Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I caught up with an old mentor from my Carey Grammar days today. We spoke at length about school footy and in particular young Jack.

What I loved to hear was that he indeed went out of his way to get under Wojcinski's grill. What jockey-sized schoolboy tries to rough up a disgruntled 31-year-old Geelong Cat and (psychologically) succeeds?

If he falls to a second round pick then I'll be thrilled for the FD. Having said that I'll be equally as happy if he is taken at pick 3. "Culture changer" is an apt description of Jack. But he can't do it alone so that's where we need to get 3 and / or 4 + 13 right.

You'll like this from Knightmare Deers.

"I really value what Viney brings to the table. He strikes me as a culture changer. He is one of those few rare guys who from season one will really strike fear in the minds of the opposition and I expect with his attack on the ball and agression that it will really influence others to follow his example. He is one of those types where you want him on your team and his competitiveness and hardness rates up there and in my view exceeds that of Joel Selwood and Luke Hodge.

I have plenty of faith in Viney and have seen more than enough of him over the past two years to be sold on his game. But it's these intangibles that really puts him ahead of the others in my mind."

Anyone had a good read of bigfooty lately? The Western Bulldog supporters are hilarious in the type of desperate scenarios they try to come up with that would make it beneficial for GWS and GC to bid on Viney. Most out there unrealistic scenarios Iv seen in a long time.

This coming from a guy who browses DL on a daily basis.

Speculation in today's Age that Jack Viney will be nominated at #2 by the Gold Coast Suns next month - Suns could put heat on Dees for Viney

The question is how would Melbourne respond?

It would be tempting for the Dees to take Grundy and Toumpas or O'Rourke with picks 3 and 4 giving us a terrific combination of tall & midfielder with the possibility of young Jack doing a Scully after 2 development years on the Coast and asking for a trade back to Melbourne.

Interesting times ahead!

Here is what I don't understand. Why doesn't he pull a Nik Nat?

Come out publicly saying that he has lived around the country but that he want's to stay in Melbourne as he feels it's his home and he'll play his best here. The kid is going to play AFL and get drafted by someone so it's not like he's doing a disservice to his chances on draft day.

That way GCS and GWS know that he'll ask to be traded home after 2 years if they chance their hand. It's not draft tampering by us as there is plenty of precedents of this by other players and I think it set's him up well as a future player for the club that he is 97% likely to play for anyway. He starts the relationship on the right foot.

There is nothing I have seen that makes me sure that O'Rourke or Toumpas will be better than Viney. Watch the finals and work out who you would want to be in the trenches with when we rise as a finals contender. If we need to take him at 3 we take him as he is worthy of that pick but fingers crossed they dont nominate and we score him in the second round.

We will not pick up viney with pick number 3, I cannot see it happening! Not that he isn't a good player but the fact of the matter is he is not the second best player in the draft, so by gold coast nominating him they will effectively waste their first round pick on a player who will come back and play for Melbourne anyway!

Il put it like this, if there is a lance Franklin, a Gary ablett and a Matthew pavlich in the draft, and we had Nathan jones as our father son pick, and the club before us said they will take Nathan jones ahead of one of those players, we will happily say fine, and take two of the others! Our recruiting hasn't been flash granted but there is always a time to start, and this year heres hoping we do!

Yes we will, if that's what it takes.

Its as though everyone thinks we can sneak one past the guard. Well if we can good luck to us but the club will know that the most likely outcome is having to ante up. If it can get away with a 2nd rounder it will ( of course ) but thats a bonus, not the expected. Hes worth a top pick to us. We're trying to have our cake and eat it me thinks by many a view.

All things are connected and after the season proper has ended and when formal approaches CAN be made to other players the lay of the land might start to form. Any which way it will be poker faces all round come Oct 8 .

We shouldn't fall for draft tampering, but I really don't see gold coast nominating him anyway! But I think viney will be coming to the club with pick 20odd or after 2 seasons at gc

Everyone thats saying he can simply come back after 2 years..Why would we wait. It will cost us as much then as now to secure him. GC wouldnt just hand him up. After 2 years in the system and more than likely a gun, he'll cost. (probably more

Why not simply admit this , pay up if we have to and have the benefit of having him now, have others around him enjoying it too.

Im sick and tired of planning for 2-3 years down the track by playing with some swap card mentality collecting picks etc. Picks etc are there to be used. ,not collected and banked as such, theyre the coin of the football realm. Yes, you are supposed to spend it, just wisely.

Not if they want Tippett. I am sure Crows will tell them if they want Tippett, they better have pick 2 left to trade with.

Totally agree! All these other clubs dont want us to be in this golden position we are in..too bad so sad...theres always ways around these situations...we will see wont we..

I really want Viney but MFC know best, end of story.

In the article there is no quote about the suns even thinking about taking Viney. There is speculation and that is it. I wouldn't be shocked to see a G.W.S contemplate Viney article soon as well. This is an article for the sake of one, nothing more.

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin ventured down to Gosch's Paddock to bring you his observations from this morning's Captain's Run including some hints at the changes for our ANZAC Eve clash against the Tigers. There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
