Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I was rapt with his discussion with Andy Maher following the Collingwood draw.

Best thing I've seen from a Melbourne player for as long as I can remember.

I still can't believe nobody has put that on YouTube. Come on people... please!

Great news for the club.

Few had faith in Jamar - perhaps none - I for one really doubted he could make it but I was slower than many to dismiss him. But those that saw him at Sandy in his early years knew what he was capable of and it was impossible to dismiss him completely.

The major point of interest is "what caused the change". I reckon it was three things - firstly developing confidence in his body, secondly developing the self confidence that he belonged at AFL level and finally just maturing as a person.

His next challenge is to see if he can become a genuine forward threat - if he can do that he'll become an exceptional player. But of course we need to recognize that he's really only performed well for about 20 games in 8 years so the future isn't assured.

The other issue of course is to learn from the lesson. Can anyone think of a player on our list with great talent but who lacks confidence that he belongs at the top level and is immature?

I can.

I'm amazed at the difference 12 games makes at some AFL football forums ... However, never the less is so great to read the positive comments above about our players.

Go Dees!!!

Yep how many thought he was NO good 18 months ago.... lets face it most players on a list can play its a matter of them reaching there potential.

Good move on Jamar and his managers side would be getting the most out of his fantastic first half of the season!

That one year contract was the Best thing for the Russian...It got him Pumped up.

I like the idea of sprinkling one year contracts through out our list.

Certain Players need the wake up when it is known they have potential.

Good on you Mark-You have earnt every single $$ of your contract this year-Be Proud.

Lets watch you dominate in september soon in the Red & Blue. B)

He was injured last year and in the games he played he was good. He just could not get on the track to do it.

Its not necessarily used as a wake up call and not in Jamars case.

One yr contracts are the domain of fringe playes or players who have questionable fitness records for AFL and should be used sparingly. There are more savvy ways to encourage player performance

I wonder if there are any performance or game requirements in his 2 yr contract given his past injuries.

Sorry mate, I don't know how to do it.

If you've got it as a movie file on your computer, all you do is log in (or sign up if you don't have an account) and then click 'upload' and find the file.

I am sure Jamar & Miller knew at the start of the year that this year they had to Fire Up injuries or not. Jamar has been a fringe player for years.

But through 12 games so far this year he has become the First player picked. because he now believes in his ability and has thus pushed it even further, if that mind set all started because he was given a one year deal-well good the strategy is working for both parties.

Certain players need that motivation, as do people in business.

The Fact he is now being rewarded is a credit to his hard work.

Before this year, when has the Big Russian dominated Games at Senior level??

B+F votes per game last year led by Jamar - if he played all year he won the Bluey. It's injuries that stopped him recently, not form.

Possibly but an arguement used too often. I have always liked the Russian, but i always thought he was a little shy as a footballer for what he is- A Massive unit.

This year he has imposed and intimidated his opposition within the Rules Plus taken on these roles with very little back up.

IMO the giving of a one year contract has contributed to this years form. He REALLY wants to make it in AFL. Not just play But make it.

He deserves every bit of cred he gets this year.

Before this year, when has the Big Russian dominated Games at Senior level??

Firstly, when has any MFC ruckman since the departure of White "dominated" at senior level in order to render Jamar (when fully fit) battling for a spot?

Secondly, last year Jamar was quite solid when he got into the side after coming off the LTI. His first game back clearly set a tone, against St. Kilda's Gardiner and King (no slouches) he amassed 29 hitouts along with 11 possesions and 6 tackles. In another 3 games (of his total of 7) he had 31, 29, 29 hitouts clearly showing his centre bounce dominance.

Thirdly, Jamar was a genuine 2nd ruck to White playing 22 games in '06 before injury problems started hampering his progress.

I'm not saying that Jamar has been a top shelf ruckman all these years but to put him in the "fringe player" category IMO misrepresents the circumstances. At his best, he has clearly been our number 1 ruckman or in the case of his early yrs solid 2nd ruck. In my mind this is not the definition of a "fringe player". I realise this can come down to semantics (as many discussions often do) so don't take my disagreeance to heart mate.

Thanks 'eth38', I've watched 'youtube' but never looked further.

I'll go and have a look at that now it looks so simple, thanks mate.

PS: How would I, after editing out adds & the like, then burning to DVD, upload onto my PC. I'd then need to crop that interview? to upload, Not the whole game???

Herald Sun have today done Jamar's first extensive interview of his career.

Long Way to the Top of Mark Jamar

From everything I have seen of Jamar this year he seems a terrific bloke, really laid back and has his head in the right place. Really important to our future

    TRAINING: Friday 19th April 2024

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
