Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - JACK VINEY

Why are we worried about getting Viney? We've got the third pick, we take the best available. If he's not it at 3 and GC or GWS pay over for him that's great isn't it?

Because we have been so good in picking the best available over the last 5 years!!

Reality is two years running we may get screwed by an expansion club .... At least we do get an opportunity to grab JV still. But never the less this year we need to get as much talent in possible. Not just talent the right talent !

It would be an indictment to on the MFC to allow us to be yet again bullied by the new commers. We deserve our pick ... 3, 4, 13 because JV should be rightfully ours there after. This shouldn't be an issue, I reall hope JV tells the suns and gws he is Melbourne

Fair enough.. i agree.

But not all were presented with an award for the 'best player'..

Sheehan reserved that for the best player over the ten matches, that deserved an extra highlight..

on a show that is there to do just that.

..and this year it was Wines.

Having them both, him and viney as really good mates, on the team would be awesome and id expect an indigenous type connection between them..

I've been pumping up Toumpas a bit but wouldn't be disappointed to pick up Wines if that's how the cards fell.

I don't know about this concept of us being terrible at chosing the right talent. There is always some level of concensus across the board on draft days. Surely, our lack of success is more significantly influenced by other areas, for example, our development of players within the club?

What I find most interesting about this whole saga is the commitment made to JV before MN came on board. I think having him photographed wearing demons gear etc., a year or 2 before we know where he's going to play, seems rather unprofessional and laid our cards out on the table in an antagonistic manner. I would love to see JV at Melbourne but I would be slightly sceptical about our process if he were picked at no.3. The fact that his name is Viney and we have made a semi-commitment shouldn't influence who we pick at 3.

Whitfield, Grundy, Toumpas are 3 ahead of Viney.

You could argue Wines, but he's about on par.

If GC bid, they get Viney and we get Grundy and Toumpas - excellent result for us with 3 and 4.

Then look foward to our mid round pick, hopefully Garlett/Wines/Stringer/Kennedy - one of these should be there.

Then we a pick in the 20's and hopefully can gain another pick in the 20's through trading.

We should have a good draft, Viney is just a small part of our draft outcome.

I just hope we take a stand if GC bid and show that we have a bit of back bone.

Others disagree and everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

The reason why I dont think GC will bid, is because they will think that in two years time, we will still be down near the bottom of the ladder and we could get Viney through a PSD in the future and they could lose him for nothing.

The risk of taking him at 2 is massive for them.

Go to the MFC sight and listen to what Sheehan has to say about Viney. There was nothing wrong in promoting Jack as a Melbourne player because at that time the old rules of father/son drafting probably applied. Little did we know that Suns and now Silvagni is now saying that GWS will look at Viney. Again we get shafted. Why do the "rules" change when we just seem to have something going in our favour.

You see thats helpful, you can be nice.

But ive kinda grown attached to ma tahoma after all these years.

I'll make sure i post like this, whenever im posting in your threads or responding to your posts though..

Then everyones Bexed..

I've been pumping up Toumpas a bit but wouldn't be disappointed to pick up Wines if that's how the cards fell.

Jimmy Toumpas - you dont want to put pressure on the kids, but its easier to use a past player instead of listing a dozen different qualities to say how you feel about them..

and boy does this kid remind me of Andrew McLeod screaming thru the middle of the ground.. and skills!.. ridiculous.

He has a weird gait, but that'll be sorted soon enough.

Then theres Grundy.. he's just nipping at everyones heels for mine.. come along in leaps and bounds (literally) imo this year..

If the cards fell our way Toumpas would go 2 as you would expect, leaving us Wines, Grundy, and Viney 2nd round.. that would be my preference.

If not, Toumpas and Wines for me and hopefully a stringer or mayes might fall to 14.. if we dont trade it.. and i'll regard GCS in the same vein as i do the filth.

We will not be passing on Viney! We hope to get him as a 2nd rounder but will take him at pick 3 if we have too.

If we decide too pass on him, the MFC will deconstruct in 10 seconds!!!

how i would like it too work out;

Pick 3 - Brodie Grundy

Pick 4 & a player - Trade too GWS for MD Jack Martin

Pick 13 - best available. I dont want Caddy! Prefer another quick run & carry mid.

Pick 26 - Jack Viney

In the end, I will be very happy if we land Viney & Grundy! They will set the tone for this footy club!

Pressure might have just gone off pick 3 for Jack a whisker if reports on Adelaide wanting the highest price for Tippett are true. Could it be GCS please cough up pick 2 time? Hope so.

The only reason we are having this discussion about whether he is a top 3/4 pick or a 5 to 8 pick is because we did so badly in 2012. If we had won a few more games we wouldn't have picks 3 & 4, they would be in the 5 to 8 range! So the discussion is rather futile really.

Lets just get him, whatever it takes!

Viney will be the best pick up Melb has made in the last 10 years .... you just watch.

As Emma Quayle tweeted "future captain".

So pick 3 - no sweat.

Oh Yeah like Scully was and Watts

Oh Yeah like Scully was and Watts

No, the way Selwood is.

MFC supporters have get over the fact that not everything is designed to kick them in the groin and that sometimes good things fall in their lap.

This is an 'rpfc gaurantee' - you will love Jack Viney.

Who is to say that our pick 23 will not turn out better then pick 3? Obviously it would have been great to have pick 3 and use 23 on Viney but let's face it our low draft picks in recent years havnt been a raging success and I keep banging on about player development. If we do not develop these kids it doesn't matter where they are drafted. I like many get caught up in what draft picks we have because it's been the only real significant part of the MFC in recent years but tbh I'm over draft picks. I just want kids who want to play afl and give it everything they have without coasting by on junior talent. Jack Viney is worth more to us then any other club if we use pick 3 so be it he has the potential to be one of the best in the draft and one of the better players we have recruited in years.

FFS just take him at 3! We have committed 5 years to him in 2010 so I have no doubt we will take him then! This was always going to happen but look on the bright side, with Viney Wellingham Dawes Byrnes and whoever we take at 4 then its a great recruitment year for the dees.

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
