Exactly my thoughts AJ.

The reins were pulled hard despite an extreme injury list. We are building skill, pace and depth.

Some may say threatening the finals in 2010 as over the top, but I for one believe this is possible.

However, I will be satisfied with any significant improvement!

Had we not had to tank this year,we would have won 6-7 games.

With a reasonable run with injuries,i would expect a minimum of 7 and a maximum of 10.

I think many are a little too optimistic. 5-6wins many losses by tiny margins.

I think to be successful we need to win interstate. I think we could beat Sydney, Fremantle and Port both home and away, if we play well enough. This is where DB will make or break the season. I believe we're yet to win interstate (as the away team) under his reign...

I expect success in this area in 2010.

I think we're a better team than we showed for much of the year (largely due to injuries and the system).

We were coming along leaps and bounds in the first 9 rounds and with further improvement from Davey and Sylvia, with the return of Grimes and Garland, with Jurrah getting a pre season I can see us winning 7-8 matches next year.

Funnily enough, that would've gone close to finals this year.

To finish in the top 8 next year we will need to knock out another team. The top 5 teams this year will be there next year, carlton brisbane and essendon are all young teams that will improve next year. Throw into the mix hawthorn and there is not much space there for the melbourne footy club. I like your optimism but i think were a couple of years away. Its still nice to dream though and sometime soon one might just come true.

We can't play interstate. We can't play at Etihad Stadium. We've won just 5 games between 2007-09 against VIC clubs.

The Team must first learn how to play together with so many new young faces, & then learn to WIN not just at the MCG but all around Australia.

PHASE 2................. I still beleive position 8 is attainable next year.

This year Carlton, Essendon, Sydney,Brisbane & even Hawthorn at times while all fighting for those last spots, all looked fairly average.

With a tough pre season this club can lift. Depends how much it really wants to...

Must win a minimum of 8.

Must definitely improve on this year.

Players have to commit to at least improve their results, as a group.

Without any of this happening 2010 would be classified as a failure.

These are realistic, achievable targets and could infact be surpassed.

I'll tip 10 wins.We are going to improve simply with the infusion of more youth. ( Watts, Blease, Strauss, Scully, Trengrove/Butcher, Wonna). Look how well we played when the reins were off eg Dockers, for Jimmy and the first half against the Saints. The commentators were praising Bailey as a coach during the St Kilda game. They said that his coaching was blending the Dees into a very competitive side. I think we must agree that our kicking and passing has improved greatly in the last eight weeks. We can move the ball beautifully when we TRY.
