What the hell is going on with the Melbourne Football Club !

If you listen to on the couch tonight you would have to wonder as a supporter what the hell is going on

What was the agenda of the players on Saturday

If you listen to some of the comments made by the players there was something definetly wrong !!

The players are not as bad as how they played on the Saturday , I do not believe this is a true refelection of where the players are at

So what where they trying to achieve what were they trying to show, and if you look at how it has all panned out in the end, the outcome it seems has blown up in the players faces

Tanking is also now a Issue again

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Match fixing, more specifically when a competitor deliberately loses without gambling being involved

Jarred Rivers said they didn't care.

So does anyone know what the hell is going on as a supporter Id love the true explanation of what is happening, to my club wouldnt you?

Can someone provide a summary of the discussions

Melbourne is in crisis

Melbourne lost by 186 points

Melbourne sacked Dean Bailey

Players aren't happy

Collingwood is on top of the ladder

I didn't watch the show, but I'm assuming that was the jist of it.

Can someone provide a summary of the discussions

Monday green speaks on the couch alerting mclardy to player unrest.

Tuesday mclardy approaches leadership group for clarification of issues that he was apparently unaware of. (I find it hard to believe this)

Wednesday Stynes speaks to leadership group

Thursday Stynes investigates issues with CS, Schwab now in the gun

Friday decision to not renew schwabs contract made

Saturday players turn it up big time. Nothing we dont know.

Sunday meeting, decision reversal Schwab keeps job, Bailey gone.

From recollection that sums up the main points.

Do we know why exactly CS was in the gun/to be sacked...what was his relationship to the FD??

Must have been serious.

I agree! It seems a bizarre set of circumstances. I can't believe the players set out to make a statement to the Football Club. If that was the case then they are very misguided which means you have the completely wrong leadership group leading the players.

I however cannot not believe this could possibly be the case.No playing group could be that stupid and lacking in character therefore I don't belive it is possible.

What seems to be clear is that the players have some issues with the administration. I am totally befuddled at this point in time.

What could these insurmountable issues be? Can anybody offer up any ideas?????

It is possible there is an interference issue(this is my best attempt at a guess) Interference in what?

Maybe they aren't getting paid on time? That would be an issue? Racial problems??

Is there anyone "In the Know" out in Demonland that can shed any light on this as I don't have a clue as to what is going on?

Yep Im also totally confused

Also in the discussion was that the players let their feelings known

Also Garry Lyon was discussed and talk about him  agreeing  to get involved  but with conditions

I believe they said he may be the next Pres not sure on this as I stepped out the room but that was what I was told

Also Lyon had something to do with the change in the decision

Id just love answers thats All From the Club from the Coaching dept and most of allfrom the PLAYERS!!!!!!!

I hate to say it, but by the sounds of it we need an Eddie.

Yes, we love to hate him, but he completely turned the Filth around and both united the factions as well as removing those that wouldn't unite.

We have an Eddie. His name's Jim. Unfortunately, Jim has to be concerned with things far more important than football.

It just seems to get more bizarre the more you think about. Didn't Caro write an article that the players performance was somehow linked to unrest with the administration( haven't read it, just what I have heard). Now, 2 things would have been clear to the playing group by Friday night/ Saturday morning. 1, Schwab was on the verge of getting the axe and 2, DB was on the verge of a 1 possibly 2 yr extension! They then proceed to put it the worst performance of any team in the history of the game.....WTF is going on inside the walls of our club??

it seems to me, given brad miller (really, brad miller?) and james mcdonald's complaints before they left, that the club had placed too much of an emphasis on youth and had treated its senior leftovers from the daniher era with less respect than the players thought they deserved. at the end of the day, what ever truth there may be in that, the players are played to play football. it is not their problem who is in charge of the club's administration. like someone in the media said, do we have a case of the tail wagging the dog?

Free agency is going to bury Melbourne once and for all. What player will what to play for a club like us? I really think this will set the football club back a long time. The board needed to get rid of all the problems and it sounds like CS and CC are problems. Very scared about our future.

Should Jim be the President then?

Did you watch the presser? I was gutted watching him. I know the circumstances were regretful, but I thought he looked like a pale imitation of himself.

Only Jim and the Board know whether he should be Pres. He still may be the best we have. But he should stop immediately if it's inhibiting his health.

Don't worry that's history. The problems are not insurmountable and mature people work through these things. Our Board is mature. The press are not they thrive on the smell of anything. By Saturday the whole world will have turned 5 more times and the press will be giddy on their next fix. You may disagree with my opinion but whatever the process, the right decision has been made. I'm looking forward the a bruising game with the Blues.

But that is a "Dammed if you do & Dammed if you don't" scenario.. The Daniher era was over, and the club had to move on.

But yes this team must sort out its issues before Free Agency. We still can, as long as we sort it out now (This week, next week & over summer)

Anyone watch One Week at a Time?

So frustrating hearing those buffoons vent their spleen.

Loved how Wallsy said "Ignore their average losing margin of 66 points for a minute, they've still won 7.5 games"

Then almost seemed to take the credit for Brisbane's era of dominance.

    DEFUSE THE BOMBERS by Meggs

Last Saturday’s crushing loss to Fremantle, after being three goals ahead at three quarter time, should be motivation enough to bounce back for this very winnable Round 5 clash at Windy Hill. A first-time venue for the Melbourne AFLW team, this should be a familiar suburban, windy, footy environment for the players.   Essendon were brave and competitive last week against ladder leader Adelaide at Sturt’s home ground. A familiar name, Maddison Gay, was the Bombers best player with

    BLOW THE SIREN by Meggs

Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze. The Melbourne Coach had promised an improved performance, and we did start better than previous weeks, winning the ball out of the middle, using the breeze advantage and connecting to the forwards.

    GETAWAY by Meggs

Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval. It promises to be keenly contested, though Fremantle is the bookies clear favourite.  If we lose, finals could be remoter than Rottnest Island especially following on from the Dees 50-point dismantlement by North Melbourne last Sunday.  There are 8 remaining matches, over the next 7 weeks.  To Meggs’

    DRUBBING by Meggs

With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out

    GOOD MORNING by Meggs

If you are driving or training it to Cranbourne on Saturday, don’t forget to set your alarm clock. The Melbourne Demons play the reigning premiers Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields this Saturday, with the bounce of the ball at 11:05am.  Yes, that’s AM.   The AFLW fixture shows deference to the AFL men’s finals games.  So, for the men it’s good afternoon and good evening and for the women it’s good morning.     The Lions were wounded last week by 44 points, their highest ever los

    HORE ON FIRE by Meggs

The 40,000 seat $319 million redeveloped Kardinia Park Stadium was nowhere near capacity last night but the strong, noisy contingent of Melbourne supporters led by the DeeArmy journeyed to Geelong to witness a high-quality battle between two of the best teams in AFLW.   The Cats entered the arena to the blasting sounds of Zombie Nation and made a hot start kicking the first 2 goals. They brought tremendous forward half pressure, and our newly renovated defensive unit looked shaky.

    REMATCH by Meggs

The Mighty Demons take on the confident Cats this Saturday night at the recently completed $319 million redeveloped GMHBA Stadium, with the bounce of the ball at 7:15pm. Our last game of 2023 was an agonisingly close 5-point semi-final loss to Geelong, and we look forward to Melbourne turning the tables this week. Practice match form was scratchy for both teams with the Demons losing practice matches to Carlton and Port Adelaide, while the Cats beat Collingwood but then lost to Essendo
