Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Ward 5 million for 5 years is just outrageous. If it is true the AFL must be so desperate to get GWS off the ground they are irresponsibly providing the Giants with bottomless pockets.

Mark Stevens is a grubby little attention seeker. no idea why anyone would believe him. He thinks he is far more important than he is. Absolutely no one 'in the know' will tell him anything other than a GWS PR person to drum up publicity.

It really is.

I don't believe Scully would commend the sort of money that is being discussed in the media, but gees if Ward is worth $1mil a year, I suppose Scully must be worth that much to them as well.

This GWS thing is a massive farce. The AFL should be ashamed that they have created this situation. I completely understand the need for new teams to get going quickly, but to give them the ability to throw millions at young, contracted players, is a joke.

They have broken the rules in doing this. Wonder if there will be any punishment. Highly doubful but it is clearly unfair for the Bulldogs.

Stevens has an appalling record of inaccuracy. Appalling! He once confused big fat Brian "BT Bristle" Taylor with skinny willow-the-wisp Brian Taylor, the Subiaco back pocket.

Is Judd worth 500 a year? no

Will they win a flag ?

No

Is Ward worth a mill a year- dreamin .

haha what? judd isn't worth the same as we were paying Cam Bruce? Pull your head in Captain.

I have it on good authority, my sources say, and so does my neighbor, that a duel Brownlow medalist is worth 500,000

Maurie,

Hats off to you for being able to take 5 words out of a 21 word sentence to completely change the nature said sentence. You should be a journalist.

I do not think Melbourne is a dump.

Quite clearly I was putting hypothetical words in Tom's mouth:

But it is flattering to be taken out of context.

Unless you were taking the [censored]...

Mate judd is worth at least $800k a year. he not only is one of the best leaders of men on the field, the endorsements you would get from a $$$ perspective by having him in your colours and the membership base would be amazing.

And the fact that he is in the top 5 players in the league helps as well

GCS seemed to be well organised and lead with a clear plan. Not sure if I get the same feeling from GWS.

NB: I am not even game to discuss the $ amounts offered, the timing of the offer and the implications that may have for the MFC.

"Clubs cannot lose more than one uncontracted player to GWS unless by agreement, which means that if Ward agrees to go, then any offer to Wood would have to be withdrawn. The deadline Ward was left with appears to position GWS for a meaningful tilt at Wood"

Just noticed this in the HeraldSun regarding Callan Ward from the Dogs. Does that mean if Morton goes to GWS, they cannot take Scully?

That hit might be worth taking...

It does and it doesn't.

Last year, the same rules were in place, but GC convinced both Rishcitelli and Brennan to leave Brisbane.

I've heard from someone in the business that Sheedy was foxing with his talk of recruiting the Selwood brothers, but actually is heavily into Ben and Sam Reid.

They have chased Pendlebury, Swan and Thomas knowing Collingwood would neve let them go, but also that it would price the pies out of being able to keep Reid.

Ben is out of contract next year though, and I'm not sure of the status of Sam.

The brothers have connections to Sydney with their uncle (?) having worked for many years at the Swans, I think as recruiting manager.

GWS is not going to say to us: 'OK, which one do you want to give us?'. They will go after Scully until either they get him or he signs with us. If he signs with us, then they'll move their attention to Morton.

It's like a millionaire who wants to buy 1 car. He doesn't start by looking at the Subaru until he's tried to find the Ferrari first. Why buy the Subaru when there's the chance of a Ferrari? Bad example, but you get the drift. GWS won't just take Morton if they can get Scully.

At any rate, as was the case with GC and Brisbane, if GWS can convince one player to sign under the agreement, they can always trade for a second one, or convince them to walk and nominate for the draft. There are ways in which GWS can get two players from one club.

this is so typical. Bulldogs lodge a complaint to the afl about gws breaching the player poaching regulations, Melbourne just roll over and do nothing about it. typical

GWS haven't done anything wrong with scully. THey havent offered him or spoken to him. Maybe the reason he has come out and said this is because he has signed (ward). They gave him 2 weeks to sign. Interesting this is.

So typically ignorant.

The bulldogs have to be able to prove that GWS has approached Callan Ward during the season.

Ward appears to have confirmed it.

GWS, by Scully's admission, have not had any contact with him, and won't until the end of the season, in accordance with the rules.

For us to prove otherwise, Scully would have to confirm an approach from GWS that has not happened.

There is no restriction on GWS having contact with any player's manager.

I am developing paranoia, I have that bird from the Simpsons tapping refresh for any updates....If this is worth anything at all, Petterd thinks Scully will stay. My mate was at a fundraiser, which Ricky was at. Naturally, in my state, rather than pass on my thanks for the defination of forward pressure on the weekend, I made him ask Ricky Bobby about Scully to which he replied, "I think he will stay". What else was he meant to say, but a small hit for my addiction.

One thing I have noticed of late is the repeated use of the line "happy to be back playing footy". Tom keeps using it. Lynch keeps using it.

There's a noticeable omission of the fact he's happy to be back playing footy for Melbourne. That part seems to have been dropped. Don't like picking apart words but it's grating on me that references to the MFC are becoming less and less.

Personally I think the lad is gone. Would love to be proved wrong.

Lol what?

Are Melbourne aware that the GWS have made an offer to Tom? They may suspect it, but as long as Tom and his management continue to deny it there's nothing much they can do about it till the end of the year.

The Bulldogs are rightly making a complaint because there aware that Callan has been made an offer outside the rules. Young Callan has been transparent about the issue. Considering the circumstances it's actually quite admirable.

GWS havent confirmed speaking to Scully.

Velocity have confirmed no approach or "discussions"

Tom Scully has confirmed no approach or "discussions"

We should lodge a complaint - why ?

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. By the time they worked out it was game on, their opponents from Box Hill had accumulated five goals and, if the game wasn’t over, it might as well have been. For a se

A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
