Just read,http://www.heraldsun.com.au/entertainment/music/george-michael-to-tour-australia-but-will-not-be-playing-in-melbourne/story-e6frf9hf-1225803484744 where it states that George Michael will not be playing in Melbourne due to the NAB CUP. Is this something the club in conjunction with Casey Council could provide for all of us?

There are many more venues/grounds around with far better general transport and asociated facilites. Whilst beneficial in some maner to casey its pie in the sky stuff. No harm in thinking..

Always respect yours and other views- Why is it pie in the sky stuff- Buses could run to it, re pick up from Stations etc.. plenty of car space, under lights, may help to raise monies for seating for say 30 thousand, then we could hold NAB cup games continuously there as well as some low attendance matches. Please tell me where in the outer areas of eastern Melbourne close to Gippsland could we hold these type of entertainment. You stated there were more grounds with far better general transport and associated facilities. I challenge you -WHERE?

Why do you have the stipulation 'outer areas of eastern Melbourne close to Gippsland'?

Why don't you challenge bb's assertion by asking WHERE ELSE in Casey Fields we could hold this type of event? :)

Wasnt being flippant.. just matter of fact.. Firstly you have to ask...does teh MFC want to go into this sort of business..much underwriting...not always a given you make squillions.etc. But lets say for the moment we do.

Nearly all larger type concerts are held somewhere where sufficient infrastructure exists. An arguable example to the contrary ( just to help out..lol ) might be Calder...But that is very contained.. Casey isnt really..its quite open.

I would suggest that the validity of needing the venue in the outer east accessible to Gippsland is debatable. Thats very much like the mountian going to Mohomed. Existing venues for larger concerts already exist at .dare I say it..Visy ( but precedent set ) Showgrounds.. .. Caulfield ( RC ) .

You have to consider the demographics of potential audiances to these things. They are going to want a fair amoutn of public transport. Thats still a bone of contention about Casey...hopefull attended to one day with extension to Cranbourne East.

The above mentioned arenas have track records. In the old days it could have been held art Artic Park.

In many ways his is a chicken and the egg thing.. If Casey was already a boutique stadium...with all facilites including transport...then indeed there is much potential for many things.. keep in mind...its not OUR venue.. We cant use these events to build the place...only really the other way around.

How does one get to Calder by public transport, The rest of your points do not add up- these other venues such as Visy park etc.. have major restictions due to a built up area.I ,if I was an entreprenuer would jump at the chance to hold say open air concerts at Casey.Your points whilst valid would not deter me. I may just try it to see.!

I only suggested Calder as an example of different sort of venue..away from the city. its been used for big day out type things. But hey...you spotted the problem straight away.. lack of public transport.. Specialist arrangements are made. This wont happen just for George Michael etc.

Visy, Showgrounds, Caulfield, have all done events before..theres no problem using them...what are these restrictions you speak of ? Sandown is another.. probably a better bet too. Has railway not too far away..lots of parking.. already has all the facilites.

Do your sums carefully ...and check and recheck them. . Suggest you look into the health issues.. Food and beverage licences /permits. Public Liability.. Security...and the list goes on ;).... oh the promoter invariably underwrites the occasion too...hope you have very deep pockets ;)

    Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze. The Melbourne Coach had promised an improved performance, and we did start better than previous weeks, winning the ball out of the middle, using the breeze advantage and connecting to the forwards.

    Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval.     With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    The 40,000 seat $319 million redeveloped Kardinia Park Stadium was nowhere near capacity last night but the strong, noisy contingent of Melbourne supporters led by the DeeArmy journeyed to Geelong to witness a high-quality battle between two of the best teams in AFLW.   The Cats entered the arena to the blasting sounds of Zombie Nation and made a hot start kicking the first 2 goals. They brought tremendous forward half pressure, and our newly renovated defensive unit looked shaky.

    The Mighty Demons take on the confident Cats this Saturday night at the recently completed $319 million redeveloped GMHBA Stadium, with the bounce of the ball at 7:15pm. Our last game of 2023 was an agonisingly close 5-point semi-final loss to Geelong, and we look forward to Melbourne turning the tables this week.
