In what I think is a marvellous bit of PR type stuff we have snared Tony Hawk as a Demon.

big deal many might think ...but this guy is an absolute dead set legend in his chosen sport..probably without peer i,d suggest. To get images of this ultra cool guy in the red and blue will I guaranteee you give a bit of street cred in places we probably mightnt have it.

All these little things all go to getting us back in the public's face in a better way. Wel done to the guys.."bravo...bravo !!"

I'm probably showing my age, but I've only heard of Tony Hawk because he was on the Simpsons. Skateboarding is obviously popular with kids, but unless Tony Hawk starts skateboarding with a Melbourne beanie, I don't think that it'll generate massive exposure for the club. I think we're talking about different demographics.

Someone like Chad Reid, who also makes a fortune, would also have limited benefit for the club.

I think whilst conceding there are as many aspects to demographics as there are pizza toppings ..lol.. that to have someone of Hawk's ilk don a Melb jumper ..is actually pretty good stuff. Whilst many skaters arent probably footy nuts..some are. We arent big in the minds of youths..and this is an area that was brooched at the summit..i.e how to get into their mindsets..hence also the youth summit !! In itself its no panacea but its another little thing that goes into the conciousnesses of some.

Some kids might feel it a bit daggy barracking for that supposedly traktor skiing bunch but if they see things like Hawk in red and blue then a different perception starts to creep in.. that's good for mine
