I hope you're right mate! However, they are a better team than us and we are coming of a tough Darwin game plus they have Rioli, Lewis, and Sewell back in. Gonna be a big challenge.

Every time someone starts one of these threads we got rolled.

So thanks. Enjoy cursing us and don't do it again.

The only thing going for us is firstly the fact that they are coning off a bye and more teams have lost than won immediately after a bye... secondly, we are expected to lose so that could work in our favour if they believe it's theirs for the taking.

All i want is a better performance than last time we played them. To stay with them for 4 quarters and make them earn the win...

I really think well knock them over... Looking forward to it!

I admire your optimism but I won't change my footy tips on your whim. If your prediction was true you can have a big laugh on those who didn't have the same faith as you. I certainly would be laughing in pure joy!

I immediately thought the same thing..in fact I was a recent culprit by creating one about North. We're screwed now.

Good on you buddy nice to read some optimistic posts, gonna be real tough but damn I hope you get to re-post on this thread "I told you so" That would put us in much much better shape to play finals if you are right.

So we ban any positive threads and we will go through the season undefeated? I should ring Dean and tell him.

We'll be defeated by the Darwin effect. It's stupid unfair fixturing to expect a team like ours at this stage of it's development to go up there in those conditions and come back and play a fully developed side like Hawthorn.

funny in a sense we ourselves showed the bye is no impediment to winnng..

Hawks by about 30... just a reality

Such a bunch of sad sacks. Why are we even playing? As much as I loathe them, I admire Essendon and their ability to upset higher fancied sides, look what they did to the cats the other week!

If we are to improve we need to win when we aren't favored. Be positive! Amazing what can happen when people believe in a common goal.

Hopefully a great win this week. Go Dees!

Whitto...somm eof us a re just a bit realistic.. Doesnt meanwe dont barrack and hope. The Threads title asks a question. Some choose to answer with both eyes open.

We have to put on our big boy pants sometime in the next four weeks if Bailey wants to keep his job.

Will it be this week?

I don't know.

They will be strong, and they are a much better side than we.

I want us to play some confident, tough footy and see where we are at.

The bye blues syndrome is dead in the water - one of the hundred footy shows showed stats that revealed it was a problem earlier in season but the trend has now oompletely reversed and most teams are winning after the bye now. It makes senses actually that at the beginning of the season you want to get footy into your legs and some continuity to build good form. We are now in the part of the season where the players are looking for a rest to recover from the wear and tear and niggles.

Im with you all the way!

Really confident this week. Hawks coming off the bye, and some big names struggling.

Here are the keys for me:

The obvious:

Mitchell- McKenzie pressure is on but you have to do the job and play your best game of the year if we're a chance. The key.

Franklin- Obvious but I think we'll play Frawley on him with Garland coming as a 2nd man as cover. Hopefully he zones better than last week.

Cyril- If he plays, needs to be stopped. Strauss has proved bar last week a shutdown role is his forte or do we take the safer Bartram option?

The mysteries:

Shane Savage- Everytime this bloke gets 20+ touches Hawthorn win. He has X and alot of it. IMO should be almost Rising Star. We ignore him we will lose.

Josh Gibson- Could almost win Hawthorn BNF without Mitchell. His rebound has come on 10 fold. Must curtail his influence and therefore Jurrah needs to work harder. Much harder defensively on him.

Finally,

Al Clarkson- Dean needs to pressure Alistair into bad moves. It's known he can make blunders in judgement. We had our foot so firmly on their throat in Round 2 and let them off but it won't happen again. Bailey has the ability to outcoach this guy and for mine a win against the Hawks will see a new contract come the end of the year.

Over to you Deano.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
