Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Seeing Gysberts & McKenzie in the 'bests' is just as good as Trengove and Scully dominating

Yeah good call. McKenzie is sure to be upgraded to the senior list after Bells injury.

Just got back from Adelaide. Decided at the last min to drive up on Friday arvo. I stayed In Horsham Friday night and left for Elizabeth Sat morning.

Things I took out of the game were..

Our young guys have a lot of heart. Special mentions to Jordie Mckenzie, James Strauss and Tommy Mac and Gysberts, when the game went up a notch these guys went with it. Mckenzie was an animal at times with his clearance work and Im now clear on why Adelaide chased him so hard.

Grimes, Trengove and Scully will form one of the best midfields we've ever had. All three of them are going to be out and out guns. Grimes works his arse off and the other two just glide around the ground racking up touches. Was good to see Trenners not backing down from the rough stuff, was more than happy to go on with it a couple of times.

Elizabeth has 10 time the amount of bogans than Dandenong but Is 5 times smaller.

I walked out of the ground disappointed as by the end the locals were giving it to me and I really wanted the win to shove it up them but It wasn't to be and a copped a verbal barrage as I left. Luckily my car was still in one piece as Ive heard they enjoy a Victorian number plate.

Anyway I'm glad to be home and now It's all said and done I'm fairly proud of our effort considering the players we had out and how young our team was.

I'm not very good with match reports so If anybody wants to know anymore Ill do my best to answer any questions.

You drove to see the game??!! Amazing effort J-Riv. Thanks for the update.

From what you saw where did Dunn line up? I know Bails like everyone to be versatile and play virtually anywhere on the field but did he line up forward at any stage or was he tagging like he spent last season?

Congratulations J-Riv. You escaped alive!!! I had a similar experience in 1985 - the interstate match b/w the Big V and the croweaters. It was the match where the Vics played one extra player and it was the year the SA clubs were about to lose all their best players (Kernahan, Platten, Bradley etc). Fortunately i kept my mouth shut and watched the Vics win by 50+ points.

I was listening to Scottie West on SEN this morning. He said the plane flight to Adelaide was in a 50 seater that had to fly around the storms. It took 2 1/2 hours for a trip that normally take an hour. They arrived late and he thanked Adelaide for agreeing to delay the start of the game.

Thanks for all the reports. i believe Rivers did not play after 1/2 time. Does anyone know if he was injured or rested?

Don't worry, it's just a suggestion. The Adelaide commentators spent all game going on about how the two were giving it off to each other, in fact considering how biased they are I was amazed by their compliments. I get the impression that these two are going to love playing with each other.

Below is ana rticle from foxsports

'Despite the injuries, Melbourne's wider prospects for 2010 were made to look brighter for much of the contest, as draftees Jack Trengove and Tom Scully vindicated their high ratings by running rings around a comparatively flat Adelaide midfield during the first half. '

http://www.foxsports...5018851,00.html

Yep absolutely it was just a suggestion!

It is natural that there will be competition between the two of them and they are destined to be compared for years to come. It was only one passage of play and I think (hope) that Scully didn't see Trengove and so kicked for the top of the square.

This is the first time I have seen Scully live, and I was really impressed with him. He is however still quite small and hasn't played against men before, so I think they will hold him back and give him time to develop.

I saw Trengove play (against men) in the SANFL a number of times last year. He should play a fair bit of footy for the Dee's this year but again they will take a cautious approach.

I saw enough on Saturday to say that 'The dynamic duo' are going to be awesome players for us in the years ahead.

They got plenty of it against quality opposition in wet and slippery conditions. In fact I think we will have a glut of quality players in the midfield in the next few years... just need a few big forwards to kick to!

If Jack Watts (in years to come) becomes anything near what Kurt Tippett is then we are in business.

Not sure if anyone else saw Tippets mark in the last quarter? but he jumped so early and just hung on someones shoulders for ages before taking mark of the year ... only to kick it out on the full!!!

I saw the mark.. If It was a regular season game you'd just call off the mark of the year prize and give It to Tippett. One of the best marks you'll see.

Rivers left injured. I'm not sure what was wrong but he was limping heavily after the game. It's funny you mentioned Johnny Platten as he was sitting behind me at one stage.

Thanks mate It was a bit of a spur of the momment thing. About 3 hours In I was thinking I cant believe Im driving this far to watch a practice match.

I didn't see Dunn go forward, he was playing in the midfeild. Not sure If he was tagging or not. Given Moloney and Sylvia weren't playing and Bell went down early and the poor conditions I think we needed all the big bodies around the contest.

......isn't that the whole point of the season for us?

As far as I am concerned WINNING games is the most important factor to and for our development. Pity we did not win this match - but it was an almighty effort- this is what we want from our team- a real red hot go.

*exhale*

Fine, but how do you WIN a match?

What does it take? What do you need to do better? In what areas do you need to improve to get a WIN?

How about CONSISTENT WINS?

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
