Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I'm back from the wilderness. Congrats to gorgoroth for the tipping comp whooping he gave me and the rest of this fine group. Shame I missed the post season comp but I'm usually very horrible at it anyway. Great to see Atlanta in the SB. They are up against the evil empire so who doesn't want Atlanta to win? I know playoffs don't count but after watching Atlanta I forgot that Matt Ryan had a stunning year and he could be the MVP. Rodgers did all he could but the Pats have  belichick, Cowboys have a running game and defense, Atlanta have a running game and Julio Jones. My point is what does Rodgers have? He has himself. Give the man some defense or a running game and they are NFC Champs every year jus like the Pats in the AFC.

You'd think Lacy will help the Packers in the run game once fit next year.

Still can't believe we've made the Super Bowl... Did not think in year 2 of Quinn we'd be there already but we've taken advantage of an even NFC year.

Funny I've watched a few NFL shows the past couple of days & how the same people who called our defense out all year are saying how much it's improved which it has over the home stretch/playoffs but like I wrote in here out defense was never as bad as the rankings suggested, when we got 2+ scores up late in games they'd go into preservation mode & give up junk yards & scores. It'll be interesting to see how the young group (4 rookies & 2 2nd years) hold up against Brady on the big stage

It's hard to have it all in this league ... Belichick has got it figured though.  Most of his players are expendable and they are often treated as straight-out commodities.  It quite literally is all about the team - no prima donna's, no diva's, no big-heads.  Gronk gets away with a little bit but his game-day face is ultra serious.  However, Gronk being out means business as usual for New England.

But here's the catch ... a team has to be great like the Pats with a QB like Brady in order for Belichick to then 'manage' the way he does - it's not like their system can just be copied.  On top of all that, he's the master coach with a game plan that can be either new or change every week.  An opposition team's coaching staff doesn't know what it's going to get.

They are going to be hard to beat and Atlanta cannot afford any slip-ups.  The Atlanta D-Line is going to have to find a way to get at Brady ... easier said than done of course.

Pats do lost of short passes, do the falcons play more man to man or zone?

We started out more of a zone defense but Quinn has adjusted a bit as the season has gone on and played more man to man

I think like the GB game it's whether our defense can make stops which against Brady isn't easy but I thought we'd struggle to hold Rodgers & we kept him to 0 points until the 3rd... We know what our offense will bring, it's just whether the inexperienced defense can get the job done.

The key is scoring a TD or 2 early and then putting the Pats on the back foot.  They are always going to come back at you though so a lot will rest with Ryan.  They'll probably double-team Jones so you'll need your running game up and about.  Both Freeman & Coleman are decent and if both get amongst it, that might throw the Patriots off a bit.

Atlanta's all-round offense is tough for any defence.  The match-up (the Falcons offense vs Patriots defence) will be New England's toughest all year (by a stretch)  The reverse could be said of course as well.

So then it boils down to what tricks Belichick has up his sleeve with his own offense ... and whether the Falcons defence can cope with it.

Yeah pats hardly ever trail. Get a lead and see what they can do.

I think the falcons need to get three forts downs on penning drive to get some confidence and momentum.

Well we've scored TD's on our opening drive the last 8 games, heres hoping we make it 9 & put the Pats behind the 8 ball

The Giants figured out the Pats in superbowls. NY held onto to the ball for ever behind a solid run game and a clutch Eli. In one of their 2 wins NY had a TD drive that nearly took up the whole first quarter. Atlanta are a different offense though. I read that on a first down throw they average nearly 8 yards completed. They are a big time offense but have we seen belichick contain offenses for many years. How is Atlanta's run game JV?

Run game is good.. The 2 pronged attack of Coleman & Freeman is up there with the best once they get going. We were ranked 5th in the run game which some people forget & just think we are pass happy team... I read somewhere in 3 of our losses we rushed for under 50 yards. If we can establish the run we'll go along way to winning I think... Shannahan will surely have a well thought out game plan drawn up. I just hope the young defense can get some pressure on Brady & make some stops which is easier said then done! I've been optimistic troughout the playoffs... For some reason I'm quietly confident heading into the SB.

Patriots haven't faced a top 10 ranked offense all year.. The highest ranked offense they faced was Seattle & they beat them comfortably

From a Falcons point of you the best way to get Ryan off his game is to bring pressure & get him off his spot.. The problem I think the Pats could have is if they bring a 3 or 4 man blitz how do you then double Julio (as many predict Bellicheck will) & keep Sanu & Gabriel in check aswell as Coleman & Freeman who are very good recievers out of the backfield... Maybe that's where my quiet confidence is coming from. I honestly don't think they can slow our offense & as good as Brady is, he doesn't have the range of weapons Ryan does.. Having said that Brady is the GOAT so I would never be overly confident going up against him especially in a SB as well the mastermind Bellicheck, coming up with ways to stop the offense.

Ps: I hope your all on board the Falcons :)

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
