Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Simon Buckley in the Collingwood Squad

Ex-Demon Simon Buckley has been named in the Collingwood squad, I think he may be an emergency. Good luck to him. I wanted him to be kept on at Melbourne, but with the contracted players we had to keep I'm not sure who we could have let go instead.

Hope he does well, just not on Queens Birthday.

Simone Buckley wouldn't sit anywhere near our best 22 these days.

Under our new game plan we can't have players who repeatedly turn the ball over to the opposition across half back. Buckley was built like the modern midfielder, but unfortunately his decision making is not up to it

The question is are we better off with him or without him?

For too long this club has been too sentimental....I want to win Premiership Cups now...Lots of them.

Buckley is now employed by the Filth as a fringe player...enough said. B)

Very true, but it wasn't very long ago that that we were saying similar things about Clint Bartram. Anyway, good luck to Bucks at his new home.

(He didn't make the cut by the way, and will be an emergency on Sunday).

The main difference is that Bartram, while not using the footy very well at times, seemed better suited to a defensive role, whether it was tagging or in the backline.

On the other hand, Buckley seemed like an offensive type who, while quick, was Ward-like in his use of the footy - harder to carry poor disposal if that's a big part of your game.

Oh, and he once ate some chips. Maybe a hot dog too, I'm not sure. Either way, he had to go.

Agree Rogue, but I guess my point was that Barts seems to have worked on his disposal and it looks to have improved. Maybe Bucks could do the same(?). Don't get me wrong though, I'm pleased that Bucks is now a 'pie, and his departure created space on our list to draft (Fitz?).

I think it's more the point that the team is working harder and giving Bartram a better first option than previously, rather than 'working' on his disposal.

Good Point. A lot of our players have now shown by playing Pro active, they now have that extra step to balance up and "use" the Ball Better.

Confidence means so much.

Good luck to him. Shame that the contracts and injuries fell the way they did as I'd rather have him on our list that some unnamed others.

talking to a collingwood supporter who goes and watches VFL side, he is dumfounded on why they picked up bucks.. says to be struggling at VFL level.. cant hit targets, seems disintrested and lazy. reckosn they should have taken a punt on a young kid. got the impression yhim and alot of collingwood supporters are disappointed in buckley at pie land :)

I watched Bucks on the ABC when they played their first VFL game v Williamstown and I thought he was quite good. Even his disposal was ok although I suppose the pressure of the game was nowhere near AFL standard. He was certainly not disinterested or lazy that day and the fact that he's pushed his way to the position of emergency in a top 4 side suggests the Collingwood selectors don't think so either.

Perhaps your statement reflects more on Collingwood supporters than it does on Buckley?

I saw that match and also thought he was quite good in the second half. He broke the lines running through midfield and hit targets in the forward 50. Sorry we couldn't retain him for at least one more year due to our salary contracts with other listed players.

I wonder what type of player we will recuit at the end of the year? Jordie McKenzie is looking certain to be promoted from the rookie list, and Spencer is a good chance too.

Probably a tall forward, and guys with real pace.

We offloaded him because he had OP. A very smart move by the Dee's.

Will play a handful of games, and then be quickly forgotten by the Pies.

Amazing how good very ordinary players can look when they're surrounded by class.

Some Filth supporter is rating him up there with James Clements already....!!!

Will be interesting to watch. I am very sure the MFC off loaded Buckley for good reason. That said if he makes an AFL career-Good luck to him.

Bring on Q B.

Amazing how ordinary and good players can look so much better when they have the right facilities, training and coaches behind them.

It would be interesting to see how some of the Collingwood players would be in other sides.

    TRAINING: Friday 19th April 2024

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
