Who would a new coach chop?

If Bailey is farewelled in 2011 (and I think he might be, but near the end of the season) which players of our top 25 would face the axe?

I have given this some thought and have come up with the following, even surprising myself:

Sylvia. I don't reckon other coaches would accept the extensive periods of mediocrity he delivers. I love this bloke at his best and picked him to be our best Brownlow chance prior to season start. He has let me down - again!

Morton. Has not deliverd, and I don't reckon anothr club would offer us a top 20 pick in exchange.

Dunn. 7 years of inconsistency = not enough reasons to keep him.

Newton. see above re Dunn.

Sadly, Brad Green would not survive as Captain, at least not in light of what his leaderhsip has produced so far.

Thoughts?

Newton would go. Others would stay right now simply because a la Richmond there's not enough mature players right now.

First,

Thats a bit harsh - at least they are getting a game. Look at Bate, Maric, Macdonald etc who cant hold a spot in the side.

Morton needs time (and a new coach) to find his role in the side. To me he looks like an early days Goddard, not sure of where he fits in the game. We loose Sylvia we loose a big strength in the midfield.

Dunn and Newton I have no problems with.

Moreton,Bennel, Newton,Spencer, Wonna Silvia and Green unfortunately Maybe trade Grimes to a team that doest need a good kick!

Correct. With a tough Coach, Col will play Gun Football...Last night was not entirely his fault, not excusing him-but each time he went near the ball it seemed 5 Wet Cokes were following his every step.

Col Sylvia stays on our list.

Sylvia and Morton would not get the 'axe' but a new coach might look at trading them (like a Johnstone for pick 14). I don't rate Morton so I would accept a 2nd or 3rd round pick. Sylvia should be kept because his best football is better than any other current MFC player and we have put too much hard work into developing him. He just has to iron out a few of his flaws (like having a go at Stef Martin for tripping him up when he had the ball) and deliver more consistent good performances between his great and pathetic games.

Wonna doesn't look like getting back to his 2008 form... injuries have cruelled him and i think he has lost the hunger. Wonna, Bennell, Jetta and Maric are all fighting for the small forward role and 2 or 3 of these guys would get the chop under a new coach.

Newton Dunn and Bate would all be looked at closely and Spencer is not required if Martin keeps improving and we have Gawn/Fitzpatrick waiting in the wings.
