Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Cale Morton One Week Away !

Perusing the AFL website and came across the following:

MELBOURNE

Rohan Bail (quad) - test

Max Gawn (knee) - indefinite

Liam Jurrah (shoulder) - 8-10 weeks

John Meesen (ankle) - 4-6 weeks

Cale Morton (knee) - 1 week

Luke Tapscott (hip) - indefinite

Is this right is he due back already? Thought he was another 4 weeks away

Means Cale should be playing in the seniors by Queen's birthday one would think

Also good to see Wona, PJ, Bell and Blease get through games on weekend.

All of the sudden our injuries are coming good.

Interesting to see Meeson only 4 to 6 weeks away. Gawn is expexted to join main group in 6 weeks,LJ in 8 to 10 weeks, thus leaving only Tapscott as the real unknown.

I don't think anyone has forgotten how good Cale is!!!

I for one still think he is the best of all our young stars. However, few know of him outside the MFC.

Morton is the sort of player who may just go beserk in a better team! Can't wait to see him back to his best by QB. 3 to 4 weeks from senior selection one would think.

I saw Sam Blease at the game on Saturday and he appeared to have a bit of a limp, I may be wrong but he just looked a bit proppy.

Probably just sore after the game.

I had an injury similar to Blease when I was young and had pain after a match or training for about 6 months after it healed. I was worried it was going to be permanent but over time it faded until I no longer get any pain.

Obviously it might not be the same, but being sore after a match isn't exactly a warning bell.

Just on Cale, I'm a bit worried that him coming back may upset the team balance.

I know he's not purely an outside receiver as opposition supporters see him, but I also know with his light frame he does fill that role quite often.

I think for the sake of chemistry we might see Bruce out for Cale.

Otherwise, I'm not sure I can see us maintaining our new-found hard edge.

Morton might be senior bound but i really doubt it as match fitness is important if we are to keep with current form , attack on the footy and tenacoius tackling

I tip 2 weeks at Casey first

Tapscott indefinite is a worry though

Itching to see this guy play as i have that feeling he just might be the best of the lot

Wow.

And when Jurrah is available will you be concerned about the forwardline balance?

We've had 3 great wins. We still need quality players in our best 22. Cale is quality.

NNo chance of this.

Cale will be playing forward this year. Bruce = experience and is thus very important to the current balance of the team.

hahaha

I didn't question Morton's spot in the team...

he is automatic 22 any day of the week.

What I'm getting at is...

Cale goes in >>> Who goes out?

Looking at the rest, it'd be a tough decision.

I think Bruce is one of the contenders and it's because he's not one of the hard-at-it players like Beamer, Jones or McKenzie.

Cale goes in >>> Who goes out?

Dunn; and not just because I'm anti-Dunn. Similar 'type' - bigish (though Dunn is in a man's body, Cale is still rake thin), mobile, big tank, scoring threat. Cale's the superior player. No brainer for mine.

Morton can play a number of roles and do them all well, the term 'team balance' doesn't apply to him as his presence actually helps fill wherever it may that be there is an imbalance, even when this imbalance only becomes apparent during the course of the match. He's a good weapon to have, and I agree that we will see him floating forward a lot more when he comes back

I'd agree Dunn for the most part, but if you need a tagging role like on Brennan I'd prefer Dunn to be doing that and Morton using the footy.

I think Bruce would be in the running to lose his spot.

Cant wait to see Cale return.

I think some people have forgotten just how good he is.

Im hoping he has put on some muscle while he has been out.

This always bobs up somewhere with guys with leg injuries. Having a lower body injury does not result in a player being put on some kind of Beefcake 3000 weight gain program where they just do bench presses and bicep curls all day. All the players are on a full load weights program to start with. If anything, a lower body injury would see them cutting into their weights program with rehab.

Cale is a wiry guy, much like his brothers, he is never going to come out all of a sudden and make us all go "Woah!! When did Stephen Tingay come out of retirement and switch to the #10 guernsey?!"

What a great position too be in, at this stage anyone of last weeks 22 would be unlucky too loose there spot but this is the situation the top clubs (Saints, Dogs and Cats) face every week! if all of the players coming back from injury are fully recovered and raring too go they may have too force someone out through tearing the VFL apart and or one of the current 22 under performs. Bring it on we have been waiting a long time for this situation NO more getting an "easy" game for players who havnt really earnt there spot

Looking forward to the return of Morton. With us starting to move the ball the way we are I would think he's going to be one of the main beneficiaries. When we surge from defence he is often the one that surges faster over distance than anyone else, enabling us to get an extra man to overlap when we handball. The only player that rivals him is Scully in this respect.

Alternatively, with an open forward line, if he plays forward he will almost always be the first player to push into the empty forward line. He's perfect for the type of game we're trying to play because of his running and ball use.

Cale's brothers though make him look like the Governor of California. Until he puts on a little bit more weight, he won't really convince anyone that he's a Brendan Goddard rather than just a Cam Bruce upgrade.

Can't wait to see him try though! I'm convinced he'll be somebody who thrives in a good team.

Reading the Casey wrap from the MFC website, it seems there are a few player knocking on the seniors door.

Neville Jetta & Addam Maric were both recored as seems to be laying down some pressure, which pretty much what MFC are doing at the moment, Rivers is... well Rivers, he will be back soon if not this week, Austin Wonaeamirri would be a few weeks away (getting back into shape), Maric could fit into his spot if he keeps up the pressure.

Jack will be in when the coaching staff deem him ready for AFL level, as with the rest of the boys, Im so pumped for the future of he club.

Meesen went from indefinite to 4-6 weeks, what happened there.

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
