Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Sibosado - Possible Pre-Season #1 Draft Pick from 2008

Maybe I'm wrong and the recruiters just forgot about him, but given he was rated top 25 by some it doesn't seem likely that he just slipped under the radar

Quayle rated him a 'smokey' in her top 25, more of a claim than a prediction. Tom McNamara was rated at 25 by Quayle last year and went to us at 66 but it was no big deal at the time.

I dont think we should to read to much into it, kids like Bellchambers were rated last year and went through to the PSD and have played AFL footy. People are putting to much emphasis on the fact that he wasn't picked up, another poster mentioned Wona and thats a perfect example of the upside.

That footage of him is amazing. He seems so poised. Like everything he did was so effortless.

Personally I was shocked that we didnt pick up another tall in a draft where there were heaps of good tall prospects.

If we go shorter again in the PSD there are going to be so many young players competing for the same positions.

You would think surely we would be going tall. Yet why didn't we just pick him up in the National Draft?

Im a gambling man myself, I would have loved to have gotten Swift. And would love to take a punt on this Sibosado kid who looks the goods. Bailey seems to be going for the safer options, which, regarding the situation the club is in, is the right choice.

I think we will probably be getting Shane Tregear who is already training with the club instead.

I have one word for you....

Martin.

We took a young kind in the PSD, who was a bit older than your average rookie or fresh recruit. Seems to have worked out ok so far.

Rollo (I think) made a good point a few weeks ago. I reckon the club should be given the opportunity to trade their PSD picks. We're not in the market for mature age players, and other clubs are, such as the Hawks, Brisbane, Saints and Pies who are doing ok and looking to top up. We could have traded a player and PSD pick #1 for, say, a pick in the teens. Or in the early twenties...

Would have made a big impact in our side.

Yep! I'm on board. If only because he runs to block after disposing by hand (instinctively). We have precious few who do that. The rest is icing!

looks the goods to me, get him he's worth a chance

He is another like most of yesterdays picks. That would be good because then we could have 20 half forward flankers.

As WJ said elsewhere like the Geelong game at the G we can look forward to the ball coming down and Aussie going up against Scarlett and Harley.

Redleg, what the??

Watts is a KPP.

Blease looks to be a wingman/mid.

Strauss is said to be a half back/mid.

Bennell has played his footy at Half Forward.

Jetta is a defensive utility with no best position according to his WA profile.

Bail is a half back/mid.

in response to the opening post, i cant see why not...if we are still not interested in any ruckmen, i think he could be a handy little pick up (or big pick up)...he goes to Xavier College and i saw him play this year.

i cant remember him standing out to a huge extent, but i didnt see any laziness or things like that in this one match.

i say lets take a punt...he is a big person and although he doesnt have the off the mark pace of buddy, he is definately worth a try in the PSD or a rookie pick at the very least

LMAO at some of the recruiting experts comparing Sibasado to Buddy after watching a 3 minute "YouTube" highlights (and I use the term lightly) package.

The problem with Casey Sibasado is that he really is a boom or bust type selection.

I guess in the PSD you can afford to take that risk.

When he was playing at Oakleigh during the TAC - he attended training probably only once per week (and when he felt like it - he attended twice per week) - instead of the required 3 sessions.

He is in no way shape or form a "Buddy Franklin" clone - doesnt have the pace or the quick reactive skills that Franklin has.

But he would be ok as a 3rd forward or defender - see Jason Roe.

I wonder if any of the people on this forum comparing him to Buddy Franklin - remember Caleb Mourish who was supposed to be "the next Buddy Franklin", and was drafted by Fremantle in 2006 and then delisted that same year ?

Well Buddy didn't exactly have a perfect attitude when he was drafted either.

He is easily worth the risk for such a late pick / PSD pick.

mate it is obviously about the challenge that goes on Bailey and his crew, and to the senior blokes around the club to try and get the kid on the straight and narrow

Putting my battles with Haydo aside, I think he is on to something here.

Ill be shattered if we don't draft this kid in the PSD.

I reckon every other club will be ready to pounce.

Casey Sibosado (DOB – 13/10/90, Ht – 191, Wt – 85)

Melbourne based kid who boarded at Xavier, played some games for Oakleigh and played in the Div 2 Champs for the NT. He plays well above his listed height and is a legitimate key position player. In fact at the Champs he did a fair bit of rucking provided a contest winning a few and at least keeping the opposing rucks honest. He moves very nicely for a big guy, is rangy and covers the ground extremely well. He plays mostly as a forward although he will work up onto this wing to get the ball as a true CHF. Probably the main strength in his game is his contested marking and he is a real presence in the forward line. His kicking for goal is pretty good and certainly up there with the forwards who are likely to be taken around him in the draft. His field kicking is also solid and he seems to have pretty good awareness of what is going on around him. There have been some who have compared him to Buddy Franklin and that is more than a little over the top but in fairness he does move a little like him. He has been hidden away a little playing for NT and Xavier for most of the year but he showed some good development at Oakleigh and teams are going to look at him and think there is still a fair bit development left in him. He has a high ceiling and is someone I think teams are going to be willing to take a chance on later in the draft. He was an attendee at camp.

Definitely worth a punt IMO in PSD

If we wait till rookie draft he may well be gone

The question for me is how good is this kids best is, compared to what's left? The highlights package shows he has talent, it's up to Bailey and co. to extract the best from this kid that he can produce. It's a risky pick, but if Bailey and the coaching staff are good enough, the payout could be well worth it. If anyone has any better alternatives, feel free to throw thier names up. Please don't say Cousins, I want the kids in the team to develop without the inflence of a man who still associates wih convicted drug dealers!!!

PS: I'm after talent, not consistency! I can name plenty of players that were consistenly average.

How about Charlie Sharples. Reminds me of one of the Burgoyne bros… Check him out in You Tube.

I found this interesting article about Casey Sibosado in 'The Age' newspaper: http://www.realfooty.com.au/news/news/hope...7979844736.html

Hopefuly he trains with us along with the other several youngsters that will be invited. Another 193cm+ forward tall is obviously a requirement for the team for the future.

With a first name "Casey", he would fit right in and he's probably a very possible target for PSD on Dec 16th. .

Definately keen on Sibasado. I think his fitness is his biggest issue.

Worth a punt a forward line of Sibosado at CHF, Watts at FF, Wona, Maric, Jetta all crumbing and Bate leading up the ground sounds dangerous.

I hope they look at Matthew DeBoer, an extractor & good runner with quality.

Sibasado looks poss' lazy, so to me, so he would be a rookie proposition if still there.

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh

The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P
