Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Russell Robertson isnt a part of the inner sanctum of the brains trust of the MFC. His views on this are only marginally ( if that ) any more informed than ours. He's seen his future ....and its not AFL.. he feels somewhat meloncholy.

Robbo doesnt nor ever has controlled the spending or contractual negotiations of the club...so with all due respect he's only this > < far from talking out his arse !!

I am a little over this bloke. Can't he keep quiet until after the trade/draft period?

I don't want to bag Robbo as I don't like bagging players but hasn't he answered the question himself? He says he has only a 5% chance of getting picked up by another club. Well if 15 other teams don't want him, then maybe he can understand why we don't.

I liked you as a footballer Robbo but that is just sour grapes!

Jeff White should have gone 5 or 6 years ago. He become a hopeless footballer.

Adem Yze just got smashed in one on one's too much. That is where Aker is at the Dogs! He should be gone to free up a spot for you Robbo.

I would have liked to have seen you go on for another year at the Dee's. But I stand by the MFC decisions. They hav'nt taken a step wrong and are on the right track to greatness once agian.

Go Dee's!!!

My beef is that perception is reality in the sporting landscape and he isn't helping our cause. Just zip it.

Quit while you are behind Robbo. It doesn't do you, the club and your ex-teammates any good to be sprouting crap like that that is blatantly untrue. We do have the money to pay Davey, Yze was struggling to get a regular game at the end, White's days were numbered the moment they changed the centre bounce rule and you, buddy, well lets just say you undid a lot of good work when you put your highlight reels ahead of the team. If I was running the FD your card would have been marked on QB when you lay on the ground having a tanty while Collingwood ran off with the ball. 5%? Maybe if you can keep your mouth shut for a bit otherwise you will have no hope at all.

What a f'ing [censored].

He's been a great servant of the club, but he's clearly not an "f'ing [censored]". There's obviously a lot of resentment within many senior players about the way the club has been run under Bailey. This is probably a large reason why Brock chose to leave. You can understand why they'd be frustrated, we've been trying to lose and for the players winning is their career and what they strive for.

Sadly the way football is going these days careers are cut short for those who are no longer/never have been outstanding players or in bottom 4 clubs. But if you were in his position you would be annoyed too, he's given his all for the club and his delisting is clearly not on merit but on age. I think the AFL should look at ways to keep players in the game longer, such as Lloyd and others who, if they were playing tomorrow, would still be very damaging. I do agree though that the right choice with Robbo was made for OUR club, but I can certainly understand why he would be frustrated and do not see a problem with him giving honest answers.

Hounestly Robbo should be able to say what he likes. Sure most of us will not agree with if but he is no longer a servent of the club, nor connected to us apart from being a past player. Though he cops a lot of criticism, I actually believe what he was saying has some merit.

Do not agree with that at all d-attack. In my eyes it was based on merit as he can not play then game as it is played these days. His lack of accountability in his defensive side of the game was there for all to see. He was given numerous opportunites this season to show he could improve on this and he couldn't which is unfortunate for him.

He is allowed his opinion but at the same time this is the club that gave his is chance in the AFL, developed him as a player and a person for how ever many years so I do not see the benefit of negative statements about the club you played for.

He says that a serious tilt at a premiership will take about 5 years.

I would really like to see the club challenge ALL our youngsters to step up and do it sooner.

This notion of a 4-6 year plan always sits badly with me - remember Wallace? He said that the Toigs would need 5 years and got nowhere.

If you put these ideas in the players' heads, then they think that premierships will happen by osmosis. They are lulled into thinking it's all about 'time'.

Come on, Bailey, lift the bar! Challenge them! Let's see the cup held aloft in 2011 or 2012.

If we didn't draw that line in the sand in the late 90s then a certain boy from Tassie may not have been given a chance on a rookie list to help aid the next youth movement through the club. What was his name?? Rober..something.

Swings and roundabouts!

Thanks for the memories Robbo, l always appreciate what you did for the club, but we are going through hell at the moment and if you wanted this club to be grand again you would understand why this all came about.

He's carrying on like a spoilt brat. Look at the way Lloyd has bowed out with dignity and grace. I'm sick of listening to blokes like Yze, White and Robertson being moved on and thinking they deserved better. The club owes them nothing its the other way around. It's an honour to pull on the jumper, when your numbers up take it on the chin. Don't go throwing shizer at the club because you think you've been hard done by. If I was in his position I'de be shutting my pipe because clearly he is an embarassment to himself.

Exactly.

Once addicted to entertaining himself in front of either TV or a microphoney,,, allways addicted to being a star,,,, just being a little ahead of himself.

I think he'll have trouble adjusting to a normal life.

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
