Well I was wrong.

If he keeps this up he'll be All Australian no doubt.

Easily our best player

He really has gone backwards since his first couple of seasons.

He was better as a rookie than he is now.

Our B&F by a clear mile, although Bruce might pip him for a few votes so far.

Not only has Davey's form been fantastic, but it seems he's being used really effectively. He's taking loads of handballs from half back and penetrates with 10 yard bursts to get us out of defense. He's also taking kick-ins at the crucial stages - the one today where he had nothing ahead, kicked to himself, layed off a 1-2 and got us out of the 50 was brilliant. Most importantly, his disposal skills are outstanding - he never misses a target. He was the one on the ground today who looked like a real class player. To me he is by far our most important player and I love seeing the impact he's making in the first few rounds. Though I think he needs a new nickname - Flash is beneath him now.

He's not really a centre square midfielder unless you can release him into space because he can't win the hard ball due to his size, but my god he's a good kick.

Very good move from Bailey and Flash is really showing us what he can do. He will get harder tags (The Crows will definitely tag him this week) but if he uses his pace properly and we try and bring him into the game with plenty of cheap handballs to him a la the way Geelong bring Ablett into games when he is (Very rarely) struggling.

I wasn't convinced Davey would make it as a midfielder.

I am now convinced.

See sig. You underestimate the Flash. Super speed is easily the best super power there is. The Flash for Captain in 2010.

I have been a critic over the last 2 sesons or so but now am glad to see him taking "the next step". He's role now setting up play from half backish has definately given our team a lift & direction.

If he can do enough before and after his annual hammie... then yes. AA beckons.

i thought he was sensational yesterday - creative, breaking the lines, spotting up players - fantastic (as was Miller who also lead by example )

All Australian 2009.

Early call for AA, but not out of the question. He's hitting a purple patch. He seems to have a much better engine and is imposing himself on the teams game by getting all around the ground and positioning himself when needed. Might find himself being tagged soon. Surely, leading the B&F by a fair margin at the moment.

Worst case of counting your Chickens before....

Davey played his best game since 2006. His passing was better than against Collingwood because his passing actually cut the lines and he was able to run and make position with it.

Clearly our best player for use of the pill. However, he is our only avenue at the moment for MFC. Good teams will shut him down quick smart.

Hopefully he will benefit from having Grimes, Wona and Maric brought up.

Grimes coming off the backline with Davey delivering through the middle and Maric around the forwardline, yum

Certainly this is as good a form patch for Davey as I can remember.

i agrre it is.

Though its a different type of davey, the last time davey was dominating was when he was chasing down players and snapping goals andkicking freakish goals.

Now he dominates possy all over the ground, hes now our quarterback.

I love the flash. He's one of only one or two players in the side who'd get a game for Geelong (who I reckon are the best side in the comp). After really lighting up the scene when he first arrived there's been the perception that he's dropped off a bit. I reckon that's partly because the team has struggled and because he went from being the 5th or 6th concern of the opposition's defensive 6 to being probably our only decent creative player. Is a pleasure to watch and has a lot of courage for a skinny fella. And, what's pretty important given our club's current position, the kids love him.

but it is a new davey from the one we are used to. we can rely on him almost everytime he gets the ball. the old davey was exiting and still reliable and got some incredible goals/assists, but not nearly as consistently as now.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
