Don't want to be the "Devils Advocate".

But that was against boys. I'm just grateful he will get a full season of VFL under his belt before he plays in 2013.

Because with the reputation that will preceed him in that 1st game he plays, he will be hammered like there is no tomorrow.

Typically "Welcome to the Big Time Jack"

I'm still looking forward to it and what he dishes back. It''ll be worth going a long way to see.

Yeah your right, but i see him taking it more the way Bull did, having a big enough body to dish some back in reality. Viney is solid, he doesnt have a mans body quite yet but he doesnt have a kids either. also he will have 1.5 preseason under his belt in reality.

That's the first footage I've seen of him playing and (even if it is against kids) I am really impressed. He seems to have a knack of finding a bit of space and time. He's clearly a terrier when he tackles and his disposal looks decent. It's also pretty clear that his understanding with the ruck was spot on. If he develops that sort of bond with big Max we'll be laughing for the next decade.

just watched the highlights and...A LEFTY WITH A RIGHT BOOT!!!

exciting looking talent, seems to have good disposal by foot and hand and takles like a trengove.

Devil's advocate?? More like muppet master. What kind of comment is that?? He was playing against players older than himself. Doesn't change his speed or commitement to the contest.

You really need to check what team you follow.

I watch the vision of his highlights for Vic Metro and recall the ripping game he played in the TAC Cup grand final and I know one thing.

Even though his team, the Oakleigh Chargers produced the most players selected from one club in all of Australia including three of the top 11 picks who went to GWS - Congratulations to Oakleigh Chargers Magnificent 7 - we have the best of the lot of them and he's still a year away from being drafted.

I'd like to put him in cotton wool for 12 months, give him the #31 jumper now and unleash him in round one, 2013, preferably against Sheedy's mob if he still has the gig.

Bring it on!

3 weeks for that tackle at 53 seconds

God I wish he could play next year.

If Tim Watson could play at 15 why can't we play this kid already???

Reminded me of Boomer Harvey (whom I detest) the way he can extract the ball from a contest and find space...

More Daniel Kerr than Scott West.

Actually, I think he looks a bit Todd Viney. Very fierce at the ball and the player. Unfortunately, on the limited amount of vision available, his kicking action looks a bit that way as well. Hopefully they are addressing this now!

To those saying he's just playing against boys, anyone think of the fact that he was bottom aged and playing against the best of the best in the U18 carnival? Really we should be talking about how this young bottom aged kid was able to monster older opponents...

Joel Selwood-like in my opinion. Is it known if he will play Under 18's in 2012 or will he actually play some games at Casey?

I understood the club have to ask the AFL if they will allow him to play games with the Scorps..?

Clarification?

Clarification?

This is my understanding, we will or have asked, not clarification to my knowledge, would be great for him, Swallow did it for the GC so it better not be an expansion thing....

IMPORTANT QUESTION,

Does Jack have a brother? and if not why the hell not!!!!!

Brother's name is Max and is a couple of years younger.

Let's hope that he avoids the pressure of bang Jack's younger brother and if he wants to play football will be able to do so on his own name and ability without being compared with Jack.

If he even wants to play football, might like soccer, would be nice if he can though

If MFC were to trade its 1st pick next year then another team before us on draft day picks Jack Viney, does that mean we can't pick him. And how do the compensatory picks for scully fit into this?

No once we nominate him as Father son he is ours, the Father son bidding takes place at the start of Trade week if someone below us on the ladder is willing to use there first round pick Jack will cost us our first round pick. The Compensatory Picks for Scully don't come into the picture at all for Father Son only you standard Draft picks. Due to the club committing to Viney the clubs below us on the ladder will make us give up our first round pick in the draft.

I love that intro (from memory) -"Jack Viney used to tackle so hard and so often that it was suggested - not so quietly - that he move up an age group. He was nine at the time."

It's in him, the hunger. Looking forward to 2013 already.

Watch out Mr Dunderfield!!

THE ACCIDENTAL DEMONS by The Oracle

In the space of eight days, the Melbourne Football Club’s plans for the coming year were turned upside down by two season-ending injuries to players who were contending strongly for places in its opening round match against the GWS Giants. Shane McAdam was first player to go down with injury when he ruptured an Achilles tendon at Friday afternoon training, a week before the cut-off date for the AFL’s pre-season supplemental selection period (“SSP”). McAdam was beginning to get some real mom

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the

We'll break down the Match SIM against North Melbourne and wrap up the preseason with insights into training and our latest recruits. I apologize for skipping our annual season review show at the end of last season. After a disapponting season filled with off-field antics and a heated trade week, I needed a break. Thankfully, the offseason has recharged me, and I’m back—ready t
