Hope he goes well...

and that we can poach him from their lost in a few years.

We've had some luck with brothers in the past, albeit twins, but I think Dylan will be worth chasing one day.

Disappointed we couldn't get him.

I watched him play and while not totally disappointed thought we could have picked him with the pick we passed on at #66 in the draft, but I think had we used this we would not have been able to have had a pick at the 2010 pre-season draft where we got Joel MacDonald? Someone will correct me but I am fairly certain this was the case.

Dylan IMO had some similar traits to Jack even though he is a bit taller than Jack. Similar traits for me are the way Dylan reads the play. Not for a second do I suggest that Dylan is anywhere near the level of Jack, what I have seen he is nowhere near him, but it will be interesting to see how he goes.

Like Jack he gets a Round 22 debut and as a keen supporter of Jack, I'll be watching Dylan closely. Best of luck to him.

Can you please elaborate...

I was going to elaborate but a couple of posters have already done that, suffice to say I agree with both, he will be a 'good' AFL player if he continues to develop and we have more than enough of them

Correct. We could've also taken Grimes with PSD #1, but chose Joel Macdonald instead.

Redleg says that he's disappointed that we couldn't get him. I'm not disappointed at all because it's not that we couldn't get him, but that we chose not to. I'm yet to see any evidence as to why we should be kicking ourselves other than the fact that his surname is Grimes.

Isn't his surname enough?

Look at... Sam Power, Shane Harvey, Luke Ottens... Oh, this list could get pretty long.

Jason Cl- no, I mean Cameron Cl-, no, not him either, Travis Cl- oh bugger it. David was the only- oh, no he was just an ordinary thug too.

In other news the only player on the richmond list to not play a game this year is our one and only saviour, Mr Jordy McMahon, wonder if it had anything to do with a certain goal?

Shane Harvey.. selected by North Melbourne for a spot on the list ahead of guess who? Aaron Davey

That's what happens when you 'go with the heart'

Heh, well done. My favourite was Cameron Croad - quit Carlton so he could go smoke weed with his mates in the bush. Nice.

Don't think my personal "disappointment" equates to " us kicking ourselves ". Nevertheless in a couple of years I will see if I am still disappointed and if we should be kicking ourselves.

I put him in my supercoach at the start of the year, When I told couple of my Richmnd mates they laughed saying 'He would be lucky to get a game'. Two of these guys in particular said they watched him closely and rated him as a very ordinary footballer.

And they should know ordinary footballers when they see one!

Hahahaha YEP absolute experts when it comes to spotting ordinary talent.

The other McDonald... I think he played a few games. What was his name? James or something?

You mean junior's brother Anthony who played 104 games for us.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
