The injury list according to melbournefc.com.au:-

Rohan Bail (knee) - 2 weeks

Aaron Davey (knee) - 4 weeks

Jack Fitzpatrick (ankle) - 4-6 weeks

Colin Garland (jarred ankle) - test

Jack Grimes (foot) - season

Mark Jamar (knee) - test

Neville Jetta (hand) - 2 weeks

Michael Newton (foot) - 4 weeks

Jake Spencer (knee) - season

Luke Tapscott (hamstring) - 1 week

Good to see Bail down to 2 weeks and that Garland's only jarred his ankle.

Jamar will play this week, passed him at Gate 3 on the way into the game and asked him myself. Handy source :)

I heard Bailey speak of Green and that he would be up for Richmond. Stated Green had played with discomfort before, and saw this game as being no different.

(It was reported Green rolled his ankle late against Fremantle and was on crutches after / the day after the game as a precaution).

The unavailability list (ordered by weeks):

Mark Jamar (knee) - test

Colin Garland (jarred ankle) - test

Luke Tapscott (hamstring) - 1 week

Rohan Bail (knee) - 2 weeks

Neville Jetta (hand) - 2 weeks

Aaron Davey (knee) - 4 weeks

Michael Newton (foot) - 4 weeks

Jack Fitzpatrick (ankle) - 4-6 weeks

Austin Wonaeamirri (personal) - indefinite

Jack Grimes (foot) - season

Jake Spencer (knee) - season

We're now missing ~4 of our best 22 (excluding the 'tests'), which I think is the best result in a fair while.

I think that was when the Freo player (can't recall who) came down on the back of Green's leg after Green marked and Green's leg was bent back under him. It's odd how for many players that could have resulted in a season ending knee injury, yet Green brushed it off as if nothing had happened; he's one tough hombre!

Old timer--5 would get into my best 22.

Luke Tapscott,Rohan Bail,Aaron Davey,Jack Grimes,Austin Wonaeamirri.

Although I must admit- Wonna may never come back and Grimes needs to kick better.

And thanks for placing the above in weeks- helps us other oldies.

Tappy still out is odd. Hope it's not masking something more sinister. Would have loved to see him on the push up King this weekend... not to be, as neither are playing.

I'm not an oldie, but no problems :P

I can see why you'd have 5 of those in the 22 - it's getting tough now.

Tapscott taking a bit longer to ensure his hammy is right, is fine with me.

You don't want to take risks with that.

Sorry young fella- however thought you were over 21 in early to mid 30's.. well that is getting on..most footballers are retired by then-old bugger...

Can't wait for Tapps to return.

Oldie? I'm sure the moderating wisdom will come, eventually.

Whilst at the gym after work I noticed a guy in the official MFC gear and I asked him if he was a supporter and he said he was one of the trainers. I got chatting with him about injuries and he devuldged the following;

1. Jamar won't play this week. He said Jamar has trained for the last 10 days and Jamar believes he is right but the club will give it one more week.

2. Davey is at least 5 weeks away

3. Tappy is more than likely to play after the bye as Casey have a bye this week therefore no match fitness.

Just a little bit for you footy club culture paraniods. This guy told me he and his crew used to work at Hawthorn and how vastly better Melbourne is to work for. He went onto to say Bailey is one of the most approachable guys he's meet and from the Prez down to the property steward everyone loves him. He said the respect players show all staff is like nothing he seen at Hawthorn, He made special mention of Col Sylvia.

Sounds like a club with there culture right to me.

BTW I didn't ask him about Tom Scully.

Disgrace.

Delete entire post then. Really no reason to post unless you have a detailed report about Scully's emotional well being, state of mind and living situation

It's always been that way.

Don't know, but we seem to play that way onfield. Just a thought!

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
