It is listed in their tv directory as : AFL Tournament

I don't think the broadcaster would be allowed to stream it off their official site if it were against any official regulations.

I think you will find the content is monitored/censored fairly closely.

Social networking is banned as it is harder to censor and control.

Anyway hopefully that stream will have the match come Sunday 5pm.

It's a web browser. Different to Mozilla Firefox and Internet Explorer etc.

I,m not going to drag politics into this. The biggest aspect of our game that the Chinese would find baffling is all the pushing, shoving, trash talk, posturing and general lack of politeness by players on the field. Even more baffling to them will be when players shake hands after the game and all is well as if nothing has happened. A key aspect of Chinese behaviour is maintaining "face" in dealing with anyone. To lose your temper or show visible anger shows that you have lost "face". To humiliate someone is making them lose "face" and that is a big no no also. A person that loses face too often by bad behaviour or makes others lose face is not well respected. Also in China you won't find the typical football yobbo that you find in Europe or over here that doesn't mind participating in or like watching bad behaviour by sportsmen.

Isn't the NBA quite popular in China? There is a fair bit of pushing, shoving, trash talk, posturing and general lack of politeness . With more than one billion people, we only need one in every thousand to take a remote interest in the game over the next decade for it to be a massive success

Good call, I agree, NBA is huge in China and they are the gurus of push/shove/trash talkin'... Not to mention the Chinese themselves.. Have you ever tried to board a bus with a bus full of Chinese tourists?? Now thats some pushin and shovin. I think they'll love AFL if they take this chance to see our Mighty Dee Boys lightning transitions tear the lions a new one... Man can just see all of China raising as ONE as Jurrah climbs on Brisbane heads in our goal square... That'll sell our game to anyone!! 300 million new members by Monday morning

Billions have been spent developing soccer over there for the past 40 years and is played by millions but they still have second rate teams both international and domestic and haven't even developed any players of note. What chance does our game have?

If the AFL were fair dinkum about developing the game in China they should start at the grass roots and seriously consider investing to build multi purpose Aussie Rules sized playing fields in major cities over there. Not cheap but they could form partnerships with communities and the like and given the strength of the dollar they could easily build a half a dozen for the price of one over here. This would be a far more positive initiative than having these silly exhibition games which will generate little interest and be quickly forgotten. I doubt that there would be more than a few thousand Chinese actually tuning in.

PS, I've travelled on numerous crowded trains, buses and metro's over there and pushing and shoving is no big deal. You have to do it or else you will never get on or off. Everyone does it with good grace. If you tried it over here you will get a punch in the nose.

I'm not disagreeing with you when you say it would be hard to promote as a major sport over there but, having said that they already have leagues over there so this is just about further development over there. The 300 million members or viewers are merely jokes.

You see kids play cricket in India in whatever little piece of overpopulated space they can find and same with soccer, so if AFL appealed to the kids of China I'm sure there'd be room for a little kick to kick, or a game with backpacks used as goalposts in a park. Why spend multi millions in new stadiums for a game nobody knows about??? Exhibition matches are the right first step, not AFL stadiums. In decades to come if enough people were drawn to it, fields would be built. After all any sport takes time to promote and develop to a new country. This is just a small step and glad its the MFC that is a part of it.

As for everyone pushing with grace??? Im not talking about over crowded public transport, i'm talking about tour buses were all are guarented a seat. Through my experiences, they wore outright RUDE! With no manners what so ever. One trip we were told when we got off the bus there would be a table with souvenir plates with our own photos printed on them. I was at the front of the bus with my wife and sister in-law so went to the table first, only to experience pushing to get to the front almost like when they give out food packs after a disaster. I mean come on like someone else was going to purchase the plate with their family photo on it. Also just getting on to tourist buses where everyone has a seat, the majority of these Chinese tourists push to get best seats with little or no manners.

Thanks DeezMan, I was just reading your posts on the bond you share with your dad going to the footy with your dad and are soooo jealous.. My dad used to go to the footy with my Grand dad who was good mates with norm smith and gets a mention in his biography The Red Fox. So they went every week and enjoyed the late 50's and early 60's together often mingly with some big names. But since my grand dad passed my dad just wont go to the footy with me, not sure what it is and I don't hold it against him but definitely envy you and your dad... Good on ya's!!

P.S hopefully this is the end of our travelling woes, and next year we can notch up a few interstate wins!

Have to disagree, rugby is a good example. Is growing in China but very slowly despite the game being an international game and compatible with soccer pitches. Can be played everywhere over there. Just not appealing due to the brutality.

As for stadiums. Suitable grounds have been the achilies heal for developing the game overseas. Exhibition games have been played in many countries for decades without much success in raising the profile of the game. Still even struggles in Qld and NSW. And in NZ is treated as joke. The games sucks bad when played in a small area. The hybrid game hasn't helped our cause either in Ireland. They all think Aussie rules players are thugs and rightly so after the antics of some of our boys.

As for the AFL investing in stadiums, I said they should consider helping develop multi purpose stadiums which can be used for all sports but also suitable for AFL. With the right kind of promotion and support grass roots competitions can start up in the right conditions.

Did anyone catch Matt Bate on 3AW last night? Been pouring since they arrived but hoping for 25c and sunny for the game. Expecting a crowd at the ground of around 10,000.

Bate talking about how they all came back as a group last week to train, using the balls earlier than ever.

Hopefully means some great ball use in 2011 from that early practice.
