Apparently contract negotiations with Richmond have stalled according to the Sun.

I'd give pick 2 to get Deledio at Melbourne. Richmond would probably demand more...

I reckon he will be a great player.

Not a chance.

Wouldn't touch him myself. He's already been tainted and would cost more than he's worth.

By the Richmond culture

And MFC's culture has been better than Richmond's in the past 5 years?

The challenge for Richmond is that they have alot to clean out put little to bargain with at the trade table.

They will want to keep Deledio at all costs. If he goes he will be expensive.

They will want at least a high first round pick plus a good player (no not Newton,Bell or PJ  ).

We have picks 1,2 and 18. He is a good play but I cant see us dealing on him if he were to leave Richmond.

I would be surprised if we trade picks 1 and 2. If I think we wont.

Totally agree. Deledio would have to be the heart of the Richmond revival along with Cotch.

I was on a Richomond forum the other day, yellowandblack.com.au, and some of their supporters were saying they can win a flag in 3 years?

I dont think there list is as bad as everyone thinks.

There top dozen players are OK. They have to cut some deadwood at the bottom. But I dont think it is all that bab. However there is no doubt that for 5 years they were badly coached and blew alot of recruiting opportunities

They're going to be in a bit of trouble for a few years the Toigs. But they do have a few good players to build on over the next little while. Deledio is one of them.

Pick 2 is fair for both parties IMO. Deledio hasn't had the greatest coaches of all time, but he does have to take responsibility for his own form.

Deledio will go to a higher bidder looking to gain some talent for tilts in next 2-3. We have to keep in mind that as our ownlist ages and contracts are revisited then our own bills will need attention if we want to keep our own talent at home.

Maybe another visy ambassadorship is in the wind  ( who said that !! lol )

Richmond wil fight to keep him or extract blood... we dont need to... we'll be fine

Well it was a bit tongue in cheek but i forgot to use an 'emoticon'.

But yeah, i think our culture is in a lot better shape than theirs -- if you go back 5 years, its questionable, but then again, we were playing finals and beating St Kilda back then.

I think he is a big reason for Richmond's underperformance this year. More is expected of him than what he has produced.

I also think we won't trade pick 1 or 2.

Still...should Lids be on the move...he will be one of those Dominoes to act as a catalyst for more happenings

In a team where Foley, Cotchin, Cousins have been injured for most or a good part of the season, Deledio has had to wear it all. He's 22 and still time to improve.

There were bigger reasons for the Tigers under performance...some of them have gone already.

He's still a big reason.

He may have been up against it but he still underperformed.

He underperformed but like I said there were bigger reasons for drop from 11.5 wins to 4.5 wins (excluding the MFC win). Nitpicking

Pick 18, Jared Rivers and Neville Jetta for Deledio and 3rd rd draft pick ;)

I would do it. Richmond wont.

Richmond's list is the worst in the league. There is 20+ players needing to be cut over the next 3 yeras and not one decent draft pick to replace them with. They are in for a lengthy run near the bottom of the ladder and Deledio knows this. If a deal not including picks 1 and 2 can be done go for it. I'd say he knows how bad they are going to be for the next decade and wants to come to a club with some hope and some room in the cap to fit him. Sounds like MFC must be a chance. Having said this he'll probably sign with the Tiges, he strikes me as a one club player.

prefer 34 to 18 in that

roost it make a valid point in that Lids will probably not want to hang around for ever in a struggling team when he could be playing premiership footy easily in 5 somewhere.

Richmond need to do either some quick and smooth talking or be prepared for out right rebuilding

Another player linked to Carlton.

This VISY money is never ending.

 No way. Surely.

Fair dinkum, whenever a player is brought up, so too is Carlton. They can't possibly fit Deledio in. He'll stay at Richmond.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
