Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

You guys know how Alistair Clarkson dropped Brad Sewell? He called it a warning to other players. Sewell was a late inclusion and got 39 touches. I say DO THE SAME WITH BATE.

You know that's the same Alistair Clarkson who stuck with Roughead week after week when he was barely getting a touch earlier in the season.

It's easy to send lessons to the group when you are off to play a Brisbane in Tasmania without Simon Black. They could have sent a lesson to half the side and still got home.

I'd drop Bate if he's not working hard enough and not putting his head over it. At the moment all he is doing wrong is making a few bad decisions, generally when he gets the ball at high half forward, looks to move it on quickly and finds no one up field.

People are very quick to get on someone's back. So it's Bate this week... poor guy.

We need him up forward as a nice target. When he's on... he's in ripping touch and he's a strong-body booming kick!

Dunn dropped? Now I've heard it all.

I would drop Johnson. Yes, he did well..but I believe it was at the expense of Jamar playing well.

OUT: johnson, bail (simply because no-one else is drop-able)

IN: Trengove, Mcdonald

*I don't think Bennell should be dropped. He kicked 2 and in a low scoring game thats fine by me

Out Bate.

In Trengove.

How can anyone want to drop a young exciting Bennell that actually kicked a couple today and has a future even though he has barely played for this club. Then justify what bate (who kicked nothing today) has served up to us this season by wanting him to play next week considering how much more experience he has than Bennell.

Am I the only person seeing this?

OUT: Bennell, Johnson, MacDonald

Bennell was one of the few players that put-in in the first half, Johnson - even though I am not a fan - was one of the better ones today and JMac II was hard and tough at it all day.

I'd need to calm down a bit and watch the game again before I put up my ideas, but yours just don't make sense.

Morton looked as soft as ever and contributed little - but then when you are sent to Casey for a lesson and to harden up

Who said Morton was sent to Casey to "harden up", or even sent there for a lesson?

For me

IN: Maric, McDonald, Trengove

OUT: Bennell, Johnson, MacDonald

McDonald & Trengove are automatics for mine, and I believe Maric has done enough to earn a spot in the team, and those of you who saw him play with Casey on saturday would probably agree.

All 3 who I have omitted are unlucky but I saw them as the 3 best suited to miss out. Bennell kicked a few but just doesn't do enough IMO. Johnson had his best game for the season but I've seen him do this several times before and not follow it up. Also with Mike Pyke as Sydney's 2nd ruckman, I believe Jamar will be able to mainly ruck with Dunn providing some support. As for Joel MacDonald he's unlucky as he played a decent game but with Rivers, Frawley, Garland and Bruce already playing down there they will be able to cover Sydney's talls/medium sized forwards.

FB: Garland, Frawley, Bartram

HB: Bruce, Rivers, Bail

C: Morton, McKenzie, Davey

HF: Sylvia, Bate, Maric

FF: Watts, Jurrah, Green

FOLL: Jamar, Moloney, McDonald

INT: Dunn, Jones, Scully, Trengove

EMERG: Bennell, Johnson, MacDonald

Edit: Clarify Johnson omission.

With all due respect, if these are the three players you want to drop, you were definitely watching a different game to the rest of us..

I thought Bennell & Johnson were excellent. MacDonald also good, backed himself to win the ball and carry it many times over.

Bate was better in the second half but I agree his last 2 weeks have been poor. Unfortunately I don't think were in a position to leave him out with Petterd unavailable.

Jones lowered his colours and Jurrah is only running 1 way at the moment -------------> Goal.

1 change for mine

In - Trengove

Out - Moloney (if ijured) otherwise Jones

Out: Moloney (inj?), Bate, Jones (sick of watching him run into trouble. He needs to go back to basics at Casey).

In: Junior (if fit), Trengove (if fit), Grimes (if fit). Maric if one of the other 3 aren't fit.

In: McDonald, Trengove

Out: Bartram, Bate.

