Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Thanks for your coverage WJ. I'm surprised that Blease and Strauss didn't change. Changing numbers seems to be the fashion atm.

Looks like the night was a resounding success.

Joel McDonald is, of course, a more mature age player who looks a bit like Ben Stiller and who isn't a big fan of The Fev.

Did he say anything specific or is that just reading between the lines.

He just came right out with the statement when asked by The Ox about his reaction. I have a feeling that he might have regretted saying it as soon as the words left his mouth but good luck to him. You hear so many players over the years getting interviewed and giving us BS, it was refreshing to see somebody tell the truth.

I concur Jimmy is a great man and i would go to war for the man, he inspires me.

The Macdonald call on Fev was hilarious. He also touched on his training goals over the preseason and mentioned he keeps a logbook of how many errors he makes and is trying to get it down to zero errors per session. Good to see hes a perfectionist, i think he will be greta for us with his experience down back.

I love Cameron Schwabs emphasis on Heritage and how it plays a massive part in the success of our club along with the business and on field side of things going forward. I take it the belated presentation of Spencer's Truscott trophy was Cams idea. Seeing Ox and Neita there brought a huge smile to my face and i hope the rookies gain an understanding of how much the club means to some people.

The club's accountant spoke. He was very entertaining for an accountant and there were no questions. Bottom line is that the club made a small operating profit and, thanks to debt demolition, club debt has been reduced to $1.5m. The situation is improving but we are still reliant on the AFL and the MCC so we're not out of the woods yet.

Good update WJ. Hopefully the club can knock that ~$1.5 million off this year. (I was expecting around ~$1.2m in debt).

Cam said it was an indictment that we're stil training at Junction Oval but the good news is we move into our new facilities in the Melbourne Park precinct. We have a 21 year lease at Casey Fields reviewable by us every five years. We will be looking at possibilities with a planned development at the Docklands.

I thought they sought a 30 year deal with Casey Council/Casey Fields ?

#48 Darren Cuthbertson(!) -> Jack Fitzpatrick

 Cuthbo !

I so wish I was there last night but im on holidays in Skenes Creek.

Good holiday spot. I'm jealous.

Cam made a slip at one point which has led to some confusion here. It is the Olympic Parke deal that is reviewable every 5 years and is nominally 21. The proposed Docklands deal would replace Olympic Park.

There is currently $1.5m of debt, however there are future donations of about $400k that will be put in the books during the 2010 financial year. So while we are technically $1.5m in debt, we have future contributions that effectively make it close to $1m.

Thanks for clearing that up AoB.

My highlight was Jimmy. He's lean and has a shaven head but he's still Jimmy and in his adversity he's still looking strong and, as always, courageous. What a great leader!

Jimma was great; the best bit was him standing back to back with Gawn after he pesented him with #37; Gawn is one big unit.

Thanks, and yes it is refreshing that not all players are brainwashed into only saying the "right" thing.

The thing that stood out for me was DB's comment about continuing to put games into young players to ensure they played together and he named as forwards Bate, Jurrah, Watts, Maric and one other I can't remember who would benefit in the long term from this.

It's not their age that matters - in other words older does not necessarily mean better - but the number of games they have played together, he said.

Get that right, get games into them as a group when they are all young and their premiership window will be open longer.

Great work WJ, JCB and others. You can't begin to know how much these reports are appreciated by us interstate members / supporters. For me it was a toss-up between travelling down from Canberra for last night's event or making the trip for the intra-club hit out at Casey on 13 Feb. I opted for the latter, and the time can't pass quickly enough, especially after reading the feedback on these pages.

I was a bit surprised when I heard the date for the family day at Luna Park as being the day after the intraclub game at Casey Fields. That makes it 14 February which is the Big Sunday at the St. Kilda Festival. That means big crowds, car parking hassles and queuing forever for the rides. Then. on the way home, you have to hurdle over the drunks in the streets. I'm not sure that's the right atmosphere for family day.

The members information night had a number of great presentations, but the one that caught my attention most was Bails. After the first line, I was wondering if I was sitting in the MCC Dining Room or in the change rooms in preparation for the Queens Birthday clash; Bails is a great orator and rivals anyone else I've heard.

As a MFC lover and footy fanatic, I often wonder how to predict whether one team will score more than another team. Teams need players who can change momentum with courage and skill, a game plan to suit the relative strengths of its individuals, and a coach who can inspire players to bust their gut more than opponents. I struggle to pick a game plan and whether one is better than the other, but boy-oh-boy Bails does a great gee-up job.

I didn't get that impression, given he made another comment along similar lines a little later in the interview (iirc, there was a a slightly tongue-in-cheek 'good luck to [brisbane]' remark re: the Fev recruitment).

I think you made a good choice, given that posters on here and Demonology have provided some nice summaries of the AGM/Members Info Night.

You will not get a park within 5km's on Stkilda on that day. St Kilda festival is massive and getting bigger every year. Seems a very very strange day to have it on, there will be 9 million people in the area that day, it is a nightmare to navigate around.

PS: The updates are great to read thanks for posting. Can not wait for Sat week to see the intra club match.

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. By the time they worked out it was game on, their opponents from Box Hill had accumulated five goals and, if the game wasn’t over, it might as well have been. For a se

A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
