Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I hate reactionary garbage on Demonland but this game has really just done it for me.

There are no valid excuses for losing a game mentally, physically and statistically in the first 5 minutes of a match, against last year's wooden spooners no less.

Yep. I tried so hard to follow him with blind faith. I believed the party line but we have no heart. None. Either we get rid of 22+ players or we sack the coach and start again and I couldn't put up with another @#$%ing rebuild.

I reckon we could even get a Coach fund going. Some say we can't afford a TOP TOP line coach, well we did DD, what about the NCFF (New Coach Fighting Fund) I don't even have a job atm, but I'll contribute whatever I have got

We cant afford to not get a top coach.

Sorry Hannabal, did I give an opinion on the coaching situation? I merely gave an opinion on this thread.

Is that stating the obvious enough for you? Maybe I'll rephrase it as a statement, rather than a rhetorical question, if that makes it more obvious.

James McDonald was FORCED to leave, now it's baileys turn.

He was 34 and it was the right decision. In fact, Bailey has been sensational for our list management.

He's a great manager, or second in command, but he's not a great senior coach. Mind you, he's got terrible leaders at his disposal. Davey, Moloney, Sylvia, Green are simply not A graders.

This year I have been so frustrated with how the dees have progressed.

They have definately the worst intensity and work ethic during matches in the competiton, and especially during Bailey's 4 years nothing has barely changed.

Bailey i rarely notice gets fired up and emotional during matches, and this translates to the players efforts on the ground, as many players are flat-footed and not giving a s*&^ about applying defensive pressure or tackling.

Bailey's 'game plan' is extremely easy for opposing clubs to manage, and when it isnt working melbourne are in great trouble.

The club must become serious and appoint a coach who is passionate, tough, mean and knowledgeable who will allow the MFC to progress into a premiership contender.

Seriously Malthouse should be the number 1 target. The filth players are ALWAYS RUNNING and presenting, tackling, etc and hopefully a good coach like Mick could totally change the playing style and intensity of the team.

As much as i dislike the Essendon Bummers, Hird is someone who the PLAYERS RESPECT AND WOULD PUT THERE BODY ON THE LINE ANYTIME for the coach and this has been evident this year. There list is not too different from ours in quality, just the MFC need a new coach to progress and become a premiership contender.

Don't actually disagree with this, Baley has been great. But his reign has hit the wall. We need a real Hard Nose Coach now.

So sorry to have disappointed you. If a moderator deems my light hearted post to not be in keeping with the code of conduct, then I will happily let them remove it.

BTW, you're definitely more fun after a loss. It gives you so much more bravado.

I just don't get it, they had everything to play for and yet they watched on for the first 20 minutes. I don't think Bailey is a strong motivator or strategist.

Wellman was a big loss.

How did we go over in the west while Wellman was assistant coach recently? love how people can identify a single factor for this loss tonight. I watched us play Adelaide over there last year, with wellman coaching and I was just as, if not more disappointed then the loss tonight against the Weagles. mainly because the crows weren't playing as well as the weagles tonight, and we got thmuped just as badly. try again.

I'm not convinced he's been great as a list manager at all. Will agree that he made some hard culling calls, but we have so many small players. Poor old Jamar was simply overwhelmed and our foward line ex Watts are bloody midgets. Cook and Co. miles off, Martin gentle enough to tap dance on a cake without dinting it.

No mate, not saying its all about Wellman....but copping a hiding like this and not having a crack in the first quarter is mystifying

You're funny. I call it as I see it whatever the circumstances. Can you say the same ? I doubt you and the word "bravado" have ever been confused. LOL

But Bobby, I'm happy to hang it on the line. What have I said that you disagree with ? You have 9 years of material to work with.

One of the most concerning aspects of tonight's game was the ease with which our tackles were brushed off and equally worrying was the Eagles' ability to take marks under pressure when all too often we couldn't.We were rattled - no question.

We can understand it's a hostile environment over there and perhaps make some allowances - looks like a pretty important game coming up next.Aside from that

This may not be a popular sentiment at the moment but here it is:

Disunity is Death

I don't think sacking Bailey right now is going to solve anything. Don't like the idea of a caretaker coach for 18 rounds and there's zero chance of signing a Quality coach right now.

I've been a big Bailey fan around here and as was mentioned earlier his list management during our rebuild has been excellent. I was happy to see him get his extention last year because I thought he deserved a chance to prove himself as a match day coach capable of delivering a premiership. To be fair to Dean I thought he needed till at least mid season this year before we could make a reasonable judgement and as far as I'm concerned nothings changed.

I fully understand the anger around here right now but I don't think we'd gain anything by sacking Bailey instantly. Might not hurt to start considering possible options but I still think Dean's got maybe 6 weeks to turn it around

Tee hee. I'm laughing at you using the word 'bravado', deriding my masculinity and then followed it up with a 'lol'.

Very manly, cupcake.

I only object to one thing you say.

I see no proof yet that his list management has been "excellent"

He has gutted the experienced players and bought in players almost to man who are players of 2-3 years time.

We have little proof that a large number of these will make it.

Only hope at this point.

Now is not the time for sackings but if the last five game effort continues I see no reason why he should continue past June 30.

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. By the time they worked out it was game on, their opponents from Box Hill had accumulated five goals and, if the game wasn’t over, it might as well have been. For a se

A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
