Sub.

He'll be embarrassed, not to mention livid.

Will come on in the third/last and destroy; will find some small amount of redemption.

The entire playing group, but more importantly the youth will understand this move without any explanation necessary - nobody is safe.

Yeah agree, sub next week or maybe forward pocket plus a word in the ear that one more shocker and its definitely the magoos.

Terrible idea. Make a creative player play a negator. May as well ruck him for 4 quarters.

smartest thing you have said for a longtime Rhino..............I like it

he did take a mark once sitting on Richo's shoulders.....maybe he can ruck as third man up?

How the hell is that absolute garbage?

Kerr, Embley, Cox, Glass are premiership winning, multiple AA awarded A grade players.

Green and Davey are a significant step below that. Rivers is about 4 steps below that, and they are half of our leadership group. Moloney is good, but he is no Kerr, Jones is average and Grimes has 30 games to his name and a heap of injuries.

Well done Jaded, a really good piece, putting things into perspective.

I can't be bothered doing that research to prove the points you have. I just take the attitude that if they cant realise it themselves, with their own internal analysis, that no amount of positive talk will do it.l

But I'm starting to realise that some, really just can't see the development happening, and so are Panicking big time. Even with us up near the 8. And with us about to get some of our best players back in the next 2 - 4 Week.

We're Not a top 6 team, Yet. But we are on our way towards becoming a finalist team next Year. We'rd just out of the 8, even with the fact we haven't hit top gear Yet.

Either put him back in a forward pocket for the major bulk of the game or send him to Casey. Only two choices.

I agree

it could mean dreamonlanders know nothing?

or you could look at the list and conclude yourself that all 15 have done more damage than he has this season

What has [censored] me off is what little protection he gets from his teammates out there. Anytime Riewoldt was near Aaron, he'd give him a good whack.

Didn't once see anyone come over and give one back.

If you think Flash has been a Top 5 Player this year, you do not expect much do you, or ever really believe that the MFC will win a 13th Flag.

Dee-luded what you say may be true however i would disagree with your time line.

We are a lot longer off being a finalist than 2012.

When we had the guys playing who are coming back we were crap, so I am not sure they will make a lot of difference in the next few weeks.

There is only one A grader among our senior ranks and it will IMO take longer than next year to produce a suitable number of A grade players.

Until then we have lots of pain to endure, it does not stop at the end of 2011.

Yes they do.

And that is why we aren't very good.

The quicker Trengove, Watts, Scully, McKenzie, et al. become our top players the better.

I agree. I was referring to a team that is firing...Aaron Davey is not a top player, he has skills yes but he is not a top player.

The 4 players you mentioned are above him already.....sad but true.

If Aaron proves me wrong for the rest of his career, well then good.

We might not make finals in 2012 - so much depends on variables out of our control - but it's certainly plausible.

I think we can be a far better football team this season with our best side (excluding Grimes) out there.

Furthermore, looking to 2012 not many players face an age-related decline, while it's fair to expect progression from many younger guys.

Throw Trengove and Scully alongside him in the midfield (where Flash plays best, and immediately the pressure comes of Aaron.

Look at how quickly Daniel Kerr's game deteriorated when Judd and Cousins were no longer playing alongside him.

Please explain why what I said was absolute garbage.

And tell me how our senior players are better than WCE's senior players.

No chance mate, it not about discussion on here, just telling it like it is with a big full stop at the end.

And yeah, I don't think anyone can argue that the WC senior group isn't better than ours in every way because ours is verging on non-exisitant. The problem I have with that is that leaders learn from leaders. Are we doing enough to mentor the next generation of leaders?

Posted

That won't happen

we would have to change the game plan

There has been no one in the forward 50 for 2 years

you are asking for a revolution.

There is a better chance of me getting a game on friday night.

Maybe a revolution is what is needed at Dee-land. Can't hurt.

He is, or should be, a top 5 player at this club.

He has had consistent seasons up to 2011 and has gone missing as the responsibility has increased.

He wouldn't be in the top 10-12 players in the Bluey and that is an indictment.

And, no, he is not a top player. But he is still in the top 5 right now at this club and he is performing like a fringe player.

He is certainly not getting paid like a fringe player!

But thats the problem most of the older guys are giving us very little.

WE need good games from the senior players while the young ones develop.

Why will that change when they are one year older?

We simply are not getting it from them, I cannot see them getting better

No doubt he is hurting over his performance and "that" moment and will be determined to redeem himself. He is a class player down on form and confidence. He does have the "X" factor when he is up and running so its important to the MFC that he gets his form and confidence back. He has runs on the board from his performances over many years and deserves another chance but if the effort is not there on Friday night then banish him to Casey and perhaps off the list altogether. He simply needs to TRY and if he does that things will start to fall into place.

Don't forget we a long injury list and are coming up against a team renowned for their fast and hard running. I think he should line up in a defensive role against Betts or Gartlett. Its much easier to negate than create and hopefully this will give him some confidence and he (and us) can then move on from there.

Dropping him to Casey is the last option - I don't think we are there yet!

WYL, you rate Davey not being in the top 5 this year based on two very poor games he has played.

Yet stats do not lie. 2nd in kicks, 4th in disposals over-all and 6th in tackles.

I really hope he tears it up on Friday and gets back to his best over the next few weeks. If this does not happen I will stand corrected.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
