Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Who gives a rats if we get one-week suspensions this week? We're going to lose next week anyway.

I want Mitch Robinson knocked out.

I want blood.

I want Lynden Dunn to snipe for the fun of it.

I want Bull to run over a few Carlton players a la Savage, Shaw.

I want Carlton's sub activated by the end of the first quarter.

Nice VENT, now go and have a soothing Hot Chocolate....Leave the Team Tactics to Mr Viney this week.

He has just put his balls on the line....

forgive me for them wanting to show something after last week and Carlton labelling us bruise-free earlier this year?

Point taken, but i would prefer to see scoreboard pressure....a win keeps us in the hunt for September.

I'm with the intent of your OP striker, however I'd prefer we don't lose players, but to see the boys playing with real [censored] would make me smile. We know Bull can run blokes down, we know Dunn can be a right pain in the arse, and we know Trenners and Jordie can drive a bloke into the earth with a great tackle. I'll accept all of that, but there's no reason for us to be scumbags like the mob we're about to play.

What would hurt Carlton the most is being crushed by a passionate and hard team that are willing to give anything for the red and blue. And as supporters we should except nothing less.

Correct. The Jumper that Chris Judd should have chosen, but didn't.

I also like the intent of the OP. I agree with what everyone else has said too. BUT remember Hawthorn's "unsociable football" - it just might take a couple to cross the line once or twice in order that the whole team spends most of the game just 'this' side of the line. When an opposition player lines up against Brown, Robinson, Hodge etc... and they have to wait under a high ball, there is something inside their head saying, "I might get cleaned up here. I've seen him do it before..." and there's a chance they don't go as hard. Look at half of our team as an example of this effect!

Watching Viney's full press conference i have no doubt that he has read the riot act to the players about their hunger to win the contested ball. At a bare minimum i expect to see a really hard fierce competitive effort on Saturday, regardless of whether we win or lose...

Totally agree that we will see some good contested footy.

It will be very interesting to see the changes to the team. Im tipping the dees for a win and keeping our final hopes alive,

I really wouldn't think thuggish tactics or the reading of the riot act are necessary in these circumstances. The way that events unfolded in the past week should be enough if they have pride in themselves. However, with a tough no nonsense bloke like Todd Viney at the helm I doubt we're going to see players shirking issues if they want to be in the side the following week.

I will be more interested in how the team is set up. I expect it will be a lot different to the past and further, that the uncertainty on this will cause some issues at Carlton.

While I agree with Rhino's point that this is a pretty dumb thread and that mindless violence is not the answer, secretly I hope points 1, 2 and 3 all come together in the one act. Losing Lynden Dunn for the rest of the season through suspension for knocking out Mitch Robinson would put me in a happy place.

100% correct, but we never seem to get this do we?

I don't necessarily want blood. But I get what your saying Striker. When a club comes out and calls says you play bruise free football it's embarrassing. Time for some of the playing group to step up and play some hard football. Just do it legally.

He has done nothing of the sort. He doesn't want to coach full time. He's helping out.

You are wrong.

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
