Would be nice to get a sure bet for once. Morabito/Martin are tantalising, but I'm dead sick of going for project players that end up not quite getting there.

Getting used to kicking to demons.

KJ, I think your exuberance may have sealed the deal for most 'landers.

Dappa agree totally

Gotta love players who stand up in finals and under tough conditions.

From the very very small amount of knowledge that I have, I would be ecstatic to get another Jack to Melbourne.

Thanks so much for the running commentary KrazyJay!

can't go past trengove now, his recent performances lately have surely sewn him up for pick 2. can't wait to see scully and trengove next year. THANK YOU DEAN BAILY!

Well.... I had a screaming little 8 month old demon for pretty much the whole last quarter :( But I just kept giving him random toys to play with every 2 or 3 mins to keep him quiet till the end.... HaHa.... After bath time and a bottle he is about to go to sleep (well that is the plan, am not hearing anything from his room)

So..... May I just recap what has been one of my most enjoyable afternoons for awhile....

Sturt are now into the SANFL grand final next week against Central Districts....

Jack Trengove has just played one of the best games I have ever seen an 18yr old play.... He was everywhere today.... In and under packs, clearing the ball with quick hands, contested marks, classy moves to evade opponents and a Leo Barry style mark in the dying seconds to secure the win for his team!

This kid carried his team on his young shoulders today.... He was freakin' awesome! Finished just short of 30 disposals and was easily in my Top 2 on the ground (his captain Jade Sheedy had 30 touches and 2 goals)

In an interview after the match, one of Jack's senior teammates replied when asked about him, "Geez, he's good isn't he? He IS 30 isn't he? haha... He has a 30 year olds head on his shoulders... Just classy"

I am obviously sold on Trengove, and have been all year.... He is just great to watch on the field.... His legs were stuffed in that last quarter, but he just kept willing himself into every contest and did a serious amount of "gut" running!

It's all up to the FD now.... Do your job boys ;)

Oh and as I said earlier, I don't barrack for Sturt, I support the Norwood Redlegs (for obvious reasons) :P And I am Victorian, so there is no SA bias comin' from this mouth.... I just know a good, young footy player when I see one.

And this kid is F'ing Good!!

If he wants to live in my house he will be :D Plus, I'll just keep renewing his membership.... He has no say in it really!

It's a beautiful thing. I have a 1 year old daughter who gets tucked in with a Melb FC teddy bear everynight. She never had a chance either.

Thanks heaps for the updates mate much appreciated. Listened to the game over the web. Must have been great to watch, sounded like a cracker, and JT really seems like those players who wins you grand finals. Hard bodied players who win contested ball when it's tough (think Chapman, Ablett), and use to advantage more often than not. Priceless in September.

Krazy- Jay- just to confirm your accurracy in your statements, just copied article from Adelaide Now(newspaper) where thry highlight our Jack-

STURT has defied the odds and booked a date with Central District in the 2009 SANFL grand final after a come-from-behind win over Glenelg at AAMI Stadium today.

After failing to score in the first quarter the Double Blues tipped the game on its head and charged home in the final three terms to overrun the Tigers by five points.

At the final siren Sturt's elation matched that of a premiership-winning side while Glenelg's devastation showed in tears in the eyes of the players.

Sturt captain Jade Sheedy led the turn around with two goals in the second term and a tireless work ethic around the ground. However, it was young gun Jack Trengove that arguably won the game for Sturt. Clean disposals and toughness at the footy helped the 18-year-old to 29 possessions, most of which were under extreme pressure and cleverly executed.

Glenelg, after finishing minor premiers, were knocked out of the premiership race in straight sets losing to Central District last weekend and Sturt today.

Sturt will now face Central District in the Bulldogs' tenth straight grand final next Sunday at AAMI Stadium hungry to win its first flag since 2002.

As you have been spruiking Jack,I've been spruiking Temel- glad both have delivered ,now it is up Barry & the recruiting team. Note both will not be at Draft camp next week. Temel not invited & Jack will be preparing for a GF.

Once again, WELL DONE & SINCERE THKS

Welcome to the MIGHTY DEES Jack. 29 disposals and argubly won them the match that's enough for me. Brock who? Forgotten about the daddy's boy already. Not sure about Temel though not invited to draft camp tells me that he will be a late pick at best.

I loved Trengove and Morabito when I first saw both at the Dome, even though Trengove was relatively quiet. One could just see the class. Unless you were thick, or just watching on TV.

I no longer belong to a particular forum dominated by groupthink due to a [censored] that thinks his doesn't stink when in fact it does. Badly. This [censored] didn't rate Trengove. LOL.

Trengove has done enough now to warrant either selection 1 or 2.

Thanks for the updates.

On today's performance and if he goes alright next week in the GF, I would not be at all surprised if JT went No. 1

Even though the media has been all over Scully, and with good reason, I just wonder if they will take Trengove with the Top pick.....

Might even give Scully another reason to have a belter pre-season, to prove them wrong..... Not that he needs encouragement as I have heard he is a professional little bugger!

Just throwing it out there....

"...dominated" - really? Not sure I know which poster you are referring to.

To the topic, and on face value, Trengove sounds terrific. Young bloke from SA - any risk of another Scott Thompson scenario? I wonder if that's in the thinking of the footy department.

They cannot afford to think like that!! You go for the best available players, and this kid is the best available!! No offence to Scully, who is a gun....

Does it matter?

No, I don't think it matters..... But being from SA he has not had the hype in Melbourne that Scully has.... I really couldn't give a rats tossbag who goes 1 or 2, just as long as we get them both..... But I just look at all the pressure on Watts this year and wonder if Scully needs the same....

From all reports the kid hasnt done any harm to his high draft pick position at all

The SANFL isnt AFL standard but its alot tougher than schoolboy football and all that draft testing scrutiny

Peliminary finals are often the toughest game of the season and to make a statement in those as a teenager will make people take notice

Couldnt imagine us not having some eyes watching the SANFL final series

Sturt are a long shot to beat Central Districts but its what Trengrove does that matters to us

Like Rich last year he looks ready to perform on the big stage against mature bodies

Would not be suprised if this Jack became the Jack of Diamonds

Captain of his state in u18 football is often a great guide to his persona on and off the ground

Looks like a long career in front of him to me

Better make him a Demon

Funny that neither player will make the draft camp... Could it make any difference? Hope not.

Could not agree more!

He is a well oiled machine..... Can play as either a hard in and under type or as a classy outside type..... We would be foolish not to pick him up!

Cameron Schwab on Twitter :

"Jack Trengove played the house down for Sturt today. That's got the twitterers twittering."

Hopefully this means the scouts were there to witness his display..... Got a great feeling he is ours!!

Cam also made an earlier statement whilst watching the TAC Cup GF

"Watching the TAC Cup GF. Anyone looking for confirmation of the value of choices 11, 18 and beyond should tune in. Bit of size as well."

:D

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
