Possibly a bit odd to ask this with one game to go but I'm trying to similtaneously inject some positivity by remembering our good performances this year and ask everyone which game was our worst this year. Games like the Round 3 clash with Adelaide and the Geelong and St Kilda games I've left off because I reckon in those we matched expectations and thus they wouldn't feature in discussions for the best/worst games of the year.

Given the biggest margin remains the 56 points vs Hawthorn in Round 1, there haven't been the scoreboard smashings of the last 3 years. But there have still been some shockers.

The Sydney win was IMO the best performance of the last 5 years. The West Coast game was the worst of the year, closely shading Round 1 I reckon.

Worst performance is an easy choice, I think...

Rnd 21 vs Port was by no means our worst!! Lost by 29 when we've had an average losing margin of over 50 points at AAMI Stadium in recent years.

I missed round one unfortunately (fortunately?) but the West Coast loss was definitely the most disappointing for me. What an embarrassment - those guys are woeful. In Melbourne too :(

Best win was definitely the Sydney one, that game was almost faultless. It could've been 100 points if it wasn't for Adam Goodes.

Sydney's the best...for some time!

The West Coast game was an absolute howler. We kicked 6 goals total, 1 after half time, yet were in the match until midway through the final quarter. Disgusting game of football.

Sydney game was definetely the best... but I have a lot of love for the 50 point win over Brisbane earlier in the year. Remember they were 4-0 with Brown/Fev on fire and most still saw Melbourne as spoon contenders. It was unreal atmosphere walking out of the ground, MFC fans going crazy everywhere!!!

I voted collingwood round 2, should of could of didn't win it! Especially after the performance we put in against the hawks round 1! I voted Adelaide loss as the worse could easily have voted west coast or north but I thought we had form going Into the game they had none!

I voted round 2 as our "best" performance. We didn't win, but the guts they showed to really fight hard against a top side after such a shocking round 1 display was, I thought, admirable. It set the tone for the season, and gave us real self belief.

The West Coast loss was our worst. We went out expecting to win.

Today was the worst of the year!

To be frank! I thought todays performance was absolutely shockingly pathetic. I felt sick! It was that bad I thought it undid our good season so far. Anyone who rated our season around a B. I would be changing it to a D.

Expect an onslaught next week against the Kangas!

Jurrah and Rivers our only shining lights I thought.

How de we put in a performance like that in Juniors 250th.

It was a perfect opportunity to break our hoodoo! 29 points. Ha! Should have been 60! Port are [censored] and we are shitter!

Wake up fellas! You should be ashamed!

Best effort for me was Brisbane. A monster of a win against the undefeated top side. Can't beat that.

For worst, hard to go past West Coast. The worst team in the competition and we let them beat us on the MCG. Rubbish effort.

One game of zero consequence undoes a whole season of good work? You've got to be kidding me.

The game against West COast was absolutely abysmal. No words can describe the awful performance we put in.

In saying that today's game wasn't far behind.

Maybe we are tanking to gain 4 spots in the draft... Ha Ha! Who knows! We lose next week and Crows win. Thats pretty much what has happened.

I will stew on this game till our season is over.

Lost opportunity and a big step going forward. Instead 10 steps backwards.

A game we should have won and did'nt. Not even close!!!

That game made me feel sick. It was an embarrassment that I'm still not over. That game is up there with all those 12 goal losses in '08 for mine. Loosing to the wooden-spooners is one horrible feeling.

Obviously Sydney was our best performance. A full four quarter effort.

Round 1 without doubt. This was our final. Even though it was the first game, with all the hype of the new kids, this was to be the measuring stick for the year. Now we did recover but from all the pre-season excitement, the evening of the 27th March as one of the worst gut reaching nights I've ever had!

I didn't see the Rnd 1 game thankfully, but i still reckon the WC game was easily the worst of the year. Everything about it was disappointing, it was pretty much Melbourne of 2008 (we at least beat them in 09!). One of the worst games of footy i've ever seen as well.

Our best (to finish on a high) was Sydney, tough one to pick as i was leaning towards the Pies in rnd 2. The Collingwood game was great because it showed that we had come to play in 2010, and it set the benchmark for the whole year. Petterd was on fire, it was just so devastating to see that ball slip through his fingers. I hope it was the (re-)start of a great rivalry between our old foes, 1 point between us for the whole year!

But as i said, i felt Sydney was the best and most complete performance of the year. To be so in front at quarter time, to deliver Paul Roos his biggest defeat as coach plus a myriad of other records, and to do it in front of an adoring, success-starved crowd, it made it the high-point of the year for me. I also reckon it sent a warning out the other teams for this year and next year, underestimate us at your own peril.

Surprised there isn't more love for the Brissy game early in the year.

Worst game clearly the West Coast game. Terrible.

Thge first game was the worst IMO- because it set up negative thoughts straight away, based on our poor NAB cup results.

The team were/are still probably reeling from that crucial loss to Freo.

After the pre-season build up rd 1 against Hawthorn was confidence crushing for me .

We we're farcical at times .

The Swans game was best for 4qrs of pure fuzzy warmness but for an adrenalin rush it was the Pies rd 2.

And that was almost no different to how I felt during 2007-2009.

Mental state at the time was a case of "New Melbourne, same as the old Melbourne." At least we could claim having 3 debutants as a semblance of an excuse.

That shambles of a loss in round 8 was much worse, IMO. We'd sort of turned the corner, at 3-4 and having put up a spirited effort against the Dogs, to serve up that game was infuriating. I had to turn the coverage off in order not to smash the TV.

While Bailey labelled the Demons' performance their worst for the season, the result had Worsfold rethinking a 2010 finals appearance.

"I would love to play in the finals and hope we can win enough games to play in the finals," he said.

This is why I thought that game was the worst all year. To give hope to that joke of a side was just rubbish.

Sydney & Brisbane games at the G were the best. The eagles game was the worst in my opinion. sitting at the game was very frustrating. stagnant movement, uncertainty with the ball and turnovers ! watts was given a lesson.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
