never understood that - my gf has a cat and i reckon i could crush its head with one hand ( not that it has ever crossed my mind......)

I'd like to watch that .

And video the expression on your face .

It is a weird pleasure of mine to watch a winning game one quarter a night in the week following a match. Quarter 2 is the go tonight. Definitely excited to see that Jordie tackle again.

Yes, being a Melbourne supporter sadly consumes far too much of my time.

I just spent 20 minutes debating whether or not we are likely to play on Sat night in Round 24 and whether that will ruin my birthday plans (stupid floating draw!!!). So sad.

I never get tired of yelling out a good loud 'JOOOOORDIEEEE' just to mke sure any opposition supporters remember the name each time he bangs into the bottom of a pack.

But that flying tackle, literally jumping over other players and hitting the tackle instead of worry about where he'd come down. The tackling equivalent of taking a speccie.

But have you ever seen anyone else leap over a player to apply a tackle so far from where he left the ground?

Probably, just wouldn't have committed it to memory. I remember seeing Jones jump over a guy on the way to kicking a trademark goal from fifty.

No disrespect to the act, it was fun to watch. Just from the buildup and the amount of time it took for me to find it, more than anything...

He's a little ranga superman. Rangaman.

And absolutely no prizes for guessing who is LAST on our list for average tackles per game, with an insipid 0.88 per game.

Hint....skinny, tall, high draft pick, still highly rated by some on these sites! Bruise free footy at it's worst.

Time long past to toughen up or head north.

I tell ya whats funnier than Jordies tackle though?? Stingas display pic with whelan bumping hirdy. I absolutely [censored] myself every time he posts and that comes up.

Here ya go ... awesome tackle!! I actually laughed when he did this

The other wonderful thing to note ( if the clip had gone 3 seconds more) is how quickly he bounced straight back up looking for the next contest.

Wow, impressive tackle. Thanks for the video, I spent a few minutes trying to find it and gave up.

His handballs are not wasted and I dont find too much wrong with his kicking. He wants to be at every contest and loves a tackle. He aint quick but gets to where he should be.

But damn the man looks ugly doing it - nothing silky about him at all.

In Summary

- doesnt burst from stoppages like Beamer - but gets clearances

- doesnt do the run downs like Flash used to do - but knocks up getting tackles

- doesnt look as sweet with his hands inside as the Gys but gives out as many effective h/balls

- doesnt look as silk as Trenners in tight but always there feeding the ball out

Proves to me that doesnt matter how good you look doing it as long as you get the job done and he is getting the job done and then some.

Anyone notice Jordan Gysberts quick reaction as well to help bring Martin to ground ?

Terrific effort by these two.

Looking forward to many "Jordie" moments - "The Gys and Macca show"

I hope this was noted to all the teammates in the review.

Gys had been tackled to the ground, and by the time "The Clamp" (don't know where I heard that, but I love it) made his tackle, Gys had done some speed-crawling that my 20-month-old would be proud of, to get to the contest & help knock the ball out of Dusty's hands. They are both just terrific.

Gysberts is just another level of talent. He is a freak.

His hands in close are as good as I've seen.

I'll take your word on that, Jaded. :)

gold. Trengove layed a great running / diving tackle too

and if it is the same tackle I am thinking of - which he was rewarded for - 10 seconds earlier he was cramping on the boundary stretching his leg. Pointed that out on one of the footy shows. Super effort

We really do have an exciting list don't we? Good times ahead.

In all the commotion surrounding Scully, it's important not to forget the other great young players we have such as McKenzie, Gysberts, Watts, Trenners, Howe, Nicholson, Strauss and so on.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
