A sincrely GREAT effort from th young boys. We had several chances in the last 5 minutes missing reasonably easy goals. Ruddy kicking again. Rudeboy emailed me and said he spoke to Liam who said his shoulder popped out and they put it back in.Does not know how things will work out until cools down etc..Rudeboy said he was very upset as he was very much looking forward to playing with his brother -Wona.

We have plenty of time to watch the magic of these two young men. Go Dees. Great try..

Just got back from the game.

I have not been this happy in a long time. Scully and Trengove are amazing. About 3 or 4 times you could hear Scully yelling out instructions to players even at one point telling Mcdonald to push up. Scully runs so hard his jogging pace seems to be so much quicker then everyone else, he just cruises so fast. Trengove is a wonderful mark for his height. At one point just ran back with the flight, didn't take his eye off it and took a very strong mark in a contested situation. These boys just run and get the ball all day.

Gysberts is a few years off I think. He seems to be over focused on his opponent and team structure and looks like he has forgotten about Instinctively finding the ball or getting into space. His head was always darting around looking at his opponent and not even looking at the ball or trying to get it.

Chip is a star that is all that needs to be said. Petterd looked so strong in every contest and was making so many moves left and right he was getting space on his opponent. Maric needs to get more of the ball he is just doing nothing a lot of the time. Bail was very good and his kicking was very smooth. Bail ran hard trying to create space when bringing the ball out of defence and a few times dragged a player with him which helped open up the wings for our players to lead into. Cheney also did well and I think he is in my best 22 after watching him. Hard as nails and does well getting to other contests as a 3rd man.

They're kidding aren't they? They make it sound like we did nothing. I'm sick of reading that [censored]. They obviously had no-one at the game. They are blatantly reporting off a stats sheet handed to them.

Sorry, but this kind of reporting is fraudulent and becoming more common. They should not be allowed to report on a game unless they had someone there to watch it.

I could have given a better summation from listening to the radio commentary. The AFL website haven't even gone to that length.

I trekked out to Elizabeth in time to see quarters 2-4.

Great to see a smattering of Melbourne supporters among the sea of Crows fans.

Rained on-&-off for quarters 2-3 which did not help the skills of either side, particularly Melbourne. I will not belabour this point but we just make it so much harder for ourselves. Spencer on two occasions within 20 secs had two chip kicks to a team-mate along the boundary line on the outer flank and both fell short thereby pressurising his team-mate.

On the plus side, I was very impressed with the intensity of the team. For example, 3-4 Melbourne players managed to hold the ball in a scrimmage on our half-forward line against 8-9 Crows in q2. Tackling at times was also very good.

Just some short notes on some players:

No prizes for recognising that Trengove & Scully are gems. They run, have skills and presence, and Trengove is already an aggressive tackler. They will be stars of the competition within 2-3 years.

Our captain played one of his best games that I've seen

Jamar is more-than-competitive in the ruck

Frawley will be an All-Australian within 2 years

Jack Grimes seems to have added some muscle this year. He's going to be very good.

Cheney did some good things as did Jordie McKenzie (#13). McKenzie has speed, awareness and skills. I'd get him off the rookie list!

On the negative side:

I won't mention the injuries to Jurrah & Bell which the AFL site is reporting as shoulder injuries

Jones limped from the ground just before half-time with an apparent ankle injury but returned from the break with a light bandage around his knee. He did play in the second half but was not as prominent. The injury could not be too serious to play-out the second half of a meaningless practice match. I was so impressed with his stamina, enthusiasm & improved skills against Freo. I hope that he will have a great year with some mid-field assistance from Trengove, Scully, Grimes, Moloney, Sylvia, etc

Rivers was in a tracksuit for the second half and I had the dreadful impression of a limp.

Worried about Maric. Tries hard, did get 2 goals, but appears lost at times.

It was disappointing not to win the game but we "owned" the final quarter. At least 4 missed shots on goal. Our structure actually looked really good with both ?Dunn & Miller leading-up from half-forward

In summary, though just a practice match, this was an 80-point better result than a Melbourne supporter living in Adelaide is used to seeing on the rare occasions that the side has been in town over the last few years. We're heading in the right direction! There will be more pain over the next two years and continuing skill errors that are just too painful to watch. But, as Dean Bailey says, let's get 50 games into all of these guys. Then the future will be very bright!

Great game. It didn't matter that it was a practice match and that I was listening on the radio, I still got really passionate at the end.

Petterd shaping up to be a star, thats 4 goals for the second week in a row.

Scully and Trengove will be future stars, not only are they amazing players, but they combine so well. They had something like 50 possessions between them. Newton had a shocke, and for anyone who's intersted, MacDonald, Wonaeamirri and Fitzpatrick were the 3 who were in the squad that didn't play.

Really impressive signs for the Dees today at Elizabeth, even with Sylvia,Moloney, Davey, Bruce, Johnson, Garland and MacDonald all out we did a great job to almost win the match (we should've). Junior McDonald is in great form, he continued to impress today, McNamara, McKenzie, Strauss and Frawley were all good in the backline for the Dees, while Maric played a great game with 2 classy goals. Miller is re-booting some form as well, I was expecting the Dees to get handsomely beaten, but with a few hours to think about it, we actually played well

Again conflicting reports on Maric. I really hope Jones and Rivers are right to go round 1 - maybe Riv was just being rested?

I'd be interested to hear more on how McNamara, Strauss and Bail went. This is the second week in a row I've heard positives about Bail. McNamara I want to see more off I like his run, and it sounds like Strauss has played another solid game and might be a chance for round 1.

Also - Cheney, Dunn, Bartram - is the answer for round 1 as of now - probably, maybe and no.

Sounds like Tippet kicked 5 of Warnock, but 1 from a ruck free kick and another from the last free of the game. I hope Warnock actually did some better stuff than his first 2 games.

Finally, Spencer v Martin - who's looking likely for round 1.
