Great to see! Just another proof that the people in control at the MFC have their heads screwed on the right way.

We should be impressed!

This is what I stated I'd like to see happen at the start of the initial Scully thread (pg 1). It's essential that our club use it's resources at it's disposal to help retain players and prevent them looking at or considering Giant offers from elsewhere. Must keep up with the Jones' ...or the Pratt's in the AFL vernacular.

This is all good. The Club being Proactive of what it has.

When Jim signed the agreement with the MCC a couple of years ago, he spoke of the MFC becoming one of the worlds biggest clubs. With steady planning & Growth it can be done.

Look at all the World Class sport that comes through Melbourne each year.

We are a long way off The Filth today, but we can match them in years to come, & hopefully surpass them-it is programs like this that will kick start this process.

It all starts with people wanting to be part of the MFC. When people ring or knock on the door of the club, that is an off field win.

I was fortunate to spend some time with vice-president Don McLardy at our internal practice match. He is extremely devoted, loyal to Jim and the Board with great insight. His stategic vision is excellent. By God how lucky are we to have such tremendous wealth, knowledge and experience. They, all the members of the Board, have extremely great business acumen and savvy individually. Altogether an optimum tool to take this almighty club to the top.

It's time this club pushed into the Community from the inside, with purpose.

That City Tram with our new Emblem on it is the start of the new strategy.

Awareness goes a long way...as long as the Team can back it up with some solid entertaining wins.

At the AGM just over 12 months ago- Cam mentioned we were going to do something with the Melb City Council referring to seeing the Red & Blue around the city. Maybe he was referring to this but held up as a marketing strategy until we got the new emblem.I saw it today, looks outstanding, I felt proud looking at it.WJ maybe alble to confirm this.

The ABC TV news used the Trams as a Promotion in the late 80's which you may recall, during that time our Ratings increased 3 fold for the 7PM news.

They are an effective way to increase awareness.

The Melbourne Tram is iconic in this city, i am more than happy some of my membership money is a part of them.

So true, it is out there and the emblem looks outstanding, just ready for the Community,to dig deep for the club to be involved with us. All the stall holders, small and large business houses in the MCC precint should be given a marketing/ membership drive to "Come on Board" -This is another tool to get the 40k membership and other possible sponsors. As you know, the Chairman of BHP -Jac Nasser is a staunch Dee follower- however I doubt if he is a supporter. We need to gain followers but also turn followers into Supporters.

Some who have been on this forum for a while may recall there was discussions about advertising and promotions. Trams were suggested back then. . They're great for getting in peoples faces. Good one Melbourne :)

Fantastic to see the club building itself as greater than a mere footy club, more like the great institution we've all imagined. There's more to life than footy ( yep apparently so ) and it's this perspective that the MFC is modeling itself with.

It'll take a while to show fruit but it's a highly commendable initiative .

I am. Very!

I was in the city the other day, waiting for the tram to pull up.

Didn't expect to look up and see James Frawley staring back at me. Impressive.

It's the new Emblem for me...it goes beyond just football, which i am sure is what the Club was after when it was produced.

In 10 years let us all hope that emblem is iconic within this city.

They say it's not what you know but who you know (or who you do, depending on how you roll), and we are fortunate enough to have plenty of supporters in high places.

We'd be stupid not to take advantage of that, especially in a competition where the playing field is far from even. Whatever it takes to get us to a premiership I say!

Interesting that the 2 WA teams have said today that they both wish to have "stand alone" reserves sides so they can fully manage their lists.

Maybe it will be the supporters who will fund our reserve side in the future, as you say anything for that small edge.

Great to see it in an article, but really the club would be derelict in it's duty of it didn't make use of the resources it has at it's disposal.

Just off the top of my head, I can think of a handful of people the club should be making use of that are very successful in their industries, yet their relatively low profile would mean they are anonymous to everyday supporters.

"Our ratings"??? You wouldn't still be presenting ABC TV news at 7PM by any chance would you, WYL???

Agreed; I think it will become more obvious over the next few years just how important having a stand-alone reserves team actually is.

Is it just a coincidence that the only two Victorian teams with their own VFL sides finished 1st and 2nd last year? Maybe, but then again....

THE ACCIDENTAL DEMONS by The Oracle

In the space of eight days, the Melbourne Football Club’s plans for the coming year were turned upside down by two season-ending injuries to players who were contending strongly for places in its opening round match against the GWS Giants. Shane McAdam was first player to go down with injury when he ruptured an Achilles tendon at Friday afternoon training, a week before the cut-off date for the AFL’s pre-season supplemental selection period (“SSP”). McAdam was beginning to get some real mom

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the

We'll break down the Match SIM against North Melbourne and wrap up the preseason with insights into training and our latest recruits.
