Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

We've got a coach in our Midst.

He has had his opportunity. I think it would be a big mistake. He plays the role of the funny man and is a bit of a bullsh*t artist quite frankly. Blunt, I know, however true.

Melbourne needs to look outside the past players for a coach. A change in culture is needed and this could come with an appointment from outside the club.

I dont think he was tough enough at Freo. They reminded me a lot of Melbourne when he was there. Did you watch the Norm Smith clip on an earlier post? Does CC have that passion / aura? If he does then thats who we want. I dont think he does.

Why hasn't any one thought of it before Now?

And another in Viney along with many so called senior experienced assistants. Need to gain a more experienced successful coach- such as Matthews-Malthouse etc..with a little thought of having back Neil Daniher.

All this doom and gloom - yet we are in the eight at the moment and nine teams aint. Granted, we're not playing as well as we'd like, but if we're in the same position at the end of round 22 will we require a new coach?

There are aspects about the way we play I don't like (I'd like us to keep at least one forward forward at all times, for example) but I'm prepared to accept that Bailey is in the best position right now to know what needs to be done to fix the malaise. If towards the end of the year we've underperformed against reasonable expectations, then I'd expect Bailey's position to be questioned. But not now. I seem to recall Geelong had a horror start to a year before they climbed up off the canvas, and 2.5 wins out of 5 is not a horror start.

You obviously havent been watching us play closely enough or you dont understand the game.

We won't be. I don't know if you've actually been watching us play, but the nature of your post suggests you haven't. We were matched by Brisbane for long periods, gave up against Hawthorn and West Coast, and were forced to fight back into the game against Sydney. Ladder position only matters once you have played the 16 other teams, a few of 'em twice.

What would you consider to be a reasonable expectation? I would say ten wins based off last season. Right now we're behind the 8-ball on that, based on where I see us relative to the rest of the competition.

if Connolly was appointed coach it wouldn't be a good look and would stink of conspiracy and undermining from within, similar to the way Grant Thomas got the job at StKilda.

IMO it would just stink altogether.

concur...wouldnt look good at all. Strangely enough he had a 52.3% strike rate which isnt too shabby But I dont think hes the man we need.

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
