When a star leaves drop me a line.

If they're not a star and we're well compensated I couldn't give a toss.

You're in love with players who perform in finals. McLean is the last player to have actually done that at the MFC.

He may not be a star, but when fit he is a very good player. As for compensation, I suppose we'll see whether pick 11 is a good enough deal. The chance of us picking someone significantly better than Brock are 50/50 at best.

But as I said, if he left for the money he can [censored] off, I simply don't care for players who leave in search of better pay without any sense of loyalty. If this was club driven, then I'd be interested to hear more.

Right now, I'm shocked and sad to think that my favourite player is going to Carlton. It's a kick in the guts.

You either follow the team or you follow individuals.

Brock didn't cut it for whatever reason.

I suport the team.

A very smart decision by the MFC.

Enough sentiment. Let's get serious.

Complete dog and Pick 11 better be a good player. I'm actually fuming. Can't wait to see Moloney clean him up when we verse Carlton next, and coincidently I have mounted a strong case for Beamer to be our next skipper.

You might want to rethink your avatar mate.

Ok last post by me. I know i have never posted or even joined before yesterday , but i have been a very regular visitor to these forums for a long time. Just never had anything to add before yesterday. We as a club will be better of with at least 4 picks in the top 20. and a new coach in 2 years.

I'm really unsure how I feel about this, McLean has been a bit disappointing over the last couple of seasons but I'm unsure if it's because of injuries, lack of confidence or whether he's not really that good.

Based on this years form pick 11 is a great get, however based on what I thought he is capable of it's not so great.

I don't know, perhaps I'm just [censored] that someone actually wants to leave my great Melbourne, everytime I see Thommo tearing it up for the Crows I get the same feeling.

Fark it, it's done, time to move on and make the best out of the situation.

Does any one remember the way C.J left the club and the way he was sent of by D.B... In a Flash there will more departures...

i knew that flash part had a bit of irony in it, but what about the situation with the other indigenous boys, surely he cant leave them behind.

Ok i will not reveal my source - you would not believe it... The very same source has said the following .. Davey wants out - to play with his brother, the players as a group have no idea what the game plan is and there is much anger about the C.J send off. I know i will not be believed but it was the same conversation about brock. We will have to work hard to keep Flash.

Other than the connection with his fellow indigenous players I've got no problem with Davey leaving if there's adequate compensation. Davey raised his level this year, but I've never seen him perform in a big game and have never been his biggest fan.

Would prefer to keep though. Mind you, it won't be easy for him to get to Essendon. The bad press would be the biggest issue in my mind.

Also, because your source had one piece of accurate information doesn't mean I'll get carried away by all your assertions. Someone with an axe to grind may have been on the money once, which for the gullible suddenly gives all of their views credibility. And this is often what the informant seeks.

For all I know it's you who have an axe to grind. I'll not be too worried about Davey leaving.

[censored] joking.

Play with his brother? Professional sportsman? Surely he wouldn't leave

Agreed, this isn't a f'ing family reunion hour, this is professional sport.

Davey has four brothers at the Melbourne Football Club who need his guidance and support. If he leaves, it would be pretty poor management on our behalf IMO.

Brock Maclean can feel footsteps... with MFC about to recruit some high quality midfielders, Brock can probably see a future where the midfield is full of talent, and perhaps he sees a future full of pine splinters... Better to get on the VISY gravy train.

Brock goes with thanks. However, #11 in this years draft will be a fantastic asset, as the draft is going to be screwed by Vlad for the next few years- I hope it brings a superstar! #18 may now be more in play for trading???

Surely there's camaraderie between the players and for the club beyond the coach.

Davey won't go anywhere. We have a good Aboriginal culture at the club. Even if worse comes to worse and he does want to play with his brother, we will get the bombers first pick for him, number 10.

That would be just, wow

Theoretically, that would be Brad Miller.

I can't remember McLean's efforts in finals other than the magical St. Kilda final - his best career game. I'm ok with pick 11 for Brock, just not with the glee players seem to have at leaving the club.

Fark there's a lot of panic merchants on here.

What an embarrassing lot.

How is this panic? The fact that every player that plays for the demons is almost like family. We pay money to watch them play for this great club.

Especially Brock who many thought was a leader and passionate player for the dees.

Someone tells you that Aaron davey is leaving right after his just proven to be right about brock, well some feeling of concern has every right to be shown.

Brock was very tough and would get in and get the footy, but he was slow and had poor skills. How often would he get run down from behind? How many brownlow votes did he poll?

Pick 11 is a win-win.

As a supporter of the MFC, i find myself get attached to the players. Really don't like this part of footy, Mclean is a player i enjoyed watching. feel like i've lost someone close to me. ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh! :(

I guess Mclean won't be MFC next captain then. :P

carton rebuild is complete, they will be a force next year.

Other than the connection with his fellow indigenous players

That is the number one reason to keep Davey.

I don't think our future premiership depends on Davey's on field performance, but if he helps Aussie, Bennell, Jetta and most importantly Jurrah, than his worth is that of four players.

Davey is the best link our club has to these boys, we just can't afford to lose him.

i think our club needs to review our list management etc....

because surely we couldve reched a better deal than pick 11, send him to another club where we would get more

very disappointed!!! :(

Mate, they're cattle to me unless they're a star.

And don't believe everything you hear just because he got one right.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
