A very unenjoyable win. A good side would have slaughtered us today.

I'm more worried about our Captain missing a set shot from 30 metres out.

Not alone ... there were also easy shots from Jamar and Wonna that missed.

Geez im nervous about our trip to the Gabba next week.

Absolutely not, we are a bloody good side who sadly today weren't able to replicate our normal standard and gameplan.

We will clean up next week don't you worry about that. The negativity around here is so bad!

Not much to be excited about. I went down to the pub to watch the second half, and it was a terrible game with lots of turn overs and skill errors (yes it was wet, but some of them were inexcusable). Gysberts is a star, racked up 25 possies and kicked a goal. I liked Martin today too. He was clean for a tall bloke and done some nice things. Moloney and Jones were pretty good with 63 disposals between them. Davey is really off and should be dropped for his performance in the last few weeks. Dissapointed that Watts had another fairly average game that resulted in him being subbed. Morton was useless coming on though.

I am not very confident doing into next week. A pretty awful game despite taking the 4 points.

That is not a very good idea. If Davey gets dropped, then our next most creative player will get tagged. That couldn't possibly be good for our side.

Have you guys got any idea what the interchange bench ended up today?

We had one rotation left. so i will take a win and celebrate.

There is really no pleasing some people!!

Obviously he is needed but his actual performances have been ver ordinary for a VC.

Like that 15 minutes into the first Q, was it?

We were just lucky they are a worse team than us.

Wonder if anybody will criticize Nathan Jones this week.....?

I will. Dropped a basic uncontested mark in the dying minutes that would have resulted in a goal (and Brisbane drawing level) if Rivers didn't take a great mark. Bailey wasn't happy with him for it either.

If Brisbane did kick a goal from that it would have almost completely undone all the good work Jones did earlier. Those kinds of basic mistakes should never happen in a game at the elite level.

That looked like two bottom-four teams spudding it out. Morton, go back to Casey!

Glad for the win though.

I would also say bring Warnock back in.

i am not disputing that. The first Quarter was shite. And many Demon sides would have lost that game in the past.

We never play well when we are Raging Hot Favorites-This time we pulled it back and hung on.

Good.

Fair enough, i missed that dropped Mark-( hate listening to a game on the Radio) But he and Maloney, & Rivers put in today.

They were good, but all of that can come undone in the blink of the eye through a player making basic mistakes.

We get great games from Moloney, Jones, Jamar, Jurrah Gysberts & yet still just drag ourselves over the line against a wooden spoon contender. Doesn't say much for the rest of the team, there must have been some pretty poor performances.

Morton was woeful. But it was hardly his conditions today. I'd leave him in and see how he goes on a dry track up at GC. But I definitely think we need Petterd in the team. There was just not enough targets to kick to up forward today. Maybe drop Watts for Rick (though I'm told Watts was decent early – I missed the first half).

Agreed, i am not letting anyone of the hook, but until this team gains confidence in themselves and gains more experience with such a young list i will take any win.

Back it up next week with a win on the road. Once again we will be Raging Hot Favourites.

Watts needs to play @ the Gabba next week, maybe his time to shine. I would even go as far as playing a couple of fresh faces also..

If he dropped that basic uncontested mark in the first 30 seconds of the game, you might not have remembered it. Look at what Jones did right and what he did wrong. If the good outweighs the bad, then I'd say he's had a good day, regardless of when his errors occurred. Having said that, perhaps he dropped the mark because he couldn't handle the pressure of the situation, in which case your point has more validity.

I think the monkey is off the back. Was a very loud rendition of a grand old flag afterwards.

I know we are bored with the whole quarters won spin, even brad green mentioned it after the game. But it's true. Today if we put 4 quarters together we win by 10 goals.

We are a young inconsistent side but as we proved last year a bit of confidence makes our young guns play like millionaires.

To note, davey still cant deal with a tag which prevents talking about him as an elite player.

I know scully is young but damn we are missing him.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
