Boo Brock?

Recommended Posts

Fair enough he made a choice to leave - his role was going to be diminished by the talent we have got coming in and was probably offered a lesser contract. But he must be aware of the effect the comments that he apparently made after the match last night would have. Tie that in with the certain of treachery that is inherent in leaving a club and you have got a souring relationship. Some people were embarassed when we booed Bock last year, but I thought it gave the 'G the feeling of a 'home ground crowd' that we have not had in a while. Why then not show this guy that we will not just give him a pat on the back as he walks away to what he thinks will be greener pastures?

I'll boo him anyway but what did he say?

He said "that was my first win in round 1, since 2005". Not that bad, don't know if he said anything else.

Sometimes it's just the way things are said...

If its a statement of fact then there isnt much to object to now is there? As players and supporters we can empathise with that cant we?

All he was really saying it was great to win first up asnd then he had not done so since 2005.Brock has been very consistant saying he did not feel that the MFC would improve dramatically over the next 2 to 3 years. However let's show him team- by winning tommorrow.

I'll never boo him as I genuinely believe Brock gave all and was totally honest by saying he did not want to play with the team anymore. We just need to hope Gysberts turns out well as a replacement.I think he will.

me too!!!

Personally I leave the booing to the hypocritical cretins at clubs like carlton and collingwood. They boo anyone who leaves them but cheer like rabid dogs for anyone who comes to them, like Judd and Ball.

good on you!!

He was playing and therefore partially responsible for these losses he is making stupid remarks about.

If the passionate, massive, tribal, huge, etc crowds that follow the blues and pies around are cretins, then call me a wannabe cretin.

I'll boo him anyway (just for kicks) but I don't think those comments are that offensive to be honest. Brock's gone, and I for one am extremely happy we got Gysberts for him.

I really rate Booing. I find it very enjoyable and usually have a good laugh after each good boo. i always enjoy the footy and a bit of good humoured vocal banter is a great part of it. If you want to hear some cretins go no further than the MCC members where I sit. The words "kick it" are used as a solve all by many of my fellow supporters.

do you concede that some of those 'kick its' are followed by a series of handballs that eventually come unstuck and someone is caught into a turnover, and kicking it WOULD have been the better option

I will very much enjoy Booing then laughing at Brock when he's hopelessly trying to run down a player at walking pace, with his head strangeley upright. As a passionate Demon suporter, laughing sometimes is the only thing that keeps me sane.

Definite case for booing.

FFS. Whatever pleases people these days?

I remember Woewy's first game against us, on Queens Birthday. Many of our supporters booed him and i could not work out why, given we gave him the push. Collingwood went on to win by 58 points that day. An embarrassing defeat, made even more so by imbecilic booing.

While it may feel good for some at the time, it serves no purpose whatsoever. You can boo at your own peril. I just want to see a good game of footy and hopefully the Dees can challenge Carlton.

The only time I've ever booed at a football match was a few years ago when Ben Johnson gave Belly a hip to the head and knocked him out cold. Booed every time he got near it after that. Beyond that, I can't really be bothered wasting my energy booing, especially not for players who we were more than adequately compensated for when they left. I just don't see the point.

The point is he turned his back on us, thought he could do better, thought he deserved better, than to play for the Melbourne Football Club.

Having said that I won't boo him because I'll be too busy watching the play to bother, lol.

But I will never cheer him again that's for sure. And I'll never forget the fact that he put himself before his mates.

Brock's been a pro in all the media I've heard since he decided to leave and since he left.

He did donate that money to the Demons too.

I wont be booing him but I also wont be wishing him luck at Carlton

Can we cheer him if he stuffs up?

Completely agree Iva especially your last sentence.

If Ju$$ & Ball were playing for us tomorrow you would be cheering them-now wouldn't you.... :)

I wouldn't waste my time. More important players to boo...

Possibly current demons.

:D

I kid. There's far more threatening players running round for the blues I'd be worried about. Kruezer, Judd, Murphy, Gibbs... They're the difference-makers in that side.

THE ACCIDENTAL DEMONS by The Oracle

In the space of eight days, the Melbourne Football Club’s plans for the coming year were turned upside down by two season-ending injuries to players who were contending strongly for places in its opening round match against the GWS Giants. Shane McAdam was first player to go down with injury when he ruptured an Achilles tendon at Friday afternoon training, a week before the cut-off date for the AFL’s pre-season supplemental selection period (“SSP”). McAdam was beginning to get some real mom

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the
