Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Out- Miller, Spencer, Dunn

In- Martin, Newton, Sylvia (or anyone who is willing to bust their ass for us)

Miller is no AFL standard forward. Period. Some might argue neither is Newton- I argue this hasn't been proven- just yet. Spencer right now is not up to it- way too raw and unco right now- not sure on his long term future considering other hopefuls we just recruited. Dunne is no AFL forward either, it seems MFC are struggling to find a permanent home for this young man- another one in the gun sights..

I'll spare you the passion and just use the word - development.

That said, I'd see little difference between playing Martin or Spencer. Both get a game for the same reason or don't get a game for the same reason. Almost identical in terms of where they're at with their football.

Which Newton are you referring to?? Do we have another one other than Michael???? There's no way you're talking about Michael "First haemophiliac to play AFL" Newton as being capable of a contested mark.

Remember he did win a car with a capable mark, maybe he needs another one

I think Stefan Martin might be one unco-ordinated foot ahead of him. At least Stef can run without looking like he is going to trip himself over. And he did kick a few goals last year.

Why would Hughes get a game?? ......

Thought I read on here somewhere that Hughes had shown a bit in the NAB games. He has a few supporters from Casey last year.

Also he is a bit older (24?23) with a solid body.

My side against the filth would be:

____________________________________

Out: Spencer Miller Dunn Bruce

In: Martin Garland Sylvia Maric

____________________________________

B: Grimes Warnock Frawley

HB: MacDonald Garland McKenzie

C: Bennell Scully Davey

HF: Sylvia Bate Petterd

F: Green Jamar Trengove

Foll: Martin Moloney McDonald

I: Maric Jones Rivers Strauss

______________________________________

* Grimes to customary back pocket/rebound role this week against a top side.

* Bennell to the wing where he can use his pace and skill.

* Garland to get first crack at CHB ahead of Rivers.

* The Big Russian in the goalsquare to at least cause Collingwood a match up headache,

with Green and Trengove providing some genuine quick leading targets to kick at, as well

as provide the crumbing badly missing last week.

* MCkenzie to start after the commitment he showed last week.

* Bruce out to make a statement to senior players.

* Ditto Jones and Rivers who should be on notice.

Go Deez!

Plenty of guys did poorly, but some have runs on the board. Dunn is the first one I'd drop - I thought his intensity was really poor at times. Bennell and Spencer also looked ordinary. Given it was Strauss' debut I'd be tempted to keep him, and Bate will probably be better for the run. If we keep Miller he should play as a push-up forward.

Sylvia's the easy in, providing he's fit, while Martin gives us more as a second-string ruckman than Spencer. Cheney is an obvious replacement for Bennell, although we might want to go with Bartram instead.

Given our forward line, Newton and Hughes should be considered, and as Newton apparently played okay I'd bring him in.

PS. Dropping McKenzie is crazy!

Did Bate actually run last weekend? I thought he was just jogging on the spot and falling over inbetween.

Strauss is worth persisting with. But please let soemone else take the kick ins. The kid doesn't deserve that kind of pressure. Imagine the Filth army and that lout Joffa giving it to him from behind the goals. Could detroy the young fellas confidence

I agree, in fact I don't think they should play Strauss on the last line of defence this week at all. Half back or wing in spurts off the bench.

A mauling by Davis or Didak in the pocket would scar the kid.

Bail was an emergency for last week so I assume he may be one of the first considered if there are any other changes apart from Sylvia in, which I assume will be for Dunn.

Bail has been showing steady improvement throughout the preseason

The mindset that we are at at the moment, negative, it should be

A challenge to nullify Davis or Didak will only improve Strauss and show him he has the ability at AFL level

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
