Jack Trengove, I take my hat off to you. Who said football was all about the money.

This just makes Scully's position even harder I guess. It's going to be a long year and this talk is going to continue week in, week out. Damian Barrett is convinced an offer "too good to refuse" has been made, and he is one of few journo's I pay attention too. He got a lot right last year (though, he got some wrong too). At the end of the day, Scully is a Demon now and it's not point looking too far ahead (like many of us, including me, were yesterday). Even Tom probably doesn't even know what he is going to do, so any other person's guess it just that.

It is nice to hear Jack speak about the club in this way; and hopefully it signals that he intends to stay with the club as long as they support him and offer him what he deserves.

What a great press conference it'll be when Scully announces his decision to stay.

Just visualise the characters around him, beaming and patting him on the back. The relieved, slightly embarassed smile on his face.

Keep that in your head, how good it would be.

Would you go into a final thinking about how sad it would be if we lost it? Only if you hated yourself!

Great read.

In all the Scully Talk, Jack T has flown a bit under the radar ... but he was no.2 pick that year, which isn't to be scoffed at.

Go Jack! Looking forward to a big game Friday night.

Surely you must be kidding!

Damien Barrett is one of the worst sports journalists going around.

There's a lot of bad ones, but he is an absolute shocker.

Agree. He's little more than a rumourmonger, and a [censored]-poor one at that.

Wait - I thought Trengove had a 3 year contract, running out in 2012.

According to this article:

Trengove, 19, signed a three-year contract extension with Melbourne last season and said he had every intention of playing out his career with the Dees.

I don't think this is correct, but if it is we are in a very good position.

Either way, the way Trengove is talking, he seems like a sure thing to stay.

What I'm enjoying in many of the papers and comments is people claiming that we should have offered the same deal to Scully. To the best of my knowledge, we did.

I'm pretty sure we didn't. I was under the impression we only offered a 3 year deal to Trengove and Tapscott to make them feel like they belonged in Melbourne or words to that effect

I didn't say he was a good journo, but quite a few of his predictions/rumours last year were in fact true. Like I said, many were wrong. At the end of the day, it's essentially a 50/50 guess either way, so of course journo's are going to say they 'know', because it's not hard to be right.

I am starting to think he will stay; really cannot see him in that horrible GWS jumper.

Like what?

I can't remember a single thing he got right.

Don't tell me you are going off his role on TFS where he just warmed the seat for Hutchy...

I knew there was a reason I loved Trennners so much, even before we drafted him!!!

He is fast becoming my Favourite Player!!!!

No, I was talking about the Friday night Triple M broadcast. He was confident about Gazza leaving early on, an unlike Hutchy and others, didn't change his mind every week.

Still, it means [censored] all. Jouro's essentially just here about potential 'offers' and base their stories on what THEY would do in that position. Most of them lack any sort of empathy or ability to understand that other people are difference and might not be motivated by money (Caro is the exception here).

Its a hard decision, but what Scully decides will dictate what he is thought of for years to come...

Leigh Colbert comes to mind, he wasnt thought of as highly when he left the cats for north...

Something that needs to be remembered is that Melbourne took Jeff White off the Dockers after 2 years, so we have been in a GWS situation before...

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
