Sylvia will win the bluey and make AA

Grimes will tear them apart from half back and the middle

Bate will kick 50+ goals for the year.

Absolutely spot on with all 3 comments!

Jonesy will relish more responsibility and be more consistent as well. His disposal is improved and fitness no concern at this early stage. He seems to have developed core strength in spades and really trains like he is in the middle of a game. Would be a nuisance verbally to opponents too!

Totally with you here, it seems a lot of people don't rate him all that highly, and seem to consider him a senior player, in that they don't expect much improvement from him. The fact is he turns 22 next week, he just seems older as he's played 70 games in his first 4 years. His best 6 or 7 years of footy are out in front of him now. He has a couple of weaknesses in his game but I have no doubt he'll fix them and become our Sam Mitchell, an important cog in the packs, it will be he and Scully winning all the tight ball. Fantastic attitude too.

Joel MacDonald could step up a gear this year. He's 25 with 6 pre-seasons under his belt; he brings a good combination of experience and skills; he'll play an important role in defence for us by getting a lot of possessions, and he has a point to prove to Brisbane.

Sylvia looks in terrific condition. A good mix of skills, toughness, and fitness. He can also kick the footy a mile.

I would also say Jamar, but I'm not sure if he's done a full pre-season.

Improvements should come from many players

Scully and Trengove will in time be stars and will thrill supporters with their skills and work ethic.

Players like Jones and Dunn and Bate who have strong bodies and also great workrates have struggled in their development as they have found themselves trying to "do it all" in losing sides. They will all benefit from having better players around them and I think will all have break out years, which will not be unexpected!

The three players that I think may well really jump into supporters thinking (injuries permitting) will be Maric, Tapscott and McKenzie. Maric and Tapscott are ready to go and are both great finishers for goal. McKenzie given the opportunity will be a hard nosed, hard running midfielder that will relish the opportunity opened up by the departure of Brock and Junior from our midfield group.

Newton. Move on folks, the club has and so will he at year's end.

i am just hoping that it becomes hard for players to get a game, so we see a general improvement from the 3-5 year players.

Jamar, Dunn,Bate,Jones,Rivers etc.

All these players if they know there is a young kid waiting to pounce on their senior 22 spot will have to improve.

Over the last 3 or so years the pressure hasn't been put on them so much.

Most "experts" are predicting another year of development down the lower end of the ladder-Fine, on paper they are allowed to think that.

But if our 3-5 year players make an improvement-Raise there own expectations the MFC could be so much more competitive.

1. Matthew Bate

2. Nathan Jones

3. Lynden Dunn

If Sylvia & Davey continue to shine the forward line may well kick quite a few winning scores. But my 1-3 have been around long enough-they must fire this year.

Just don't be so cocksure of yourself. Hope he shows you and up and barbeques your thoughts

THE ACCIDENTAL DEMONS by The Oracle

In the space of eight days, the Melbourne Football Club’s plans for the coming year were turned upside down by two season-ending injuries to players who were contending strongly for places in its opening round match against the GWS Giants. Shane McAdam was first player to go down with injury when he ruptured an Achilles tendon at Friday afternoon training, a week before the cut-off date for the AFL’s pre-season supplemental selection period (“SSP”). McAdam was beginning to get some real mom

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the
