The AFL really do not give a Damm, as long as a profit is made. This is what this all says.

The AFL bank on the fact that the Victorian supporter will support regardless of the situation.

Brayshaw is right. This fundamentally dismantles the draft system, not just for the MFC but for all, particulairly the Victorian Foundation clubs.

I wonder if Fuhrer Vlad will make a statement to the masses??

Posted

Vlad will state that there is no issue and that the system is fair and balanced.

Seriously i don't think he can get away with that rubbish spin any longer...This story will grow by the week during 2011.

This one is bigger than Ablett Jnr, as Gary had already made a career at Geelong...Scully is just starting the journey.

Now if Scully's manager is correct and nothing is yet to be signed, so be it. But i am still fascinated to hear what Vlad will say.

I cannot believe that 16 Presidents happily signed off on these conditions when these new Franchaises came to light.

I can't believe that Cam Schwab was on the committee that came up with the concessions and left us open to this crap.

The AFL will do what it needs to do, to ensure its bastard creations up north are succesful. Even if it means cannibalising young talent from Victorian teams, picked up in a draft system designed by them.

You are not alone. One can only hope that he was outvoted.

From that article: -

And despite a media statement from Velocity Sports, the firm that manages Scully, on Thursday afternoon insisting that Scully and GWS have not spoken, Triple M Footys newsbreaker Damian Barrett told The Rush Hour that not only had the two parties been in talks but the offer put to the Demons teenager would basically be impossible to refuse.

The money is going to be up around a million dollars a year for six years, Barrett told Triple Ms Rush Hour.

Theyre not going to muck around when they put the formal touches to it and give him the offer and (GWS football manager) Gubby Allan is just not going to die wondering on this.

We'll see Barrett.

He's been Twittering away about our tanking as well.....

@josephryan79 Fair point. But they definitely tanked

@mikeod0909 They went out of their way in '09 to not win more than four matches

Can’t feel too sorry for Demons if they lose Scully to GWS – they tanked in order to get him as a priority pick in the draft

He seems to think we deserve this  !!!

There's similar sentiment running through some of the other club forum websites. Not much sympathy for us at all re Scully. "This is their karma for tanking" etc ...

At least club officials at Richmond have come out in support of us.

F!?k Barrett.

Lets face it , if some other club was in our situation the majority of us wouldn't give a flying fig either .

I know I wouldn't .

Most clubs don't give a toss about us but they are not laughing too loudly as they are worried about their own exposure with GWS. I know a highly connected person with Essendon and without saying too much, he basically told me they are very worried indeed about the future of some of their rising young players.

I wonder how the El Presidente chess champ managed to fool all the club bosses into agreeing to the GWS recruiting terms. Did he ply them with champagne, party girls and other enhancers? Checkmate!

It makes you wonder if all the clubs were forced to agree with vlad, on these two over rated so called football clubs. There is no way in hell you would think that this is fair. I love our club but this just rips your heart out, that one we could lose one of our young stars and two if this is what it's going to be like from now on; i have already had a gut full of the way our once great game is going.

I don't give a toss what other supporters are saying about how we tanked to get Tom. They can go and get you know what. Like all of us who have sat through the hard times watching our club not win a flag, we have had our bad times. And now with Jim and ever body else at the club we started to see hope, but with what has been going on with Tom it makes you wonder just how much more rubbish we can take. The AFL hates us and would be more than happy to see us fold. The AFL will give these teams anything to make them power clubs and just let clubs like ours suffer. To all who agreed to these two clubs thanks for nothing.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
