the most awesome displays of 4 quarter football I have seen in years. WOW. They werent beating a cellar dweller. They did this to the top team by 16 goals. They did it so comprehensively that players like Swan, O'Brien, Pendlebury looked pedestrian.

A truly outstanding effort from a club that was apparently gone when Ablett went north.

A fantastic performance and wonderful exhibution of Aust Rules football.

Exactly.

The significance of this game for me was not so much about what happened to Collingwood but rather about how Geelong has fought its way back into contention after the twin disruptions of the Gary Ablett and Bomber Thompson sagas. The Cats have regrouped particularly well with a new coach and rejuvenated list and there's definitely a lesson there for other clubs about how to overcome the monster that the AFL created with the rules for new franchises.

Mate! Pretty much all of my 58 years there have been two things that have brought me pleasure in life. One is Melbourne winning. The other is Collingwood losing. Euphoria kicked in when both events happened in the one game!

Don't deprive an old supporter of one of his few moments of pleasure in what has been a rather pleasure-less season!

Alternatively and unusually for a poster on this site, you could take a more positive view, based on what awesome skills Geelong have:

Geelong made the Demons looks like witches hats when they buried us but at least our witches hats had clearly given up trying.

The Pies tried and still got done.

Maybe we'll be better when we don't lose heart so easily.

I agree. The second best thing, but even sweeter if it happens later in Seprember or early October.

If they go out in straight sets, this entire season will have been worth the wait.

It was always coming. They are a perfectly drilled team, Collingwood, but individually how good are they really? With three fairly significant outs the rout was always on the cards. Geelong are the only team to get on top of them mentally by matching their effort and finding a way to beat the press early.

Pies have some handy in's (without knowing the damage from last night) over the next few weeks. I wouldn't write them off just yet:

Nick Maxwell

Leon Davis

Heath Shaw

Daisy Thomas

Not sure if I'd rate Maxwell a "handy in".

Maybe just an in.

    TRAINING: Friday 19th April 2024

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
