Far too harsh on McDonald.

Bartram, Dunn, Morton and Trengove spot on though.

Newton - that settles it

Morton - not afl standard

Bennell - will be dropped

Warnock - not afl standard

Morton is AFL standard, has had a very interrupted year, only 2nd year. Will be much better next year.

Pretty harsh, but probably fair assessments.

- Newton was brought it to make 100% sure he's not up to it. Will certainly be delisted now, what a spud.

- Bennel is very clean and has great pace, he'll be a player but does need to be dropped just down on form.

- Warnock first week back so probably gets a bit of latitude, but really terrible game, doesn't look a part of the future and i prefer JoelMac

- Morton has soo soo soo much talent. Some of his marking today was outstanding, its just his kicks kept on missing the targets. If he hit his targets by foot he'd be one of the best youngsters in the comp. Still has huge potential

Im getting a bit tired of hearing.. this player of that has talent to burn...but cant bloody kick for sh!t. Its football.. it has GOT to be a prerequisite that you can kick to a decent AFL standard. even Scully needs to hone this craft..its not good.

Surprised Watts getting negativity. Some of his non-stat type efforts were commendable. Keep it up.

Cale....footsteps ??

Bruce.. 1/3 briliant 1/3 solid 1/3 sus disposals ( the other 2/3 were much better btw )

Jurrah.....no words required

Green... not best day

Rivers... a fair effort then he does some silly stuff too. Needs to get rid of that ( pls)

Bennell... did he catch the flight ?

Junior...what a trooper

Tregove...long year hey

Bail - couldnt get into it

Bartram - hmmm

Dunn - under-done

Frawley - hard day at offoce.. probably wrong office

Garland - rusty...very

Jamar - must have felt a tad lonely

Jones - so much effort for so little

Beamer - tried ...but as effective as Jones

Scully - has to work on efective disposals... a lot of good work comes undone.

Warnock - pantsed

Wonaeamirri - 50/50

McKenzie - doesnt give in this kid

Newton - spud dud & looking for a job

Yeah, he is AFL standard as a whole. But today he looked out of his depth and it is his third season. He has played some great games in the past, but today was a shocker.

He looks good when he takes a mark, but you hold your breath when he kicks it. That stuff up when he had the ball 30 metres out directly in front summed up his day. Not confident to nail the set shot, he passed it off, only to kick it higher than he did long, making it an easy chop out by the Port defender, leading to a 2 goal turn around and the start of Ports run on.

They were harsh assessments, but they are based on today only, because thats what this analysis is for. I am a huge fan of Bennell but he has been quiet the last few weeks, and today was very poor. Give Maric a crack at the G.

Gee we missed Davey & Sylvia.

It cracks me up how people make certain comments on Trenners, Sculls and Watts.

Avg. per game 2010

Scully 21.2

Trengove 19.2

McDonald - looked so tired

says alot about the other 21 blokes that played today. he was clearly our best today

Scully and Bruce were outstanding.

Simply too many passengers out there today. Don't get me started on Morton in front of goal...

Batram can't kick. He is a complete liability in the backline as a replacement for Grimes. Should be used as a tagger and nothing else.

Wonna week in week out can't win a contest to save his life. Needs to seriously address his body on body work in the off-season, bc chasing just isn't enough.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
