How did this start out as a discussion about a 15 year old boy, and ended up here?

Only on Demonland.

Hmm... if I recall correctly, Billy has won the B&F in every year of junior football of his life. Now, under 12s B&F isn't a major award, but ALL of them from zygotic mitosis level to under 15s would suggest at least some potential! :D

Looking at the images from the articles, I have a sneaking suspicion that he wants to be the very best, like no-one ever was.

I think the club is keeping very close tabs on Billy. He had his internship with us earlier in the year as well. Very good signs. I'll be interested to see how the B&F goes for him this year.

Nathan Buckley was a skinny little rake at 15 years as well, but his old man was a monster.

I don't think any one can tell.

Scully is a skinny little runt at 21 (yes I did say runt). But his dad is monster of the other variety. (I'll leave it up to you)

And yes we can all tell.

Now that Jack Viney is done and dusted, we can look forward to two years of argy bargy about young Billy.

My information is that Billy is coming along nicely, growing taller and like Jack, can't wait to play for his father's old club.

Only about 2,600 posts and 185,000 views to go!

The statistician in me wants to start a chart of the amount of 'noise' first about Jack Viney and then about Billy Stretch.

Simple line graph of 'post per month'. Billy may actually be ahead in terms of the number of posts this far ahead of drafting, because his name was originally mentioned and got a few comments way back when conversation was also beginning about Viney.

If all goes to plan (HA HA HA HA HA, at Melbourne?) then Stretch Jnr could be arriving just in time to play his whole career in finals!

I think I only said that in bitter irony at how once upon a time we all thought (imagined?) Viney would be the bonus gun midfielder to add to our stocks when we were already competitive.

Being a Canberrian if that's what you call yourself. Someone who does charts would suit you.

So line graphs would be of interest only between December and February. Parliament is in recess, all the drafts are done and dusted and the pre-season comp hasn't started.

A good filler.

Can you also keep a tally of how many times Demonlanders make reference to the kid's father shirking a contest in the 88 GF.

Na- you will combine them all when it is required.

Hopefully we won't have to worry picking him up at 3 being overs, and he is a steal at 20 something. Our first pick in the draft that year.

I could have sworn the whole side shirked a contest that day

Right lets get the ball rolling.. :)

Oh good, have we a clean bill of health re draft picks looking forward then. It sounds like you've got the wink & nudge.

Didn't get an AIS invite.

Will be playing U18 for Glenelg.

Interesting to see if he makes the SA side as a bottom age player.

Is getting an invite an indicator though? I thought a lot of blokes turn them down to stay TAC/SANFL/WAFL

THE ACCIDENTAL DEMONS by The Oracle

In the space of eight days, the Melbourne Football Club’s plans for the coming year were turned upside down by two season-ending injuries to players who were contending strongly for places in its opening round match against the GWS Giants. Shane McAdam was first player to go down with injury when he ruptured an Achilles tendon at Friday afternoon training, a week before the cut-off date for the AFL’s pre-season supplemental selection period (“SSP”). McAdam was beginning to get some real mom

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the

We'll break down the Match SIM against North Melbourne and wrap up the preseason with insights into training and our latest recruits. I apologize for skipping our annual season review show at the end of last season. After a disapponting season filled with off-field antics and a heated trade week, I needed a break. Thankfully, the offseason has recharged me, and I’m back—ready t