Let me guess, didn't watch the game, only saw the stats?

Bartram worked harder than anyone else on that field yesterday, and when he was on him, kept Ballantyne to sweet F'A. Ballantyne scored four goals, one from Bruce's stuff up, two from Davey's stuff ups, and one he actually earned.

Bartram plays the team game, week in and week out.

For me, outs: Beamer (Rest)

In: Trengove

Beamer for trengove looks quite likley this week. Pity though cos we could use some toughness against the swans.

I think both Bate and Jones shouldnt be dropped although they both can frustrate me to no end! Seems like they both give their all, but somthimes get carried away with the "take the game on" message from the coaches and run them selves into trouble. Dont think dropping them would actually help them at all - probably better off siting them down and letting them know that maybe for a week or two they should make the easy passesinstead of trying to blaze away brilliantly.

Also, if beamer misses due to the cork, then jones should stay in for his bigger frame around the clearances.

Bennell played well yesterday - keep him in the side for sure

Cale Morton looks like he needs to run a little harder or somthing? Might be a toss up between him and Dunn for the match up on Goodes though?

Can't see Bate being dropped, even though he deserves it. Bailey's been constantly talking about getting games into our forward line as a unit. He is a part of that forward line, so I'm thinking he stays.

In: Trengove, McDonald

Out: Moloney (inj.), Jones

The danger this week is that our second half will shadow our first, and too many will ignore how unbelievably bad we were in the first half at the expense of our improved second half.

Jones isn't a tagger's bootlace. And he's a liability with the ball. Jones to make way if McDonald's fit (which he should be).

Agree. Bennell was good. He's effectively playing small forward and with the ball predominantly in freo's half in the first quarter/half, i'm not sure what ppl are looking at. He's one for the future.

Johnson - one of his better days and deserves his spot next week but Miller kicked 5 once too.

Jmac was solid.

Dunn out. Trengove in.

OUT - Bennell??? MacDonald????? Johnson??????

Wowee as BT says - not sure where you were watching TD?

I'll say Trengove to return

OUT - Moloney

And agree that Jones needs a spell if Junior returns. Jones & McKenzie playing Juniors role - would you drop Jordie? Nah didnt think so - has to be Jones.

OUT: Moloney (inj), Bartram

IN: Maric, Cheney

(Trengove and Junior if they pull through are automatic, and if so then swap Maric and Cheney to emergencies)

Re: Bartram v Cheney - thought Barty was ok on Sunday but just feel like our defence is a bit impotent with Bruce, Rivers, and Bartram all just a bit too similar in their average to poor use of the ball, IMO Cheney is a bit tougher at it and let's face it Bailey wouldn't drop the other two even if they had 30 turnovers.

Re: Maric - if he doesn't come in this week then he must have said something about Baileys wife! Automatic choice for mine.

Would love to see Aussie come in too, but not sure who would make way for him yet, probably needs one more good game for Casey before he forces his way in.

I reckon Junior can come in without one of Jones or McKenzie making way. Would love to see one of Jones, Junior, or Trengove (maybe even Davey) being used behind the ball and giving us someone in defence who is hard at it but can also us the ball to advantage when setting up our attack.

PS - Why all the Bennell hate from people? He's been great for us this year, especially if, like me, you value what players do when they DON'T have the ball, he's one of the few that keeps moving without the ball the whole game.

On second thoughts, I'd drop Bailey and bring in Malthouse. He gets a team going on the smell of an oily rag. Collingwood on top of the ladder! What would he do with our side?

You have to be kidding... Collingwood one of the richest clubs in the AFL with biggest supporter base and best facilities operating on the smell of an oily rag :rolleyes: . Malthouse would want to win this year. He has had 11 years with the everything at his feet and has not a flag at Pieland.

Was you first thought any better?

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. By the time they worked out it was game on, their opponents from Box Hill had accumulated five goals and, if the game wasn’t over, it might as well have been. For a se

A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
