Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Sorry all I know this has been done a number of times, but can someone give me the facts...

What year will he be up for draft? Is he a lock to come to Melbourne? Is he really a no.1 favourite?

If he is one of the best and we nab him for free in the middle of the compromised drafts, where good sides are getting their first picks in the early twenties, that will be one hell of a nice little bonus

Scully, Trengove, Jones, Moloney, Gysberts, McKenzie, Morton, Grimes, Blease, Sylvia and maybe this kid. That is is some seriously good stuff in the midfield mix. Surely nobody else comes close to that cattle gong forward.

As I understand if he is good enough for another club to want to use a first round pick on him, being he's the son part in the father son equation, all we have to do is offer up our first round pick for him and he is ours.

If he is any good, WS will offer one of their first rounders for him which will force our hand. But I suppose the plus side of that is it doesnt matter if our first pick after 15- he comes to us.

This is all of course assuming he is worthy of a first round pick, I haven't seen him play. Plus, i'm not actualy sure if what I have said is correct, so we will need clarification from someone who actualy knows facts. Cue- someone else..

I cant really answer your questions but i'll try what i know.

He can go "father and Son" too melbourne (off course) but is certainly NO lock.

I believe he will be in the first GWS draft (not next draft but the one after)

I think "Number 1" is a bit far out but from what i have read he is up there in the mix as a potentiol top 10 pick?

The last thing i have read about him is he is playing in a SA league and tearing it up, i think it maybe the same league that Todd played for as a junior?

Be great too here from someone else in the know?

On Bigfooty they say he'll be in the 2012 draft. Can't find much more info than that. I also don't know if the father-son rule will trump the draft concessions of GWS. What happens if they name him as a 17yo that they want? Will we still be able to nominate him?

As for whether he's a lock to come to Melbourne, assuming we offer to FS him and GWS can't pinch him from under us, I believe it's up to him whether he accepts our offer or goes to the draft.

http://messenger-news.whereilive.com.au/sport/story/roosters-sign-son-of-a-gun/

so he is 15 year old. so 3 years away which will be after the comprimised drafts and hopefully in our premiership window.. getting a gun with a mid teen pick is always handy

17 year-olds can be drafted. I don't know what the cutoff date is for them though. If he comes in after the concessions that may actually be a bad thing. If we FS him then it pretty much negates the impact of the concessions GWS have. If it's the year after then we'll be using a much higher pick.

Don't worry mate, he will become a demon.

I go to the football most weeks with his x-coach (a Melbourne supporter) who coached JV until he moved to Adelaide (with his old man moving to the crows), Jack is still very close with his x-coach and speaks to him regularly. His x-coach (who has coached a number of current AFL stars in their junior years) has told me he is the most talented kid he has ever seen, with all the skills and a monster engine. If there was a draft for his year today he would be number 1 pick.

The only problem is that Jack Viney is a massive Hawthorn supporter (due to Todds involvement with the club when he was growing up). I am told he wants to play for Hawthorn but has succumbed to the fact it is Melbourne or the luck of the draft. Apparently, Jack has already decided he will go to Melbourne rather going to the draft and is very excited about our prospects (from a conversation Melb v Ade).

I always thought he was in the 2011 draft but others on here assured me its 2012 draft. I must ask his x-coach. Whichever the case he will arrive as a readymade midfielder in the same vein as Trenners.

Lets hope he does not change his mind!

Hi all, long time reader of this site but never got round to making an account. Couldn't resist but making a post about Jack!

I went to school with him and played footy with him for 2 years before he moved to South Australia. I tell you, It wasn't alot of fun being in his side as he was the only bloke who got the ball. Kicked it out of the middle, ran forward and kicked the goal!

Although he's not that big the opposition were scared of him. Even some opposition parents wanted him to be banned, but I never saw him throw a punch. He was that hard. The most physical player I have seen at that age!

I can also confirm that he will be finishing school in 2012 and wants to go to the dees. Have asked him and said he'll be going to us under father-son.

He is ridiculously strong and was the school cross country champion. He is an absolute freak!

Being in the 2012 draft he will be out of the clutches of GWS unless we decide not to take him and he lasts until their pick.

It's not a lay-down-misere that we get him if we want him -- Carlton talked Marc Murphy out of going the father-son route with Brisbane as he was eligible.

Fortunately Jack by all reports wants to stay in Melb and if we're lucky Hawthorn won't be near the bottom of the table (potential spanner).

He may want to work on a decent nickname though, cos I doubt he'll get called "Jack".

"SOT"..?

My understanding is father/son trumps all preferencial draft choice eg if jack trengove was the son of an ex magpie player with 50+ games then they would have first call on him as long as the kid agrees. That applies to GWS as well.

If the tiger with number one draft pick in 2012 pick him then we could trump them under father/son. Not a bad deal. I imagine he would be a bit like maloney. A great pick up. just think - Viney, scully, trengove, watts, grimes, morton, jurrah, petterd, frawley - all superb young guns. Very exciting.Who will be able to match us in an expanded competition?

He's current S.A. Under 16 coach was quoted recently as saying he is the toughest and best player to come through their ranks during his time as coach.

Apparently he has all the toughness and aggression of his father, but with better skills and decision making.

He is definitely predicted to be ranked top 3, most probably number 1, though as stated above already, we can snag him under the father-son rule, by giving up most probably our first pick, which will be anywhere from pick 10 - 20 at a guess.

Bargin!!!

So pumped.

From the sounds of it he will come in and make an immediate impact in the 2013 season, just when we will be having a crack at the flag.

Is he coming in the GWS draft year?

If so, it'd be more like 30ish... :o

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
