If things continue as they are - we will be having meaningful chats with Mick.

But...

Some of you are embarrassing yourselves; Collingwood are the team they are because of the structures and discipline that Mick has helped to ingrain off the field.

Talk of an 'evil eye' or an intimadatory glare at breaks being 'what we need' is absolute rubbish.

I wish it were that simple.

Bailey may lose his job, and if he does he should thank the 'leadership group.'

Many of you believe they will develop their consistency and desire for the contest under a new coach - I don't.

If Bailey goes then this year is a failure and I would sack Green and the LG. And start again, with players under 25.

All good points rpfc, but this club must find leadership onfield. It's not just the "evil stare" at 3/4 time. it's the respect right through the club.

What you say may well come true, thus we need a coach who is a real leader. Put it this way Rodney Eade is not the answer!!!

Yep... MM is all the rage.

He has created nothing.

Collingwoods "round the world (boundary) approach" and forward press has been happening for years.

They finally found, and trained players who could pull it off.

Seriously, can Mick do that at MFC? Give me a break!

Take Dawes and Cloke out. Then what?

Oh, I love hypothetical world!!

They won the flag, deal with it.

MM is a very good coach.

And if we could build something similar to what he built at Collingwood - I would be very happy.

So i speak rubbish huh... oh well... your opinion but quite frankly im gonna stick with bailey and when he gets us to where we all want to go I will just sit here quietly.... nuff said, so quick to criticise our kids and they are still kids!! if we are all a bit more patient... it will happen but thats my opinion dont rubbish me for that just because I have belief :P

(as a footnote all those teams did it tough someone mentioned they played finals, i also include finals in that the losses are NOT success but winning a GF is) if you look closely they ALL did it tough regardless if there are 10 richmonds in the comp (they all also spent time in the nether regions of the ladder too).... and further more richmond in a few years will eventually be a force too, teams rise teams fall (took seventy something years for the swans to finally get another majour on the board... so dont tell me they were all successful cos they had to lose finals before they won GFs which meant they did it tough. but yeah i probably shouldnt argue the point cos i will get told im speaking rubbish again .

I dont mind standing up for Dean at the moment as a paid up melbourne supporter ( i believe it gives me a right to speak as i do) I have read and heard everyones side of the argument some valid i thought some not, just think too many people are too quick to jump. Im gonna say lets stick with him because you just never know...

Bump.

I advocate taking a mil of that Bentleigh Club cash, putting it in a briefcase and leaving it on Mick's doorstep with Jimmy's number attached.

Thank god we didn't end up with that puffed up, over-rated has-been, Malthouse

I can remember when we signed his protégé. WYL was saying "yay, we got mini-mick."

Sorry WYL.

Yes i remember that to..Hope springs eternal

But alas he had not a clue..something i sadly realized along with many Round 1 2012

I wanted Ross Lyon or Roos as first choices, but a mini Mick it was, he had coached a premiership midfield

But that is not the same as a poorly run full club...we all learnt the hard way.

When I opened this page up my heart skipped a beat! Range Rover was back! That meant... MORE POLLS!

Alas you can understand my disappointment when I realized this thread was from 2011.

Interesting in the HUN today Mathieson is saying Carlton are the worst recruiters in the league.

He is on a witch hunt Mr. Swann your days might be numbered.

If he says go it is only a matter of time.

3 times premiership coach and you have to respect that but anyone who thinks Carlton can win a flag without any serious key position players is kidding themselves, I see them as a CHB, CHF and FF away from being a top 4 side,

How he didn't chase those key posts hard baffles me, Darcy Gardiner, Daniel Mcstay were both available during the draft at their pick and they didn't take either.

Their biggest mistakes were not making an offer for Boyd or Hogan and missing out on Cloke.

I think their biggest mistake was dumping Ratten and replacing him with Malthouse.

I also wonder whether trading for Chris Judd, as good as he's been, has in the end cost them too much by losing a quality KPF (Josh Kennedy) and another high draft pick. I think they were dreaming if they thought they could win a premiership before Judd retires. (Mind you, we wanted him...and we were even further away).

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
