Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

ok.... i dont usually do this but a mate of myn who knows a bit to do with the happenings at collingwood land has heard a whisper...

that Melbourne may be pursuing Chris Dawes with your 2nd round selection.

Pies are keen to off load Dawes for the pick because it will help them in their quest to trade for Fevola who they are very interested in and a deal at this stage looks likely.

Dont flame me i am just sharing what i have heard and its definetly not concrete but wanted to see what peoples opinions were on this.

I for one, rate Dawes!!! He is still 21 i think , 193-194cm, has a real developed body and could be the power forward bails has been praying for!!!

I for one would be very very happy if this happens?

He was drafted as a late 2nd rounder and in 3 years has done absolutely nothing at AFL level.

You pay more for players that have gone forwards not backwards.

Surely he is worth nothing more than a 4th rounder.

I unfortunately work with some die hard Pie supporters and they actually know a bit about footy. They would be shattered if Dawes left them, they think he his a very good footballer and we should see this in 2010. I haven't seen much of this guy but he is a good size and if the Pies get Fev this guy will be out the door.

Im quite excited about the prospect.

Really well developed big body!

From what i did see of him when playing this year i liked it. Good hands and moves very well.

Keep in mind that Dawes has effectively one less year of development under his belt as he suffered a serious knee injury in his final U18 year.

From all reports, he's shown enough promise in the VFL to be considered a viable prospect at AFL level. With Rocca, Cloke and Anthony in the queue ahead of him at Collingwood, it's been a tough ask.

I'd give him a go, probably with pick 34. Pick 18 seems too high, so we'd need to obtain another second round pick to satisfy that demand if it exists.

With Dawes at FF, Watts at CHF and Jurrah roaming as the dangerous 3rd tall id be very very very happy to get Dawes.

Would rather pick 34 goes to them but I can handle pick 18 cause I rate him pretty highly.

The times I've seen him at VFL level he hasn't been great, I wouldn't be that interested in a trade. However, I guess he has had some injury issues. With Rocca leaving I can't see Collingwood letting him go.

If Rusling could stay on the park and not be injured he'd be ok for a late pick too.

No one really cares that Collingwood are screaming out for a FF and they are trying to palm him off cause he hasn't cut the mustard? I just dont see the logic in wanting a reject from another club. Hes VERY slow and hasn't shown that much in his 10 games in... 3years. If he was taken laste 2nd round in a FULL draft and they want us to give them 18 in a WEAK draft. I wish our club would stop being everyones whipping boys.

i like that we are chasing players that play in positions that we lack atm

but in saying that pick 18 is to high, pick 34 i would say yes

also sean rusling i rate if he can stay on the park, give em a 4th rounder that we prob wont use because theres no way they can be asking for anything more. :)

Depends which way you look at it. Not going to get anything after pick 20 ppl are saying so to part with pick 18 would be the last chance to get a highly rated kid.

21 years old!

Got drafted 2006. So been in the system 3 years now! Which a lot of people think it takes 3-4 years in the system as a forward to relise potential?

Dont give a two hoots where he was drafted in 2006, its 2009, he has added body mass and had experience in the system. You cant honestly think just cause of where he was drafted we dont have to give up to their needs?

So lets say Wonna, according to your logic, if we wanted to trade him you would be happy with a rookie draft pick or something along those lines?

The reason for them getting rid of Dawes is for them to get Fev! Their window is well and truly open right now.

Anthony and Fev being the main targets up forward would be good for them.

We get a 21 year old power forward also who is yet to really prove anything other than potential but has lacked the chance to do so. He gets that chance with us

I am sorry but what is with this new American word being used POWER FORWARD?

Maybe i'm just being anal about it but it F%cks me off. He is a Full forward, that is the position he plays and the position on the field. Dunstall and Lockett were Full Forwards in todays game people would call them power forwards and its stupid. The word is being thrown around with any player who has size about them.

No offence to you mouse as many people are using the word. I wouldn't mind giving Dawes a go btw.

They have a very young list. There window doesn't look like closing any time soon. Well you can take Dawes i wont. Dont see much upside in him to tell you the truth as i said VERY SLOW and has played 10games in 3years. i dont care how long it takes to relise potential. Potential is the worst word in football mean you haven't achived anything...

sorry mort will not use the word again.

I think after bailey used it once or twice when describing what he wants a month or two ago , it caught on.

I suppose i see the word as a forward that is strong, a forward who can hold his position when the ball is kicked high in fifty.

i will never use the word again though :) FF it is

We can cop a slowish FF when surrounded by pace in Jurrah and Watts if he's a clean mark and has good footy smarts. It's about getting the right balance into your forward line.

I haven't seen enough of him to know how meritorious the trade would be, but in reality I'm not expecting much of a player at pick 18 this year, which is one of the reasons I'm glad we've got pick 11.

I wouldn't dismiss it out of hand.

Im just saying i dont think we NEED Dawes. pick 18 could be a good pick i think we shuold keep it. having 4 picks before anyone has 2 would be great for us. Juts hate giving clubs the upper hand when we have it slightly

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
