AFL Replay

Hey guys. I had to work on Saturday night so all I got of the game were brief radio updates. I see on afl.com that you can stream replays of the matches but for some reason Saturdays won't load for me. Has anyone successfully streamed a replay (of any game?) or am I just wasting my time here?

Are you using Firefox? It won't work if you are. Try (as painful as it is to say it) internet explorer.

Yeah, I too missed the game :( but have just watched the last quarter on the AFL website. I am on Mac but it played ok if only on low resolution. At times it looked a bit like a dodgy computer game from around 1992!! :D. I might try the rest of the game during the week. I found that at high res it buffered for ever.

I watched the whole game last night through the AFL 'Game Analyser' function on the AFL website.

Even though I saw it live; believe me the TV coverage does not tell the full story; not.

Oh yeah, there are some 'right click' options some might find 'useful' too.

Go Dees - "What was that"?....."A corner,.....we just turned it"!!!! Bring on the good times.

The torrent is available, but i'm not going to give the address (pretty sure it is against site rules). I'm sure if you do some searching you will find it.

So we have torrents now. 'Dem Demons are hittin the big time now!

I have it on Foxtel IQ, would somebody tell me how I could transfer this to a more convienient, perhaps portable form of multi media storage device. Its a storage/logistics issue I have. I'm not a dirty pirate. I can't even swim..

The AFL seriously need to sort their garbage website out. Every time I try to watch hilights it dies about 10 seconds in and restarts. It has always been pants but in 2010 there is just no excuse for it.

Okay, here's the deal for everyone wondering about the AFL website and streaming demons games.

Firefox and/or IE is fine, but what you want to do is stream them from the bigpond TV site, not the AFL site. The way to do this is as follows:

Go to AFL.com.au, then click on "matches", next to "latest video" on the right side of the screen.

Then select the quarter you want and a new window will open and you'll be streaming via Bigpondvideo.

Now, the last thing you need to realize is when there is a heap of traffic, the stream will cut out. So, you need to watch the game when there isn't. Late at night, early morning, or during the week is best. The final piece of the puzzle is that you CAN rip the stream using any traditional method but you will have to do it when there is no traffic or your download will cut out.

Hope that helps. The AFL website is a mess (as is anything Telstra touches) but once you get to know it is very useful.

BTW I have a 20 megabit per second download speed so it might be best to rip it overnight if you don't have a big pipe.

I've tried all of this, and it doesnt make a lick of difference, whether I try to watch it at home (ADSL 2+) or the office. I don't know anything about this stuff, but why cant they do it like on YouTube where you can sit back and wait to download the whole thing, rather than have to put up with "streaming" issues?

Not having Foxtel, I've used the BigPond replay site a fair bit over the past few years & it's been great. Particularly after enduring weeks of floggings it's been good to be able to go back & find a game where we either won or played well. I'm also ADSL2+ and while you'd get the occasional buffering issue, this weeks replay has been ridiculous. Hit the feedback button people & tell them it's stuffed - it usually gets fixed.

The Crows game had the first quarter loaded four times rather than the whole match. They fixed that. Shouldn't happen though - someone has dropped the ball in there this year

Well, the whole thing is stuffed, it's not just what has happened recently. It's ridiculous that there are streams and torrents that apparently work perfectly fine, but the AFL can't get it together to provide even a dodgy version. And don't start me on problems for Mac users.

I'd encourage everyone to email the MFC, and get them to complain on our behalf. No point having followers in China if they can't watch the game.

    DEFUSE THE BOMBERS by Meggs

Last Saturday’s crushing loss to Fremantle, after being three goals ahead at three quarter time, should be motivation enough to bounce back for this very winnable Round 5 clash at Windy Hill. A first-time venue for the Melbourne AFLW team, this should be a familiar suburban, windy, footy environment for the players.   Essendon were brave and competitive last week against ladder leader Adelaide at Sturt’s home ground. A familiar name, Maddison Gay, was the Bombers best player with

    BLOW THE SIREN by Meggs

Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze. The Melbourne Coach had promised an improved performance, and we did start better than previous weeks, winning the ball out of the middle, using the breeze advantage and connecting to the forwards.

    GETAWAY by Meggs

Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval. It promises to be keenly contested, though Fremantle is the bookies clear favourite.  If we lose, finals could be remoter than Rottnest Island especially following on from the Dees 50-point dismantlement by North Melbourne last Sunday.  There are 8 remaining matches, over the next 7 weeks.  To Meggs’

    DRUBBING by Meggs

With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out

    GOOD MORNING by Meggs

If you are driving or training it to Cranbourne on Saturday, don’t forget to set your alarm clock. The Melbourne Demons play the reigning premiers Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields this Saturday, with the bounce of the ball at 11:05am.  Yes, that’s AM.   The AFLW fixture shows deference to the AFL men’s finals games.  So, for the men it’s good afternoon and good evening and for the women it’s good morning.     The Lions were wounded last week by 44 points, their highest ever los

    HORE ON FIRE by Meggs

The 40,000 seat $319 million redeveloped Kardinia Park Stadium was nowhere near capacity last night but the strong, noisy contingent of Melbourne supporters led by the DeeArmy journeyed to Geelong to witness a high-quality battle between two of the best teams in AFLW.   The Cats entered the arena to the blasting sounds of Zombie Nation and made a hot start kicking the first 2 goals. They brought tremendous forward half pressure, and our newly renovated defensive unit looked shaky.

    REMATCH by Meggs

The Mighty Demons take on the confident Cats this Saturday night at the recently completed $319 million redeveloped GMHBA Stadium, with the bounce of the ball at 7:15pm. Our last game of 2023 was an agonisingly close 5-point semi-final loss to Geelong, and we look forward to Melbourne turning the tables this week. Practice match form was scratchy for both teams with the Demons losing practice matches to Carlton and Port Adelaide, while the Cats beat Collingwood but then lost to Essendo
